WOW!! I came to Kansas City to visit on my drive to Nevada for a new job... and I was craving some BBQ. My friends brought me here the second I voiced that desire, and I am SO glad they did!! The environment is beautiful to start. We were sat nearly immediately and the customer care was great. Lauren stopped by the table to welcome us, and she was absolutely lovely. I ordered an Arnold Palmer, with the house made Lemonade and Iced tea... the perfect mix and their lemonade was the perfect amount of sweetness. We started with the 9-stack of onion rings, the spicy sauce was delicious! My mouth started watering when I took my first bite, melt in your mouth batter on those rings. SO good! I'm a fiend for great pulled pork, and therefore, I had to get the sammy! Deciding on the sides were the hardest part!! Homemade coleslaw, cheesy corn, and a huge skillet side of jalapeno cornbread with honey butter OMG. Everything was a treat for my taste buds, I can't even explain. I love it. And I had enough leftovers for the next day, too!! Portions are a great size for the price. read more

First introduction to Kansas City BBQ and it did not disappoint despite this being a chain BBQ restaurant. The beef ribs fell off the bone and had a great flavor to them. Same as the pork ribs and all good meat on them. The brisket had really good flavor but it was cut extremely thin, like deli slices. I never knew BBQ could actually be this good. I heard that BBQ was better down south, but I thought that was more a myth. I'd been working in the area for a while and finally decided to look into this mythical BBQ nonsense. After driving around Kansas City, this place had come up a couple times. The parking lots always seems packed and the reviews on Yelp were sounding awesome. This was about an hour and a half drive out of the way, but I knew my fellow Yelpers wouldn't steer me wrong! Boy were they right on point. I would rate this place off the charts if I could. The place is clean. The staff is awesome. The food is phenomenal. Wait times are fairly short, and the prices are right on point. Did I mention my beer was cold??!! We grabbed a Family Style Round Up and dug into some serious meat selections. They serve the meat with a side of extra BBQ sauce, but it's really not needed. The meat is already so perfectly prepared the way it's delivered to the table. I found out afterwards, you can actually have BBQ shipped anywhere. You can even get it shipped free if the order is over $115. Believe me when I say it would be worth the occasional order! I don't 5 star very often, but this place certainly deserves a visit, EVERYTIME I drive by! read more

I can't say a bad thing! We had an excellent experience at Jack Stacks. My daughter and I sat on the bar side and enjoyed some fabulous happy hour onion rings, wings, and ribs. The kids menu is VERY reasonable and has delicious options. My daughter had the barbecue chicken and potato salad it was delicious! I also enjoyed my salad. I must add and emphasize that Bailey our server with the pretty red hair was a total gem, she was obviously working hard and staying on task. She was attentive and helpful. Bailey made excellent recommendations and was very kind. We will definitely return to this location! Ps I definitely must say that the bathrooms and dishes were very well kept, excellent service all around. read more

This location is quite stylish inside. A classy clean look to it. Waiter was attentive but almost phony with how he interacted with us. It was annoying. I had pulled pork and burnt ends and it was very delicious. I was hoping for more options for sides in a KC bbq restaurant. Also, I didn't see extra sauces to add to the meats, which I thought was expected. read more

My mother in law ordered this for our day after Christmas get together. A great option because it's less work and clean up for us so that we can enjoy each other's company! brisket- hardly any fat, lots of flavor burnt ends- favorite dish of the bunch pulled pork - good heavenly baked beans - amazing as usual. Disappeared faster than I would've liked Potato salad - wonderful, good balance of potatoes and the other stuff (mayo etc) Pickles - wish they filled the to go container to the brim. Always appreciate jack stacks consistency in food quality and flavor. If you're ever in Kansas City this is a must to stop by or order food to go. read more

It had been some time since we had been to Jack stack. We arrived about 20 min until happy hour. I was unsure of what I wanted but opted for Happy hour options over the Salmon. I had the Onion Rings, Port Spare ribs and Fire Kissed wings The misses had deep fried mushrooms and Spinach Salad while we shared an order of Smoked Jalapeno Cheddar Cornbread. The wings- the flats were under seasoned and the drums over seasoned. The Spare ribs - were bland. The Onion Rings - these were great, seasoned well, not to thick and had a great crunch. The salad was tasty and the mushrooms had a solid crunch on the outside and juicy in the middle. The cornbread was great as usual. I have never had the onion rings or spare ribs, I will reorder the rings. read more

We had lunch with fast service and a very friendly waitress. The restaurant was noisy and more of a sports bar atmosphere. We ordered burnt ends with macaroni and fries, which was delicious and a smoked chicken salad, which didn't have much to say about any chicken in it or smoke flavor, but a huge salad with ranch dressing and a couple tomatoes . Very tasty but with not having chunks of chicken it was a disappointment, not what I expected. A great place for any type of meat/barbecue type food. read more

Travelling thru and it was recommended and it didn't disappoint. I sat at the bar and the service was quick and attentive. The ribs were meaty and had excellent flavor. The star of the show was the broccoli! I know that sounds odd but I eat vegetables mostly because they're healthy and your momma says you should. But how they season this broccoli is so good and topped with light Parmesan. Don't overlook this excellent side dish. read more

This was my first time coming to Jack Stacks and it was excellent. From the service to drinks and the food it was absolutely A+. Our server Colin was super nice and professional. The smell of BBQ smoke hits you as soon as you walk in...that's a good thing. Had the burnt ends lunch special. It was very good. I tried the beef and pork burnt ends. The pit beans and garlic broccoli were excellent. Ordered a glass of cabernet sauvignon, but it tasted like merlot. It was very busy and took a while to get our drinks. Maybe it got mixed up, but they fixed it quickly. Food, drinks, and service were great. Nice portions. I would return. read more

During my visit to the KC area a couple of weeks ago, I picked this restaurant to feed my bbq fix for dinner one night. Upon walking in, I was impressed with the interior reminding me of an upscale steak house with its dark looks. I ordered a sandwich with 1/3 lb. of brisket and burnt ends that comes with one side. After talking to my waiter he said that I could actually get 2 smaller sides instead of one big side. I took him up on the offer and asked for baked beans and potato salad. The food came out in about 10 minutes. The sandwich was perfect. Oh, those meats were succulent. The brisket was so tender and the burnt ends had so much flavor, it was a dream to eat (5). I added some of their original sauce to it which I really liked too. The baked beans had brisket meat in its content which along with the sauce made them as good as I have ever had (5). Finally the mayo based potato salad was both creamy and chunky with celery in it and delicious (4). Both side servings were plenty adequate in size so I assume if I had just ordered one side it would have been quite large. During the meal, my table service was very good. For $12.49 this meal filled me up and represented good value. I would love to order it again and return here. This is a quality restaurant that serves excellent bbq. I am sold! read more

My god this place is good. I was stuffed, and am trying to lose weight, but we wanted to try this place after going to the chiefs game. I had the lamb ribs which I thought were incredible and the brisket which I thought was pretty good. The baked beans were amazing and the creamed corn was good as well. Lee Summit is a nice jack stack location. Jack Stack always does a good job of consistently putting out solid barbecue. Typically get their burn ends either as an appetizer or an entrée. Always good size flavorful. if not feeling the barbecue their salmon, salad is awesome If you're with a group, their family style boards are the way to go worth it to pay a bit extra to throw on the crown rib now and then. read more

Tracey was so personal and went out of her way to make us feel welcome, informed and satisfied from start to finish. We had visited before and Tracey's service is consistent and memorable. You can't go wrong with good bbq from Jack Stack. We went in for dinner with friends and sat on the patio. Beautiful day, I ordered the Arkansas chicken which is a stiff breast with your choice of meat. With a baked potato which was huge and hit the spot. Love our local option right in town. read more

We had a large group to celebrate a graduation - about 15 of us. There was a number of large parties. They did a great job handling the group, including split checks. There was a bit of confusion when we were seated as another party started to be seated in our spot. It was handled efficiently and without any issues. The food was great. I definitely recommend the smoked fish dip. It's a good size for sharing. Only downside side was there was not enough bread for it but was delicious on its own, so nit a huge issue. The burnt ends were great.the brisket was good but not the best I've had. A number of our group ordered the pulled pork Mac and cheese. After the order was put in, the waitress advised they were out of pork. It happens in bbq places so not a huge deal. She very efficiently and without any additional cost was angle to get the meat choices switched out. Overall a very good experience. Sometimes with large groups you don't expect great service. I was pleasantly surprised how great they were with everything from ordering, to refills to getting us checked out. read more

While in Missouri, we had to have bbq! This place was recommended. It is quite a large restaurant and was pretty busy. If it's a weekend you may want to make a reservation. They have a pretty extensive menu. There are sampler platters which were suggested by the waitress. Our server approached us right away and got our drinks. We ordered some appetizers. The jalapeño corn bread was delicious. It's served in a small cast iron pan nice an warm. We also shared the shrimp app which was really good. It was big enough for our group with 10 pieces. We decided to try one of the sampler platters. The one we got had ribs, shredded pork, burnt beef tips, and beef brisket all with with baked beans and cheesy corn. It was more than enough for 5 of us to share. We also got a turkey and beef brisket dinner with coleslaw (delicious) and more cheesy corn. One of us ordered a chicken dish, but ended up not eating it because it didn't smell good. Definitely worth going to if you're in the area and are craving bbq. read more

When I decided to drive from NC to Kansas, I was undecided on everything, from route, to hotels to stop at. The ONLY certainty was stopping at Jack stacks. This is KC BBQ at its best. The burnt ends (they're not actually burnt its the rub) are fantastic, and extremely difficult to find in NC. I like to judge my BBQ by whether or not I need a knife to cut it, and Jack's didn't disappoint, never needed a knife. So tender, so flavorful, and juicy. Perfection read more

Jack stack bbq came highly recommended from some of my local coworkers! We decided to check it out during our lunch break. The food was fantastic and worth every cent! The beef ribs were tender and falling off the bone. The chicken was fully cooked, juicy, and so good with their Hot barbecue sauce! And the brisket melted in my mouth. I am not a huge bbq connoisseur, but this place had such great quality I'll be back for sure. Most entrees come with fries, however they will let you swap them out for something else. I swapped them out for their cheesy potato bake (similar to au gratin potatoes). They were amazing! I could make an entire meal from those potatoes. read more

Great food and great service! Walked in on Father's Day they told us an hour wait, ended up getting in 5 minutes later! Sat down we ordered the two for cue (a ton of food) with all the best side dishes and it was absolutely amazing! One of the best spots for a nice family friendly dinner! read more

Living in Kansas City we get the benefit of trying all of the best BBQ that can be offered. I have not tried every single BBQ place but I have tried all of the heavy hitters. By far my favorite is Jack Stack! I absolutely love their wings, hands down the best wings you can literally get anywhere in the entire city BBQ or other. They have by far the best baked beans out of anywhere I have tried. Their burnt ends and ribs are consistently phenomenal. Not much to say that hasn't been said. Incredible! I ended up getting the pulled pork and brisket, along side the potato salad and the beans. It is probably the best barbecue that I've had in Kansas City. However it is a little bit pricey, but it is worth it if you want to quality meal. read more

Started by Russ Fiorella in 1957, Jack Stack got its start as a traditional storefront barbecue in the heart of Downtown Kansas City. Jack Fiorella, the eldest of Russ' sons, worked with his father until 1974 when he decided to branch off and start Fiorella's Jack Stack Barbecue in Martin City, MO. To stand out in the competitive barbecue scene of the 1970s, Jack and his wife, Delores, began smoking gourmet meats over hickory wood and created the most extensive barbecue menu in the country.

I've given Jack Stack multiple chances over the years, and if I'm being honest, the only reason I'd ever recommend going is for the baked beans. They are hands down my favorite baked beans anywhere. They're smoky, sweet, rich, and packed with flavor. I genuinely don't think anyone does baked beans better. The restaurants themselves are always clean, well-kept, and have a nice atmosphere. They feel a little more upscale than your typical BBQ joint, making them a comfortable place to sit down and enjoy a meal. The service has always been amazing. Every employee I've interacted with has been friendly, attentive, and professional. Unfortunately, I just can't say the same about the food anymore. It feels like the quality has declined more and more over the years. Every visit, something seems to be off, whether it's meat that lacks seasoning or BBQ that ends up being dry. I've wanted to like it because of how often it's recommended, but I've consistently left disappointed with the food itself. If you're visiting Kansas City for the first time and only have time for one or two BBQ spots, I'd personally recommend Joe's KC BBQ or Q39 instead. Those are the places I think really showcase what Kansas City BBQ has to offer. Jack Stack just feels a little too much like a chain restaurant for my taste, and with so many incredible local BBQ options in the city, I think there are much better choices. read more

Went to Jack Stacks in Lee's Summit, with another couple for his birthday around noon for lunch on Sunday, 7/10/2016. I couldn't believe the beans. They weren't smoked, no meat at all in the beans. It tasted like it came from a can and the chef put a lot of brown sugar in the beans. Next time we'll just go to Martin City's Jack Stacks. For the high price you pay to eat at Jack Stacks you would expect the beans to be like the way they make it at Jack Stacks in Martin City or Overland Park. read more

We had a wonderful experience at Jack Stack Barbecue - Lee's Summit. The atmosphere feels elevated, even though the dress code is casual. The food was amazing, and the staff was incredibly friendly. Our server misheard my husband's order, they handled it so graciously, encouraging him to keep the original dish and brought the other one out. That level of service really stood out. The BBQ it self was delicious.. my husband and I got the prime short rib and brisket burnt ends (in photo), cheesy corn, baked beans (were smoky not too sweet), onion rings (SO GOOD), and slaw (a bit watery but okay). I would not recommend the pork burnt ends, the brisket ones were 10/10- thanks for the rec Ron. My kids got the kids rib plate. The jalepeno cheese sausage was damn near dehydrated it was so over cooked. My entire party assumed these were old product that had been reheated too many times. I hope that was it. Now for the highlights. The service was friendly and the chicken quarters were outstanding. Great flavor, juicy, a big hit. My date had ham that was also very good. Lunch for 2 (albeit a big lunch) was $70. I expected better.
