STAY FAR AWAY! We bought a car from here for a great price and that is probably the only good thing I can say about this place. We had nothing but problems with it. When we financed the car through the finance company that Jacob's sends you to, we also bought an extended warranty. We brought the car in for repair and 4 days after we dropped it off the owner called me yelling at me saying our warranty was a scam and we couldn't use our warranty we had to either pay in full or come get the car. He said he could not get through to the company. I called the company after I hung up with him and they gave me the phone number that Jacob's should call which was the same one I gave them when I left the car.I called Jacob's back and I had to leave a message. That was a Friday and I never heard from them so I called again on Monday and they couldnt talk to me so I drove over there. My car was no longer there! They took our car without asking to the Auto sales and repair shop where we financed and purchased our warranty so they could deal with the warranty company! They had NO PERMISSION to do this. The place was in Auburn an hour away. When I contacted the Auburn location to talk about the car they had no problem with the warranty company and said the warranty company wouldn't let Jacob's work on the car because they require a certified mechanic to do the work and the mechanic at Jacob's is no longer certified! STAY AWAY! This place is so shady and they don't care one bit about how they treat their customers. The owner is so rude and disrespectful. Not sure how this place is still in business. read more

Just had an oil change --synthetic oil, which I know is more expensive--but $120? That's outrageous! Yes, I should have asked beforehand, but never have I paid anywhere close to that, even through the Toyota dealership! They gave me an R inspection sticker and when I took it elsewhere for a second opinion they couldn't find anything wrong with my car. I wouldn't trust these guys for a second. I kept using them even after I realized how bad they were, just because it was convenient. My mistake. They're not good. When you drop your car off, you won't hear from them again so the onus is on you to keep checking in with them They'll keep your car for days before they even look at it. Their work doesn't last. Purchased a vehicle with 40,000 miles from these guys, and I took it to get an oil change only to find out it had frame damage as well as a list of $1200 worth of work it needed to be done to it. When I approached the dealer with these issues he was reluctant until I said that I would consider hiring an attorney. When I told the owner Sam Jacob this he responded, "Go ahead and get attorney, you think this is the first time I've been to court," and hung up on me. An hour later his salesman Nathan called me back to tell me he was sorry and that I should call back again to setup the appointment. He told me to drop the car off on Sunday so I agreed. Sam called me in Saturday and told me he didn't have a loaner until Tuesday. I dropped the car off reluctantly. He called me half way through the work to tell me even though it was covered under the lemon law, I needed to pay and if I didn't want to that I could come pick the car up and get an attorney. At that point I wanted out of this nightmare experience and I paid him only to pickup the truck and have the work he did on the truck fail on me. Do not buy from this dealership! This is one of the few stations that pump your gas for you which is great... however, the fuel attendant overcharged me on more than one occasion of which I had to pay the extra. This a good way to boost sales for a day! Today I went in for fuel and he SNATCHED my credit card out of my hand. I asked if that is what he does to everyone and he said yes, then he started ranting that my buying fuel at his station doesn't pay his bills! And, oh, also they sell cars which a friend bought one from them. The motor mount let go shortly after the purchase, which caused an accident; they would not stand behind the repairs. I've heard they do good repair work although I don't know if they're trustworthy based on my girlfriends experience. The auto mechanic was recommended to work on my Jaguar,so despite the bad reviews of the station ( not the mechanic) I took my jag there. When I came to pick up the car on a Saturday the owner & mechanic were there, but when I asked to speak w/ them before leaving they were no where to be found. Went to retrieve the car-- cracked windshield and 20 Miles had been placed on the vehicle!. I called Jacob's this week about having a quick/easy fix done on my car in the early afternoon on a weekday. The person who answered the phone told me to come over right away and they'd be able to help. I arrived fewer than 30 minutes later, and two separate rude attendants told me they were too busy to get it done (despite having told me to come right over on the phone). When I asked why they had told me come over immediately, both responded something to the effect of "I don't know who you talked to on the phone," as though that explained it. Needless to say, I immediately drove next door to West Newton Auto Service, where they solved the problem in 10 minutes for less money than these guys would've charged. read more

I'm local and have been coming to Jacob's for about 4 yrs regularly after my old place let me down (tried to pork me). I have a buddy who is not local but a master mechanic so I run things by him to make sure anything I do makes sense (and is priced reasonably fair). Not only, as you see from other reviews, are they friendly and knowledgeable, but they give you a fair price for great work. I showed up unannounced today at 130pm and got an inspection and oil change for my 2 cars by 4pm. And a tank of gas to round it all out ha. Anyway, highly recommended. read more

I came here to get my car inspected, and what I expected to take me all day took a matter of 15 minutes! Jacob's Auto Service wasn't just efficient, they were affordable and incredibly patient with me. My knowledge of cars is dismally limited, and they were able to explain everything to me with a generous amount of pleasantries. I didn't need much patience, though, because there was legit no line when I went! I did get there as they opened, but from what I could gather from other reviews, Jacob's is usually good about getting customers in and out of the shop. No appointment - they raised my car to have a look found the stone that had been caught up in the tire and remover it. No charge!!! I started going here when my old service station couldn't come up with a solution to an electrical problem that had been plaguing my car for months despite numerous attempts to fix it. When they gave up, I found Genaro, the world's best mechanic (along with Click and Clack, of course). He isolated and solved the problem with one attempt. Since then we take all of our cars to Jacob's. Friendly, competent service, and fair prices. It's nice to have a place where you're known and where you can trust the service. You can stop looking for a reliable and honest repair shop.This place is it! It is top notch. The service is excellent. They are reasonably priced and do excellent work. They always go the extra mile that is unexpected and overwhelms me with gratitude. I live nearby so I have gone in for random things and every single guy that works there has been super helpful and solves the problem right away. I needed an inspection. 10 minutes. No wait. Done. I had a light out. 5 minutes. Less than $10. Done. My tire was low. Pouring rain. Nice guy put air in it even though he was clearly busy. Today, I went in and told them my brake light was on. Within two minutes a guy asked me if I needed help and another one looked at my car, said my break fluid was low. He filled it. In the rain, again. Less than 5 minutes. No charge. I'm so grateful to have this place close by. I will never go anywhere else. read more

They show you a different but similar car. Charge $2500 over Kelly Blue Book such scumbag liars. They will tell you they will fix any issue bumper to bumper within 60 days or 2500 miles. Ha! Bring your car back with an issue and they blame you, yell at you, say it's 'not a safety issue' so they don't have to fix it. But if you give them $400 they will take care of it. But wait! I love this gas station!! I used to go there all the time when it was on my commute home. I was sad to leave that company knowing that this station was no longer convenient. However, I frequently go out of my way to get my gas from them. I think the employees are great. I love that they know me and always give me a welcoming smile when I drive my car into the station. And the bonus is, they pump the gas for you in all kinds of weather. This is a must go to station! read more

Don't be fooled by the low prices. I used to stop here weekly for gas. I noticed at my last fill up that they pumped more than my tank will hold. When I mentioned to the manager that the pump may be off he got belligerent with me. A suspicious response since I wasn't looking for anything, only to let him know I thought there may be a problem. If I could give a half a star, I would. I took my car to have my inspection done. It's right across the street from one of my offices. My check engine light came on as I was going to have air put in my tires (because my car told me it needed it), I had the guy at Valvoline read what the code was and it said it was my thermostat. He also said it might just be a fuse. Ok. So I took my car to these bozos and asked them to check it out. I received a call telling me my thermostat needed to be replaced. He said the thermostat would be $60, the antifreeze $20 and labor $120...huh? Give me my keys back. I took my car to my mechanic who asked if my car was over heating. No, it is not. He reset the light, problem solved. When I went to pick my car up at Jacob's, they guy actually said "Next time I'm gonna charge you". I don't think so. There will be NO next time. People, just because a light comes on in your dash it does not mean you need to spend hundreds of dollars. They don't call them "idiot lights" for no reason. Beware of these guys. read more

I have been a regular customer at Jacob's Auto Service for at least five years. I have rarely bought gas anywhere else unless I am out of state. This past week my tire gauge light went on and I stopped there to get air in my tires. The man pumping gas told me the air pump was broken. I wondered to myself if perhaps he had not recognizing me, thought that I wanted only air and would not be paying for anything and he just didn't want to be bothered with me. When I went in for gas over the weekend I asked the attendant if the air pump was really broken and he told me that someone had run over it and that it would be fixed on Tuesday, which is today. I stopped by there this evening to get air in my tires. When I inquired politely about getting air, the same man I had asked last week screamed at me an told me that he had already told me it was broken. I replied that one of his workers had told me it told be fixed today, which was why I had stopped back. He dreamed at me, "If you don't fucking believe me go look for yourself then get the hell out of here!!!" He walked into the gas station with a customer's credit card to process it. I followed him and when he opened the door I asked him for his name. He bellowed at me, "I am Sam and I own this place. Now get the fuck out of here before I throw you out!!!" This was all in response to my having the apparent audacity to ask for air twice in one week, when I have been a regular weekly customer for over five years. I will be taking my business elsewhere and I suggest that you do as well. read more

I needed my car inspected (I had been out of the country for a month and it was overdue). I chose Jacob's simply because I was driving by. I agree with other reviewers that people there were friendly, but I felt really taken advantage of. The mechanic said he would have to reject my car due to dirty headlights + put a big red safety rejection sticker on it, for which I could get pulled over and get a ticket - unless he cleaned them with a special solution for $40. I would have walked away and asked around to see if anyone else thought there was any validity to that. but I had a fractured hand + my license was being mailed to me so I didn't have it on my person and feared getting pulled over. It took him 2 minutes. This is the first time I've written an on-line review, but it just felt like opportunistic business, so I thought I'd put it out there. read more

Sammy is a total scam artist. Met him telephonically to arrange a purchase from auction for my wife. Lots of time wasted as he tried to talk me into vehicles that didn't meet our specifications but were available and a "real deal." Ultimately bought something not quite as we wanted and upon further review, not much of a deal post his fee. He did a brake job and clean up for us - an extra $500. Then we drove the car back home to Dallas and started having a brake issues - turns out his guys had failed to tighten one of the nuts, so the whole thing was coming apart. Could have left me with no brakes on that wheel. So I got to have another brake job and replace the pads and the rotors that were worn down after all the metal on metal contact. Not only wouldn't he reimburse me for his shoddy work and the damage it did, he screamed at me for even asking. STAY AWAY FROM SAMMY! read more

They always pump your gas. Convienent location. Super fast inspections, 8 cents off/ gallon on Mondays. SUPER friendly attendants who know me by name and ask about my husband, in laws and dog. Point out when my inspection sticker is ready to expire and when a tire is low. Super competitive prices on oil changes/ tire rotations and brake jobs. Nice to know there's still an old fashioned service garage in the hood. read more

She went to the Newton police who told her that was absurd although Jacob had a friend who could get her a deal on a bumper! UNCALLED FOR BELLIGERENCE I live nearby and frequently gas up here...even got an inspection sticker here once, and no real complaints...except that the attendants never seem to use the gas cap holder on the tank door, but rather let the cap dangle on its tether against the fender, possibly causing scratches or marks to the finish...not serious or unusual behavior, but enough to cause me to avoid so-called 'full service' stations, in favor of pumping my own gas. But just this afternoon, I asked the attendant, who later claimed to be the owner, to place the gas cap into the holder on the tank door. His response was decidedly belligerent: ATTENDANT: (loud & defiant) "What is wrong with it?! It cannot scratch--it is plastic against plastic--it is hurting nothing!" I was quite taken aback by his vehement response to a paying return customer. I would have left right then and there, but the gas was already pumping. Since he seemed older than the usual attendants, I asked whether he was the owner, which he affirmed. ME: "Well, I won't ever come here again." ATTENDANT: "Good! I do not need your money...what, $20? It is nothing." (I had him fill the tank: just under $30). "Do not ever set foot on my lot again!" ME: "I'm going to tell everyone I know in Newton how you have treated me." ATTENDANT: "Tell it to everyone! Put it on the internet!" I remained silent after that, handing him my credit card after the pump handle clicked off. (I did notice by that point he actually complied with my request: the gas cap was neatly sitting in the holder on the tank door). He returned with my credit card and receipt: ATTENDANT: (still loud & bitter) "Do me a favor and do not let me see you ever again!" So, now I have complied with his imperative to put it on the internet... During my subsequent fill up at the SUNOCO a few blocks east, I was about to make the same request, but noticed the cap was already properly in the holder...I actually thanked the attendant, and he was all smiles, and very pleasant. What a contrast. I purchased a car from Jacob's in November 2013. My family had been doing business with them for 10-15 years and we thought it to be a reliable and trustworthy business. The car- within the first month- had a leak in the gas line and gas cannister, needed the breaks replaced (they said they had done this) within the first 6 months and has been a TOTAL lemon. Thinking them reliable, I paid a premium for the car (above Kelly's BB) and as this was my first car purchase, made the very stupid mistake of not checking the car with another mechanic. My new (and reliable) mechanic, told me that any mechanic would have seen the rust and damage under the hood- thus leaving me with only the conclusion that they knew the car was bad and still sold it to me. After all the problems in the first month- I had taken the car back to Jacob's and asked what they would be willing to buy the car back for- a reasonable gauge of what they really thought its worth was- and they offered my $2,000 less than I paid, suggested the damage was a result of my driving, and were ready to rid themselves of me (the sucker). read more
