Dinner compliments of Jacobo's. Total Cost about $4!

Can't believe how many years this has been around and I've been missing out. Since discovering a few weeks ago I've the one hour round trip down there 3 times!!! Today's bounty: 6 flauta's, 4 enchiladas, 2 bags of homemade chips, 1 lb of carnitas, huge containers of rice, beans, two kinds of famous salsa = $40. Enough food for the two of us to make several meals!

a bag of chips and a drink

OMG the chips and salsa are as good as you'll find. I've gone twice within a few weeks and found the salsa heat to be variable, which I didn't mind since it's from scratch. Just make sure you plan to wait in line a bit

large salsa, small rice, small beans, 1 burrito, and chicharron grande. representing with that yelp elite swag ^_^ All this $9.85 yummy!

Been coming here for two years and guess what? STILL LOVE IT! I have now tried just about everything they have in the deli and I haven't found a thing I didn't like. The prices are still the same as they were when I first went there, which to me is insane. It's not uncommon for me to take the bus to Jacobo's and get a burrito ($1.75) for lunch with beans ($1.10 small) and rice ($1.10 small) with some salsa ($3.75 large) for later. My husband loves the grande chicharrons ( $6.99/lb pork rinds basically) so of course I have to buy some for him too. In addition to all that they also have a pastry area which you can find desserts (although go to the International Bakery down the street I think they're better), fresh meat counter, cheese and a few lunch meats by the pound. They have tamales, freshly made masa dough, carnitas by the pound, roasted chickens, and several types of hot sauce. Seriously the list goes on and that's only the freshly made stuff. They also have some grocery items and the produce is usually good quality. In the two years I've come here, only had an issue with language barrier TWICE, but if you don't know how to speak Spanish feel free to point and grunt. that's all for me folks, I'm off to eat my burrito now!

Yum! We checked out their eatery in the back - Jacobo's is a grocery store, and they're famously known for their Salsa with Cilantro as well as their handmade Mexican specialties. We got a bag of tortilla chips and a tub of their salsa, a corn tamale, a burrito, as well as a little bit of the savory tender pork. The salsa was fresh and had chunks of tomatoes and pieces of cilantro throughout. The tamale was wonderful, as it contained pulled pork and the corn itself was seasoned perfectly - it was very tasty! The burrito itself was good, too, filled with meat, beans, and cheese, all cellophane-wrapped. The little piece of the pork I got was very tasty - they charge you by the weight, and I should have gotten more - it was very delicious as it was very tender and juicy (I forgot the name of it). Definitely a cool place to check out if you're in the Omaha area! :D +get the savory pork! :D (by weight)

Dozen tamales after the squad got to them

Amazing Mexican grocery store down on 24th with an incredible hot counter! 24th st has quickly become my fav area of Omaha, with so many great stores and restaurants. Jacobo's is no exception! Jacobo's is a small grocery store that has every type of Mexican grocery product you can find, and of course the amazing hot counter with delicious prepared Mexican food. The prices are so low and fair-we got a dozen pork tamales, 4 enchiladas, a large rice, large beans, and red cilantro salsa and fresh chips for under $40! And this fed 5 adults with leftovers. So good. The line was all the way out the door too, so we we pretty excited as we waited because we knew it would be good. And it def was! You can also find a lot of speciality Mexican grocery items here way cheaper than you would find at a major grocery chain-we got a huge chunk of cojita for less than $3. We showed up at 5pm on a Friday, so they had run out of a few items (burritos and flautas) so I would suggest showing up earlier to avoid situations like that. They also only accept cash but so have a First National branded ATM at the front. Def suggest this place.

What a difference it makes to be able to glide through the aisles without people pushing and shoving past you. Second, it's clean. The carts are nice (no rickety wheels here) and there are a good amount of smaller ones that come in handy for those quick trips. Plus, they don't clog up the aisles either. Finally, I LOVE the self check lanes. They aren't all clustered together and there are two sizes. The small ones for those in and out stops and my personal favorite, the larger ones with a belt length like a regular check out lane. If you're a crazy organized bagger like me, you will greatly appreciate these lanes. My husband probably does too because our self bagging process has improved immensely since discovering this, which means I'm not nagging him to bag better or get out of my way. Definitely make sure you have the customer card because those discounts do add up - I've had as much as $14 of savings in one trip. You also earn cents off the gallon at Quik Trip. Another reviewer mentioned the Direct Your Dollars program which I hadn't investigated yet, but I will now. I'd say you should shop here but I don't want to it become crowded like all the other stores. Maybe I shouldn't have written this review. Hmmm.

I stopped by today in particular to get apples because I forgot to grab them during my normal grocery run and I happened to be nearby. The first thing I noticed was the exterior building. It doesn't look like it's been updated or that well kept up since it was constructed. It looks like the building has aged, and that big sign on a post looks dated as well. The interior was not dirty, but also looked dated and could definitely use a refresh. Businesses in the Regency area tend to look fancier and better well kept up, so I'd like to see this Whole Foods get a little TLC. I just feel like the vibe is off a little from what I would expect. I also expected to see a wider variety of apples. I guess to me Whole Foods means lots of organic and natural items as well as a broader selection than what you might find at conventional grocery store like Hy-Vee. But that really wasn't the case. Other than having lots of organic options, the specific types of apples weren't that unique or exciting. When it came time to check out, there was not a single open register with a human being. They only had self check out open, which is not my immediate preference.

Upon entering I saw the computerized shopping carts with scanners and decided to give it a try. Once I figured out how to scan my ID into the cart, it worked perfectly. I found a 23 pound fresh turkey and had no problems scanning it into the cart. Also found some nice stuffing mix and chicken broth and scanned them into the cart too. Was looking for a specific type of beer and asked the person in the beer cooler about it. He said they didn't have it but recommended a nice alternative. Checkout was extremely easy using the cart once I figured out which lane I had to go through to trigger the final checkout. I'm a tech geek so enjoyed the whole shopping experience and the ambiance of the store. Was cool that the digital receipt showed up in my Amazon account. Prices were higher than I would normally pay, even for organic labeled food, but Whole Foods was the only place I could with organic labeled fresh whole turkey. The turkey and stuffing were delicious, so I consider it worth the cost. I'll probably be back next year for another turkey.

I really liked that they carried a wide range of various cookware, utensils, pots, cups, dishes, etc. They have a very good seafood selection and it is all fresh too. I wouldn't be hesitant in buying seafood from here and I'm from Florida which should say something. I was looking for some green loose leaf tea and the staff was also friendly and helpful, which made the experience even better. If you're trying to cook authentic Asian dishes at home or just want to explore something new, this is the spot. They also have a wide variety of Asian medicinals and makeups.
