As someone who grew up shopping here and brought my own children here, what an epic disappointment. The store is cluttered and the displays are overfilled. The client interaction is zero. I wasn't greeted, I wasn't offered help, and I had to beg for an employee to assist in charging me for the items I found. The woman with the black/gray curly hair and glasses was unhelpful, unpleasant, and unprofessional. The gal with the ponytail was nice enough but not one person smiled. Very impressed by not only the customer service but the flowers. I walked in asking for a delivery and pick up. Our 2 law students graduated law school and wanted something special. They delivered the same day and I went back a few hours later to pick up and take to the office. They made the arrangements fresh for me. When the girls received the flowers, they loved them. When I picked the one up, the first thing I thought was "Gorgeous "! Both were the Pink Pom orchid and rose bouquet. I will say a little pricey. There was a time that Jacob Maarse was the best of the best of florists. But to be that you have to have incredible designs and wonderful customer service. Sadly the service of the original JM is just not what it used to be. We have been long time customers but have finally decided the errors out pace the beauty of the designs. Two days ago I called to have birthday flowers delivered to my daughter at school. This would have been the first time she ever celebrated a birthday at school (due to starting school year dates) and being back from the pandemic her first year at this high school. Getting flowers is a big deal. There a sense of pride in walking around with them. We also didn't do a celebratory gesture that morning knowing the flowers were coming. I called the day before and gave school hours ending one hour earlier then they do just to be sure. It was her sweet 16 and I wanted it to be special. I asked the lady if she was sure it could be done and she assured me with a yes. Not only did they arrive after school (by three hours) but no one even called to say they were running late so I could have run something over myself. I had to drive back to school to pick them up at the office that evening (and we don't live close to school). Just terrible customer service. The last time there was an error in our order we let it slip but this is too much. If you rely on delivery on a certain date or time I wouldn't go with them. read more

I have been getting flower arrangements here for years but now I had my sons wedding. I worked with David Navarro. He was patient, welcoming and a listener. He did a mock up for us and we made some changes and he made our event shine! His work was perfect. I read some of the comments and if you did not work with David, you missed out. They need more people like him. He not only made us comfortable but he responds via email instantly. He was also the one who delivered and made sureeverything was to our satisfaction before leaving! I have heard about this place. I saw it on the Profit. I finally visited Jacob Maarse. We pulled into the garage. They were having a garage sale. We walked into the showroom and my friend shared that the pathway that is usually lined with deliveries was stark and bare. We strolled through the shop. I noticed many displays were completely missing. The gift items are lovely. Very pricely. Uniquely displayed new and antique items. I wish I had visited years ago. It's amazing. But I heard in years prior when the patriarch was still alive it was unbelievable. The gent at the counter said they were remodeling when we inquired about the missing displays. I've been underwhelmed in recent years - maybe since The Profit's disasterous coverage - with the in-store experience and with flowers I've rec'd from Jacob Maarse. Today I tried again as I wanted a large and $$ sympathy arrangement. I asked to speak to a designer who'd be doing the flowers as I'm specific about what I want and wanted to confirm what's in-stock. The woman who took my call said the designers were 'very busy' and to e-mail my order instead. I'm sorry, but no florist is 'very busy' during Covid. Well, I complained to Marina, the manager, about the sad state of the flower bouquet I had sent, and she offered to send another one (she credited the original order). So I had her send another bouquet and it was quite nice, but still not up to the quality that they used to produce. So probably better than ProFlowers or 1800flowers, but no longer exquisite. read more

By far the most wonderful florist shop in all of the LA area! I'm so delighted every time I visit this shop. It's loaded with the most amazingly beautiful, creative high quality items and is fun to browse there and get a coffee at the close by cafe. I could spend the entire day at this shop! I bought the most beautiful Christmas gift there in December and when I brought it to the counter the lady at the register wrapped my gift so gloriously that I wanted to cry...she really make it even more wonderful. Extensive positive reviews and an impressive store front are what led me to finally try these guys out. It was my girl's birthday so I was looking to surprise her with a big ol' bouquet. I was able to quickly do everything over the phone, securing a "loose and airy" arrangement of wildflowers for morning delivery the day of her b-day. The staff was friendly and helpful even though the Spanish accent was a little thick at times. The day of delivery I called to find out where in the queue her arrangement was. The girl I spoke to didn't know but called me back as soon as she found out (which was quick). Again, the staff was very nice. As beautiful as the flowers were they only lasted a couple of days. Most of it started dying by the second day and the entire thing was trashed before the week was out. For the money spent it should have EASILY made 7 days (friggin' flowers from Trader Joe's last at least that long). Good service, prompt delivery and a beautiful arrangement, but the quick death of the flowers will make me reconsider going back to them, read more

I should have read reviews before I placed my extensive order to deliver lots of flowers to my wife on our anniversary earlier this week. I would have known what to expect; poor quality and even worse customer service. Half-dead flowers that looked like they were "arranged" by the "deranged" owner. I brought the flowers back and he was worse in-person. A loud, aggressive and petulant little man that spent more time berating staff and customers than to make sure orders were sorted properly. David was always accesible to speak with when I needed to talk about my vision for the florals, etc. He previously did florals for my sisters wedding in 2015 and everything turned out beautiful. Jacob Maarse has been a go to basically when we need great flowers. Yesterday we were walking by and saw the holiday decorations. We went in. I am really glad we did. It reminded me of the Stats which is no longer in business. Decorations were beautiful, walking around I even found a very small but elegant Hanukkah area. Ok 89.00 for a Hanukkah pillow was a bit I thought over priced. Yet when I brought it home it was so elegant, I will be going back to buy another. Otherwise prices were great and they even had a small kids areas with greg european styled stuffed toys and books. I will be back very soon. Thanks Jacob Maarse for bringing back an elegant Holiday shopping experience. FYI your staff was great. but never say to someone wearing a star of david that the napkins look like some of that Hanukkah stuff. HA HA read more

Its terrible that because of one stupid show, The Profit, a bunch of strangers who have never even used Jacob Maarse have slandered them and posted a bunch of bad reviews. People who have not had direct contact with a business should not be allowed to post a review based on watching a show. One of the biggest problems with this country is that people often believe everything they read and hear instead of doing the investigative work. I have used Jacob Maarse as my florist for over 20 years. Im not a rich person and they have always been priced competitively for the work they do. Consistently beautiful flowers. Frankly, I am surprised at the number of people claiming that they received less than stellar floral arrangements from Jacob Maarse. I have receive quite a few delivered bouquets from them and each one is simply gorgeous with fresh flowers and an elegant and seasonal display. The bouquet I received last Friday (delivered to Downtown LA in the middle of the crazy rainstorm) was artistically arranged, full of the freshest well selected flowers, and presented a wonderful aesthetic. I don't see why anyone would want to go anywhere else. It's a week later and roses are still blooming. read more

I placed my 2nd custom corsage order May 2012 and the finished product was PERFECT!! way better than what I had imagined. So funky & different from the plain, white, standard-looking corsages you can get at any corner flower shop & exactly what I wanted. It was SO SO beautiful I kinda wanted to keep it for myself =) I'm not sure why other people have such bad experiences here especially during prom season, But I have always had excellent customer service here (and I'm not an easy person to work with) I walk in with a very specific order in mind, and they have exceeded my expectations both times! This year, my little brother's prom date wore a royal purple dress with copper beads & detailing. When placing my order, (Brittany who was VERY nice and VERY helpful again this year) I requested purple flowers (designers choice) and also asked if they could please try to incorporate some of the copper ribbons/wire I had provided (since I wanted an EXACT color match) I also requested if it wasn't too much trouble, if they could please attach the corsage to a rhinestone corsage bracelet I picked up @ a floral supply shop for a little bit more sparkle ;) They used dark purple mini calla-lillies and several deep purple orchids and mixed in deep green fresh looking leaves around the flowers which made the color of the flowers "pop" even more. They used the copper floral wire I brought in, and very delicately wove it in between and all around the flowers and leaves. They used both of the copper ribbon choices I brought in to make a very beautiful and unique bow at the end of the corsage. They were even able to use the corsage bracelet I brought in too! It was gorgeous! I was very happy! I picked it up on a Friday afternoon and stored it in the fridge until the next afternoon (about 24 hours). When his date arrived at the party bus pick up/photo location and he finally put her corsage on, there were lots of oooh's and aahh's from all the other prom couples, parents and family members there because it was one of, if not the MOST BEAUTIFUL corsage there. I work nearby and I just love stopping by just to wandering around their gaint store and admiring all the products and arangements on display. The experince they have in the business of flower arrangement and artistry is uncomparable to other florists in the Pasadena area.
