Very cute area with a lot of great shops and restaurants. We had luck with some great shopping and eating here! The square is really cool with all the antlers! Great photo ops! Parking can be a bit tricky. I was actually worried we wouldn't be able to find parking when we planned to visit one evening because parking was difficult to find earlier in the afternoon, so we decided to Uber from our hotel and back. We wanted to catch the town square shootout they put on every evening. Very cute little show that lasts maybe about 15 minutes. They sell some drinks and snacks as a fundraiser as well. Jackson's town square/park is a quintessential place to visit if you're coming to Grand Teton National Park and have any additional time/ability to go to Jackson Hole. You can come and just hang out in the park itself if you want, which is a nice place to sit and hang out especially if you have kids or pets with you. But of course, the town square itself is surrounded by several small businesses including bookstores, bars, restaurants, hat stores, gift shops, etc. Overall, it's a really nice landmark to have when you're visiting the area because you can pretty much wander onto any of the side streets but then make your way back to the park to remember where you started, or where you parked. I definitely recommend some of the cafes and bars right around the square as well, particularly Persephone Cafe - it's one of my favorites in Jackson Hole (and actually in general - they have incredible drinks and pastries!). Also, they do sometimes do events here -- for e.g. the weekend that I came was Memorial Day weekend, and they held the Million Dollar Country Music Festival right here in the square. It was totally free to attend, and the park itself was a great place to sit because the area just in front of the stage at the northeast corner of the park was shoulder to shoulder. The park has areas where you can just sit on the grass, or you can perch on the little wooden rail barrier that surrounds the park (that's where I ended up sitting, and I could hear and see the stage just fine). I also ended up eating dinner just behind that area at one of the hotel restaurants, and it was really good. Overall, I think the town square is a total vibe. Plus, it's got the antler arches where you can get great pictures! read more

It's packed with shops and restaurants. The food options are great with more casual as well as more upscale options. We are in the center of Jackson Hole. The square is surrounded by upscale shops and fun restaurants. The stage coach passed and circled the square numerous times. The art galleries are exquisite with a lot of beautiful pieces to admire. We walked through the antler arches & sat in the square watching Jackson Hole pass by. Oh so cute place you can't miss....and you won't if you head into the town of Jackson Hole. We stayed just up the hill at the Snow King Resort which has skiing/snow boarding, cowboy coaster (a real roller coaster on the slopes), and tubbing. But just a few blocks away is the town square. Each of the four corners have a gigantic elk antler arch. It's great for that perfect holiday picture. In the middle is a large monument which features a bronze sculpture of a cowboy riding a bucking bronco, representing Wyoming's state symbol and honoring local veterans. During winter time, there's a small ice rink. It's fun to skate around the tree and bench parked right in the middle of the rink. There's a ton of great restaurants that adorn the square including Silver Dollar Bar & Grill, Roadhouse Brewing Co, and the famous Cowboy Bar. If you are looking for souvenirs you can find plenty among the shops too. On one corner is the Mountain Trail Galleria which has very cool life-size statues right outside its doors (favorite is the elk). read more

Before visiting Jackson, I was, embarrassingly enough, obsessed with watching the Jackson Town Square webcam. I was delightfully surprise when we finally arrived in person at how cute this little town square is. There's a lot going on at this town square, even in the off season. Yes, there are a plethora of shopping options around and the Antler Arches are a cool sight but the little park itself, even though there was snow on the ground, always had something going on. Every time we passed by there was some sort of activity happening, whether it was "official" or not. We saw some people set up chairs and start singing. We saw people dancing. We saw some sort of game happening. It felt really homey to see all of this activity. I'm sure there's a lot more during the summer to explore and I'd highly recommend it. read more

The downtown Town Square in Jackson Wyoming is where we spent some evenings since we stayed in downtown Jackson for 6 nights. I was really looking forward to this place, although IMHO found it overpriced, overcrowded, underwhelming, and having an identity crisis. You will find a cowboy theme with the elk antlers on the four corners of the square, the million dollar bar which is a tourist trap, and a stage coach and horses if you want to ride around the overcrowded square by stage coach. It's also trying to be bougie to get tourist dollars so you will find steak houses, art galleries galore, and jewelry stores, etc. for nights you are feeling bougie. It has hiking apparel and shoe shores to appeal to the adventurous travelers and kids stores to appeal to the mass amount of families that come here. In the center is a war memorial because I don't know there just is. I guess the positive thing is you can make downtown Jackson whatever you want for an inflated price because it's a hodge podge of randomness with no identity. The streets are narrow, flooded with people and kids, and all of the hotels are overpriced due to the lack of lodging in the area because all the land is protected (ex. national parks, national forests, etc). We spent most of our time in Grand Teton National Park which we loved due to all the nature, although found it tacky that the National Park has an airport in the center of it all. read more

The Jackson Town Square is located at the heart of the city. You can't miss it because the entrances have arches made of elk antlers. On my most recent trip, I spend most of my time during the day at Grand Teton National Park. In the evenings, I enjoyed taking a stroll to this park from my hotel. At the center of Town Square is a stone memorial honoring local veterans. There are plenty of benches to sit on throughout the park. Surrounding the park are restaurants, art galleries, and retail shops. This park is also known as George Washington Memorial Park and was dedicated in 1934. In the summer, there is a horse-drawn stagecoach that circles the park for people to ride on. They erect an ice-skating rink in the winter months. After grabbing a coffee from nearby Cowboy Coffee, I enjoyed relaxing in this beautiful park while doing some people watching. read more

You can't write a review for the City of Jackson Hole, so this is the best next thing. It used to be called Jackson's Hole, but that just brings up bad memories for Macauley Culkin. "Hole" is trapper slang for a mountain valley, and beaver trapper Jackson was one of the first white people to spend a whole winter there back in the 1820s. Prior to that, John Colter (of Lewis & Clark Expedition) wrote of the area, including Yellowstone and Tetons, which was met with great skepticism. Rightfully so, it's one of the most gorgeous chunks of America. Though it's 55 miles long, only 3% of the land is privatized, and I imagine most tourists outside their excursions and lodging think of authentically western Town Square, the only in the entire state, as the heart, and hub for local events. Also known as George Washington Memorial Park, named that in his honor on his 200th birthday, as if monument, capitol, a state, the $1 and the quarter weren't enough, the square hosts farmers markets (since 2000), historic carriage rides, walking tours, ice rink/Santa, nightly Town Square shootouts (we have those in Long Beach, too, but they're not staged). The square is bordered by shops and restaurants (one of which serving my favorite pizza in the country), and huge, unique arches made of elk antlers, first built in 1953. Full of cowboy charm, men find it cool and women find it romantic, and though it's a great destination city on its own, it's only 10 minutes from the Grand Tetons and less than 1.5 hours from both Yellowstone National Park (to the north) and Bear World (to the west). read more

This place is a free place to hang out and watch the pressed Wranglers and Lucchese Boots walk by. Each corner of George Washington Park is arched over by a fantastic pile of elk horns, there must be hundreds of 'em at each corner! In the center of this park is the monument to those Jackson soldiers who have lost their lives in defense of liberty and freedom for our country. Along one edge of this park is the old stagecoach stop, where you can hang out and still wait for a stage if you wish. Most of the sidewalks around this town are wooden planks, so this cement walkway is a nice change from all the other walkways around town. The plaza is surrounded by plenty of shops, restaurants, bars- this is really the center of everything going on in this town! The town square in Jackson Wyoming lies in the heart of the City. To be precise , Jackson is the name of the city and the area including Jackson is referred to as Jackson Hole mainly because the area is surrounded by mountains. The square is a community park, albeit small in area. There are benches and walkways and some landscaping with lawn areas. The distinctive design element are the Elk antler entrance arches on each side of the square. Great for photo ops, thus the crowds that always seem to be present. Selfie's with the Elk Arches seem to be very popular. On Saturday's an seasonal farmer's market can be found selling produce and crafts, honey etc. around the square. Also surrounding the square are a variety of merchant establishments. Wyoming Outfitters, Million Dollar Cowboy Bar, Snake River Grill, Moo's Homemade Ice Cream * Sorbet and the Stage Stop to name a few. Prices are all over the place but many unique items can be found. By way of housekeeping, the elk antler arches that this park is known for, currently have their own Yelp page. They've become so iconic, that they have a review page all to themselves. The larger park, however, is more than just the arches; however, they are inarguably the most well known feature of the entire park, and probably city. The park is lovely, though. Lovely and lively, as it's in the heart of town and it's crawling with people clamoring for a pick under the arches. There are, however, other features including a few shady spots to sit down, historical and informational signage, and monuments to old westy types of things. It's worth noting that you can catch some old west reenactment shootout type show in the evenings around the park. I was here Labor Day one year, which at that time was the last show of the season (no idea current scheduling) and things went off script pretty fast as actors have a lot of pent up creativity and plenty of blank ammo to waste. I'm told there is an ice skating rink here in winter, and I have seen plenty of photos of twinkle lights all up in that arch, so it sounds like there are a full four seasons to enjoy. No matter when, it's just nice having a cute little open spot in the middle of town to enjoy. read more

This is located right in the middle of the town. I walked all over the town and I kept coming back to this park unknowingly. I took a nice place under a tree, spread a linen and sat there, took a time-lapse of the the square and enjoyed my blueberry muffin from Persephone Bakery and ice cream from Moos. Relaxing as it can be, I wanted to take a nap. I felt safe around the area. Tip: bring a nice big blanket or picnic mat with you and enjoy your lunch or dinner under a shade for a relaxing view of the park. You can also read your favorite book and indulge yourself with some fresh air. Ohhh how can I forget.... have a picture taken in front of the Elk Antler Arches!!! This little park is in the center of downtown Jackson Hole. Each entrance to the park is framed by huge arches made of elk antlers. If you don't take a photo under the elk antler arch, did you even Jackson Hole?! (The answer is no, you did not.) My friend and I visited JH in mid-March and there was still an ice skating rink set up in the middle of the park, and we saw some little kids skating around on it. The rink is pretty tiny so I don't know how many adult humans could be accommodated on it but it would be fun to see. The arches were all decorated with Christmas lights, which made for great photos in the evening. The park itself was pretty quiet when we were there (it was covered in snow), but I imagine it's a great place to hang out and relax in warmer months. read more

Saddle up cowboy. You have to visit town square when you are in Jackson Hole (really quite literally because it's the center of town). It feels like the Wild Wild West - bars that have horse saddles as the bar stools, elk antler arches and Christmas lights all year round. I lived in Jackson for over a year and loved just walking around town to window shop, obviously with a cookie in hand from Persephones. Like most town squares, Jackson Town Square appears to be the heart of Jackson Hole. Though this park is small, it is FULL. There are four entrances to this square and they are all flanked by giant arches made of hundreds, maybe even thousands, of interlocking elk antlers. I was horrified, until I learned that elk pretty much shed those antlers and grow new ones. There are benches inside where you can enjoy some food from any of the nearby food establishments surrounding the square while enjoying the view and the passers-by. In the evening, probably on weekends only, the local theater puts on a Wild West show complete with a gunfight. Very well done. Very entertaining. read more

Cute little park. Each side has an arch that was made out of 2000 Elk antlers! (What?! How could they collect 8000 of it?) That was very impressive! This was actually a memorial park. In the center of the park, there is a statue of a cowboy with names of those who served the country during wars. Surrounded by various trees, you can actually sit on the one of the benches and enjoy a cup of coffee. Around this park is the "downtown" of Jackson Hole. This is a quaint center of town park - an oasis of quiet surrounded by the bustle of the shops and restaurants. Just a great place to sit down, relax, take in the sights. Each "entrance" is a bridge of elk antlers (enclosing photo). While there, we learned that the sale of antlers from the National Elk Refuge (down the street) raises funds for the maintenance of the reserve with 20% going to charities supported by the Boy Scouts. Town square is in the middle of the downtown center of Jackson Hole and it is where the iconic picture of the antlers is taken! They have four different entries that are the same and all made of antlers. Super unique and super authentic when you are visiting a state like Wyoming I think it fits the state perfectly. There's a huge park at the center of the town square and from what I read they normally do different scenes and fun stuff played out there from time to time for entertainment. All the stores are surrounding this area so it seems like town square is the initial middle meeting point. So it's a great place to have your location be if you and your family separate ways to do your own shopping, you know to meet there and whatever time. read more

Love this downtown area! The elk archways are so neat and absolutely beautiful when the Christmas lights are on. I love walking downtown with all the decorations and lights! They are currently in the process of opening an ice skating rink. The moose horns with "Jackson Hole" are also a favorite sight for us to see! We are always sure to take our annual arch pictures! I want to come back in the spring so I can see what the monuments and statues see. There is so much history in this little town and I can't wait to learn more about it! read more
