We wanted to end our day and dinner in Ghent with waffles and chose Jack's House for its location and because it seemed like an authentic spot.
There are no prices on display and we went for the full serving with strawberries, chantilly and a scoop of ice cream. What could it cost, right? 6 EUR? 8 EUR each? It's a waffle produced en masse, some whipped cream, a seasonal fruit and ice cream (1EUR per scoop?).
The very unfriendly lady handed us the waffles and asked for a shocking 12EUR per serving. That's a full meal at a lunch place!
Was it good? Yes. Worth it? No! It's a waffle, fruit, cream and ice cream. You can make this at home for almost no money. Of course it's not your home and of course you pay for the experience and that it's made for you, but in combination with deliberately keeping you in the dark regarding prices, this place is a rip off.
And yes, I speak Dutch and French as well. So, no language barrier here. read more
