Update: See bottom My car broke down near them, so I walked over and asked them to fix it. Fortunately, they share a larger space with a tow company, so the tow guys grabbed the car, brought it to Ravelo and Bam! everything was taken care of. This is small, cozy place, with reasonably-knowledgeable mechanics. I was impressed that they were able to diagnose and repair my distributor in a matter of hours! That really helped me, b/c I was able to get to work the same day by car broke down! I was also happy they didn't hound me about fixing other things on my car, like the shocks and whatnot. Probably just because of that and their convenient location, I'll think about bringing it back to them for outstanding, but less critical work! Price was reasonable, too. They gave me the option of new or used parts. Update: my car broke down just about 2.5 months later on a road trip with the same problem. The new mechanic said Ravelo did a bad job putting the distributor in. He said it was held in with a metal shim. Therefore, I have to downgrade this review a bit. read more

The address listed above is incorrect -- it's 144 Mystic Ave, not 146 I had an unusual situation: I hit a parked car, left my phone number, and was trying to arrange service to replace the directional light in such a way that the car's owner could drive in, get it fixed, and leave. I chose Ravelo's because of it's positive reviews and convenient hours (open til 6? on weeknights, and on Saturday 8-3). I'm always nervous going to a garage, but these people were wonderful. Joselyn was incredibly accommodating, and her dad (the business owner) was kind and very reasonable. They took a look at photos of the damage, gave me an estimate and were happy to let me order the part they needed online so that I could save myself a few dollars. When the car owner arrived, they fixed what they needed to and called me so that I could pay over the phone. They really went above and beyond to make my life easier, and all for an extremely reasonable rate!! I will go there again and recommend them to everyone. read more

Hubby and I went to look at a car that he had seen. We test drove it and all was good. The price they asked was a a little over budget for what we were willing to spend on the car. It was a pretty basic car. But Hubby was really interested in it. Well, we ended up buying another car on the lot that was a bit more stylish and "cool". And it was just a few hundred bucks more!!! His nephew helped us with the sale. He was a nice laid-back social typa guy. The others are nice, but personality wise, the nephew has them beat! We traded-in our car and were given fair value for it. I honestly was expecting less, but I'm not certain how they figure it out. Everything went smooth with the paperwork, payment, etc... They did repair/replace something before we took it home, so it took a few extra days. We also had to take it back a week or 2 later because of a constant shake. That was resolved and the car seems to be fine. Overall, a good experience. Would buy from again in the future. Would also recommend to others. read more

My brakes started making that awful noise of metal to metal. Decided to get a quote from a few auto repair shops close by for brake and rotors replacement. Rafael sent the cheapest quote by about $100-150 less than others and since I don't have a mechanic (My last mechanic screwed up last time and I don't want to go back) I decided to try them out. Jocelyn answered the phone and helped set up an appointment, I dropped off the next day. car was ready in less than 2 hours. she did call to recommend for better pads for 25$ more which seemed fair. I did like the no pressure approach the salesperson (woman) prrovided. She gave me the keys to the cars to test drive. I didn't buy a car from here because the cars (rav4s) were not in prime condition. One rav4 was very dirty with stains, one rav4 accelerated very slowly (2000 model), and the corolla i drove had a defected side electric mirror. I've been going to Ravelo for many years, as has my extended family. They're great, honest, and fair because they never try to pull anything or get me to replace something that I don't need to. I've brought my car in with what I thought needed or should be done (I'm obviously not a mechanic) and they recommended a much less expensive, yet quality, fix with better results so it wouldn't happen again (a wiring issue). Time and time again they are quick, thorough, friendly, and do not rip me off. I love that they give me the option of higher quality (and therefore typically more expensive parts) or lower quality (and therefore cheaper parts). Having this option, it's totally my decision. I recommend checking out my review of NTB in Everett, which unfortunately yelp doesn't think is relevant. Ravelo saved me $1,140.00 and my car was as good as it gets (passed inspection with flying colors), no problems, no more check engine light. Peace of mind. read more

Olie Ravelo and his sister Jocelyn are the best! I was left a 20 yr old Volvo when my oldest brother passed away. My other brother and I flew from Minneapolis to Medford, MA. to get it, load it up with some of my late brother's stuff, and drive over 1000 miles back. However, it was New Year's Eve and I HAD to get back to MN but this car was falling apart and no one had the time or the parts to help. I kept getting told "not until next week." And then I called Ravelo's. Olie Ravelo told me to bring it right down! He fixed it right up- power steering column, new brake line as well as an oil change, and at far less than anyone else charges (and I've owned cars in NJ, Philly, NYC and Minneapolis) and, get this (!!), he called me -twice!- to make sure we got all the way back safely!
