Fried pork chops, potatoe salad and mac and cheese

I haven't been to Jackie's in years. I was invited for a birthday celebration on today. We had a reserved area for us so we walked right in with no problem. We were greeted within minutes and our drink and food orders were taken. The food came out faster than we anticipated which was definitely a huge plus. We were a party of 15 and the food was piping hot. I ordered the Jackie's feast which came with 5 Shrimp, 2 pieces of catfish, 2 jumbo wings with Mac and cheese and green beans. I asked to switch the green beans for cabbage because the green beans tasted like "Canned beans". The server was able to swap it out for me with no issues. The mac and cheese tasted good and the catfish is definitely Swai. The flavor was definitely there with the cabbage as well. The pork chops needed some salt and the potato salad tasted like it was store bought and doctored up with paprika on top. The time our food came out was outstanding considering we were a larger crowd. Our food was served on real plates. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were using wrapped plastic silverware and plastic cups to drink out of. The fork did melt on us.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall not a bad experience but definitely a list of things to consider if you chose to dine at Jackie's. 1. Plastic silverware 2. Only 2 free refills on sodas and tea 3. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Plastic cup to drink out of[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] 4. Automatic 18% on all dine in orders

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Sunday Dinner with family was nice, I really appreciated the gospel music because I missed church.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I arrived a little later than my family, last minute plans so my order appeared to be placed later which is understandable. The server said the kitchen was a tad backed up and I understood. He brought out my sides first (candied yams and Mac & cheese) to accommodate but I didn't care for the yams this time around, a little too syrupy and mush so I was kindly able to swap for collard greens that were very yummy. The Mac and cheese was pretty good, just expected to be warmer. I mixed my sweet tea with lemonade, which made the tea much tastier than the standard. I absolutely loved my catfish bites -- very hot and fresh! All in all, I'll def be back because I had a better experience with the yams in the past so I know the potential! Also, our server Marcus was awesome! He was so manner-able and attentive which made the experience all the more better.

First time visiting this restaurant. The service was good, but not as warm as it could have been to our party of 10 (gratuity included). I had the fried jumbo chicken wings and shrimp. The shrimp were seasoned well! Loved it. The fries were nice and crisp. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance was nice as we were seated on the lounge side.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

My Husband & I visits Jackie's Restaurant quite frequently; usually around mid-Day, when there's an older crowd there. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The foods, the service, and, the atmosphere there are all very good.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Hopefully, some of our relatives from Norfolk, Virginia will be visiting with us in a few months, and, GOD Willing, we're taking them to Jackie's Restaurant, for a taste the kind of fine foods, like the ones that, we grew up on.

Parking: available in the lot Ordered takeout inside of the restaurant. Had to wait about 40 mins for my food. The inside is spacious and they offer karaoke on select nights. Entree: Bologna Burger with cheese and fried onions 3/5 - large piece of bologna but a little salty. The onions were not fried which was very disappointing. The onions were barely fried and still crunchy . Dessert:Sweet potato pie 4/5 . I would recommend getting a slice. Overall, my food bologna burger was disappointing. It was the only reason I visited the restaurant. I highly recommend calling in a takeout order. I would go back and try something else. Everyone is entitled to an off day.

My Mom and I usually order for pickup, but we decided to dine in today as it had been a few years (prepandemic). The food is freshly made, well seasoned and has great presentation. The wait staff are friendly, patient and helpful throughout the dining experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Colors of turquoise and gray, a few tv's show casing sports decorate the interior that goes along with upbeat music to give a relaxed atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

If I could give this meal 10 stars I would. I ordered the crab cake dinner with a side of greens, potato salad, & a dinner roll. My ONLY complaint is i wish I had gotten 2 rolls . Everything was absolutely delicious . The crab cakes were meaty & cooked to perfection. Those greens were succulent making them mouthwatering delicious. The potato salad taste better than than the Amish people's(if you know you know). I definitely recommend this meal. It is worth every penny.

    Delicious food!

Overall, I enjoyed the experience, but I rate this more of a 3.5 rounded to 4. Ambiance: The spot is historic and well kept. It was clean and we were able to find street parking. Service: The service was friendly, patient, and informal. We came on a Wednesday around noon, so it wasn't too crowded. Our waitress was attentive. Food: The food was good overall, with some standout items and some leaving more to be desired. We started with the clam chowder soup. We found it to be a bit tangy, but it got the job done. We also go the fish dinner with buffalo sauce (on the side). The fish was really good. However, the mac and cheese was grainy. The flavor of the mac and cheese was good, but the flavor is subjective. I also got the oyster po boy sandwich. I was serviceable. It didn't knock my socks off, but I have no complaints. I did enjoy the sauce that came with it. The french fries were fluffy, in a good way. The cornbread was textbook and solid. I didn't wow us, but it was a sizeable portion. Conclusion: Overall, my curiosity has been satisfied, but I didn't get the wow factor. I would consider coming here if I had a strong craving for a fish dinner.

Thankfully we got there early before the Sunday crowd came in and got a booth. Service was good but weird at times with the bar tender being super catty. It appeared she was not in the spirit of team work which made our visit a little uncomfortable. We asked for a cup of ice on the way out and even though the bartender had ice to give she wanted our waitress to get it from the back, it was the ODDEST interaction. The manager ended up helping out but I'm not sure why any restaurant would employ any person who was like that. Ew! Everyone else was all smiles and fantastic! Let's get into it! Oyster Rockefeller- OMG these have to be one of the BEST ones I've ever had in my life! Sooooo GOOD! Like good, good! Buffalo Shrimp - Good! Croakers Brunch Special was okay! Waffle was extremely sweet! Grits were thick, I was not a fan. Overall, I'd come back this food has SOUL! And someone's daddy is making those plates in the back with love! Perfect recommendation and a must do when in Richmond. No frills but good food! Sunday best is okay as most people looked real cute! Okay cute patrons!

We called in a very large order and the lady on the phone was extremely patient and didn't mind helping us make choices. Once we arrived to pick up the food the owner himself came out to welcome us and go over the order. He was very pleasant.... NOW THE FOOD!!!! AMAZING!!! Everything was fresh and hot!!

I really am the HUGEST advocate and supporter for our black owned businesses and restaurants; but I…read morethink that I'd be doing my community a disservice if I wrongly rate my food experience based solely on just that....I ordered two plates: baked turkey wings with baked Mac and cabbage and meatloaf with gravy and mashed potatoes and green beans. The turkey wings were flavorless. They tasted like they were baked with water and its juices that accumulated in the pan from cooking. The Mac and cheese did not own up to its namesake and the cabbage was salty but tender. So I'll give an A+ for texture. Next up is the meatloaf plate: where do I even begin? Let's start with the meat:absolutely dry. I am not certain as to why it was not cooked WITH the gravy, BUT it wasn't. Now the GRAVY: OMG! THICK and straight out of the McCormick, Pioneer or Great value, Kroger or whoever else makes powdered brown gravy mix. Literally mixed per instructions and boiled til thick and nothing else was done to it. No seasoning. No nothing. Listen, I use that pack gravy; but you gotta know what to do with that when you're using it. Mmkay?? Mashed potatoes were homemade which I love; but the dollop of the same meatloaf gravy was ladled on top; so I was unable to even enjoy that one thing on my plate that actually made sense.....the green beans: SALTY! And the cornbread that people had previously raved about that 'was moist and cake like' was dense and had not a drop of sweetness in it. The star of the show was the roll that came with my turkey wing plate. I just warmed that in the oven and threw a bit of honey butter on it because I literally could not consume that food. Our people really gotta do better when it comes to advertising 'soul food', because that comes with expectations that you will deliver a meal that is going to be of comfort and nostalgia. I was EXTREMELY displeased.
