He said it was out of his control and he needed to ask the owner who was helping a couple at the time. I found the exact type of Jeep Wrangler I was looking for on their website for the right price and then set up time with Jade to look at the car. The car was perfect and it checked out in tip-top shape when I took it to an independent Jeep specialist. The real star of this story was Jade. He worked with me even though I was actually the one with the baggage. My bank was being pretty difficult to work with when it came time to arrange the financing. To make matters worse, I was leaving for a nice tropical vacation in two days and didn't have time to deal with endless paperwork. Jade arranged for basically the same great financing I had gotten with my bank with his preferred bank. Not only did he do that, but Jade also made sure to take care of the car while I was away on vacation. I came back a week later and all the insurance, registration, and safety inspection work had already been taken care of, all I had to do was hop in the car and drive away. In my case, I described what I was looking for and he happened to be headed to an auction the following day. When I looked at the car, none of the tires matched, it didn't track right during the test drive, and the engine had a knock. There were various other issues, all of which he said he could fix if I decided to buy the car. I was left with the impression that this car, which was described as perfect, would end up costing me a lot more once he started servicing the vehicle. It seemed really sketchy and I couldn't accept that he'd 'take care of me' after I bought the car which had obvious problems.

The problem is, they do not account for the flaws in their pricing and do not fix them before selling. Prior to selling a friend a Subaru they promised to have the vehicle ready to roll with no safety or mechanical defects. We noticed that there was water in the headlight - something that should have been addressed before it went onto the lot. We had the car examined by another mechanic who said that the transmission needed replacement. After a bit of prodding Royal's owner agreed to install a new transmission. They spent about 12 days working on the car before telling us it was ready. Upon receiving it we found that they had not installed a new transmission but had taken a rebuilt one and slapped it in, covering it with paint and a layer of silicone to make it look new. In a nutshell that's all you need to know about Royal Used Car Sales. Stay away!

I brought my car back in to ASPI and was told my breaks were fixed and that I now needed two new tires. I paid for my tires, which also were higher than other car shops and my brakes still squeak. I'm really disappointed as I thought ASPI would be my regular auto shop and now I feel short a chunk of money and am embarrassed to drive my car around

This isn't a perfect world but the experience I've had at Camden Motors in Dorchester is as close to an ideal car buying situation as I could ask for. I've been going to Camden's as long as I've been buying cars (starting in 1985) and I'll continue to do so, based on the quality of vehicles they sell and their helpfulness during the sale. Camden's stocks a variety of used vehicles, from more recent models with some mileage on them to higher mileage vehicles. He gets them from a number of different sources and does take trade-ins with the purchase of a vehicle. Before putting anything out for sale they have each car checked checked for mechanical or safety problems and have any needed repairs made. I've never had a mechanical problem with any of the vehicles I've bought there, and some of my purchases have been very high mileage cars. The sales process is a welcome relief from the loud flashy approach of most dealers. Bill Camden, the owner, never tries to push anything on a customer, or lead them to something that's out of the range of what they're seeking. And, if he doesn't have what a customer is looking for he'll tell them up front. I've bought five of my six cars from Camden's (the other was my brother's old company car) and I will keep doing so as long as they're in business. For a major purchase, reliability and helpful service are important, and that's what Camden's provides.
