I bought my house in Rockville in 1996,and within the first year I had some car trouble with my 1984 Toyota 4Runner. I am so glad I lucked into finding Jacob! I actually cannot believe I haven't reviewed him before this,but my 2009 Nissan Versa is with him now,so he is on my mind. I was referred to Jacob's Autorama and was not disappointed. Jacob worked on my 1974 Porsche 914..... not many people still have the knowledge and know how to work on old imports. Since he has owned and repaired older imports for many years, this was no problem for him to understand which parts he could use newer generic parts and what parts he would have to order and know where to order them. Jacob has been taking care of our cars for many years. He has always been honest and upfront about repairs, letting us know when certain repairs can be delayed and when certain ones need immediate attention. Jacob never recommends unnecessary work. He is located just steps away from the Rockville Metro Station, which is most convenient when dropping a ar over to him. Here is my experience with Jacob Autorama,I own a food truck and I have use Jacob to do work on it all the time . Last year year I have him to change the rear cylinder in early November of 2013,he did the job and then I left ,so since we got into the cold season most of the food truck are closed till march or April ,in this case I closed the food truck till early April (that means the truck was not driven)! In June 13 of2014 I was headed dc for an event early in the morning ,4.30am I was on270spur going to 495 east when the truck start feeling like it has a flat tire ,I looked at my back mirrors to make sure no cars on sides then I turn my face back on the road when I see both of my rear tires on the driver side roiling on 495,I was able to pull over and got the truck towed back to him. After a week + in shop and I was going to pick up some of his parts to help him the truck was given me back with new hub,new drum ,inner and outer bearings and more,most parts both from Gmc service department two blocks down on 355! I left his shop happy that I'm done with repairing for a while when a weird spiking noise come from the same tire he just fixed,I call him and he ask me to bring the truck back ,so I went back to find our the backing plate was damage from the accident,then Jacob told me that is nothing important and I should comeback another day to get it fixer ,apparently JASON was there witnesses what Jacob told me and he told Jacob that if he let me go like that it may happen the same thing or even worse so he crumble under the tire and bend it the backing plate where it was damage and get it fixed. In September 13 of 2014 on 295 south I have the same tire on same side Jacob has already work twice locked up while was driving ,this thing just snap and it froze on its place ,I had to replace to entire rear differential,when my new mechanic saw that he set in my 30 years of experience I have never seem something like that's ,anyway on the question what could possibly cause that few well known mechanics set the same thing :1 )not proper mounting or overtiten the bearings 2) lack of differentiate fluid coming onto that end,well after Jacob did the job on rear differential he told me to come back in a few days so he can check the differential Fluid,for leek or whatever se reason ,well 4days later I brought the truck back for a front brakes replacement ,the brakes were changed .last night I was reversed the truck when a loud noise come from the front tires ,It happen on shell gas station over shady grove ,apparently the service shop was open and the (mechanics) noticed me and loud noise,they pull the front tire out and they noticed that the caliber is loosed and all brackets -pins etc are missing ,bolt broken.After all this experience with Jacob Autorama he never admit faulty repair he is blaming everyone else bud his work. Yesterday after all this back and forth with him and his insurance we had a lawyer and fail a law suit in rockville against him Before you go at Jacobs Autorama I advise you to first check around area for a better shop ! read more

WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! I needed my alternator replaced and my alternator belt they quoted be $455 for the entire project. Which I thought was a little high, but figured well I'll just give them a try. A few hours later the guy who worked in the office who gave me the final quote called me and said "It's ready to be picked up and it will be $520!" I was shocked! He had jacked up the price from the price quoted almost $70. I asked argued with him and he reluctantly brought the price down to $476.00 (still higher then I was quoted). I should also mention I had checked on the initial quote that I wanted a written estimate, which was never provided for me. Places like this that blatantly rip you off are called BAD Businesses. Clearly, they have no idea how to be honest or run a business. I will never go back and I recommend you never go to Jacobs Autorama. What a horrible experience. read more

I heard about Jacob's Autorama through a local networking group - where nearly everyone in the group had used sucessfully their service at one time or another. I had been having some ongoing problems with a local shop (they were unable to diagnose a brake problem that resulted in my needing a replacement of two expensive parts) and , therefore, was a bit reluctant to bring my car back to them. Having recently experienced an emergency brakes failure, along with a host of other random problems typical to an older car (a squeaky driver seat, a dead headlight, and a need for an overall tuneup), I decided to give Jacob's Autorama a try.
