Jack Daniel's Distillery: in Lynchburg, TN. Of all the wine /bourbon etc tours that I've done, this is the best tour ever. Our guide seemed to absolutely enjoy his job and was very informative and funny. Whiskey making is sure complex, land to know the Jack Daniel's barrel is reused by Scotch whiskey etc. Correctly drinking whisky involves first swirling it and smelling it. Then pour it to mouth with head backwards, then bend neck towards, dip tongue in whiskey (which is oils be near tip of tongue now, thanks to gravity) while counting 1001,1002; then straighten so whiskey coats rest of tongue tip to backwards. Feel the burn and smoothness and different flavors. We took the 55 dollar tour which came with a complimentary glass. We also engraved in a bottle; one for us and other for my brother.
A must do! Such a fun tour! I'm so grateful they were able to accommodate kids, because traveling with mine and wanting to experience this tour could have been tricky otherwise, it made the whole experience so much easier and enjoyable for our family. The tour itself had a great balance of everything: a bit of history, insight into the process of making the alcohol, plenty of humor, and lots of walking to keep things interesting. The guides did a wonderful job of keeping it engaging from start to finish, and it all wrapped up with a tasting at the end. What I especially appreciated was learning about the process behind making whiskey. It gave me a whole new respect for the craft, it's such a detailed and thoughtful process. Funny enough, I don't normally drink whiskey, but after this experience, I just might start because of how much care goes into making it! Overall, such a unique and memorable experience, I'd definitely recommend it!
I was born & raised in Middle TN and had always heard of this place. Today I finally got to go visit it. Not only is it a very cool history lesson, but you get to see how the best whiskey in the world is made. There are samples at the end as well. We had the sweetest little host as well named Hannah who was very knowledgeable and sweet. She made the tour fun. To my surprise, she said she had inly been a guide for 3 months. I would've figured she had been working there 10 years because she seemed like a natural.
You don't have to be a fan of JD or even a whiskey drinker to enjoy this tour. In fact, kids can come on the tour but cannot, of course, partake in the whiskey sampling near the end. Personally, I think kids might be a little bored on the tour, depending on their age. I wouldn't personally bring them. The drive to Lynchburg from downtown Nashville takes a good 90 minutes. Lynchburg itself is tiny but absolutely gorgeous. It's incredibly green and lush. The grounds of the distillery are also beautiful. It was definitely not what I expected and I mean that in the best way. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable. You walk through the entire facility, from building to building. The aromas of the fermentation and other aspects of the manufacturing process are amazing although very hard to describe. It's like a grainy, corny aroma. It's akin to being in a room filled with barrels at a winery, although the aroma is different. At the end of the tour, you get six samples of different iterations of JD (Old No. 7, Single Barrell, Fire, etc.). It's not a lot of juice in total but it's enough for sampling purposes and hopefully not enough to get a drunk driving ticket. You can also purchase bottles of Jack in their "bottle shop." Apparently, as long as you don't call it a liquor store, you can sell Jack in this "dry" county. Make reservations in advance. It's a very worthwhile tour.
Not my first visit to Jack Daniel Distillery but still such a fun place to tour. This is the stuff of legends and you get to walk about the grounds, sniff the whiskey and see how it's all made. I think my favorite part is seeing the little spring that supplies all the water (and has supplied ALL the water) for every bottle of Jack Daniels ever produced and sold around the world! That's just amazing. Of course there is a tasting at the end which is fun to compare the various products and a "bottle" shop if you want to bring home a special bottle from Lynchburg (that might be filled with something... wink wink) Definitely worth the trip and the town is fun to wander around also
We loved our tour at the Jack Daniel's Distillery! The grounds were beautiful, our tour guide was very knowledgeable, and we were able to walk through several of areas of production (not just look from afar). I don't drink, but the tasting was very diverse and the guide made it good natured and fun. Even if you are not a whiskey lover, this is an awesome tour that shares the deep history, culture, and production of Tennessee whiskey. Would definitely do again!

For us, there was no reason. We ended up waiting around for 30 minutes but it wasn't a deal breaker. We checked in and got our tickets and were able to pay $10 to be able to have a jack slushie drink on the walking tour (lemonade or coke). Once the tour starts it's pretty smooth and constant. A bus drops you off at the top of a hill and off you go. Our tour guide Kayla was awesome. She was super cute and funny and kept the tour on track and managed to deal with a hunch of different types of personalities and groups. I also should have asked her what type of setting spray she used but her makeup didn't budge and she didn't break a sweat! We got to see where the magic is made and all of the steps through the process. We got little history lessons sprinkled throughout the tour on top of fun facts and info on exactly how jack Daniel's is made and what the difference is between each type. It concluded with a tasting flight of six types of jack Daniel's (enough to stay under the legal limit). It was again fun and informational and I tried some versions I had never tried and even learned of a new flavor coming out later this summer. After the tour was over we went to their "bottle shop" and purchased a bottle and got it engraved which was a great souvenir. You can then walk (5 minutes) or take the tram over to Lynchburg and check out their town and general store where they sell JD merch. The merch itself isn't that great but you can maybe find something for a souvenir! All in all totally worth the trip and the money and would recommend.
First time in Nashville and we carved out a day for this tour. About an hour and a half away by car. The road trip is very scenic taking you through beautiful farm lands. The distillery is on beautifully manicured grounds. You will learn everything there is to know about Jack Daniel, his life , family, and passion for the perfect whiskey. There a fun tasting at the end of the tour where you try original Ole no. 7 as well as new products. Overall a very pleasant and entertaining experience. Walking distance is the old hardware store and market square. A beautiful taste of Americana. Get the frozen drinks at the start of the tour they are fantastic.
Jack Daniel's was my first whisky. This is a must do when I'm in town. After putting about 200 bottles of Jack Daniels over the years, I finally get to know where and how the bottles are made. The tour guide is cool and knowledgeable, makes the tour experience even more fun and enjoyable. The cave spring water and the 10ft tall filter tower are the highlights of the tour. And of course, the whiskey tasting at the end gives a great and remarkable ending to the tour.

This place is quite far but it is totally worth the drive. My husband and I did the bourbon and whiskey trail and this was our last stop. And we couldn't have ended it at a more beautiful distillery. A fun place with delicious frozen cocktails and tiny tastings (which yes is odd but apparently the county this distillery is in is still dry since prohibition). I wish this wasn't in a dry county because it'd be so lovely to have lunch with more drinks or even large events like wedding and such. Everyone is so nice and it's a wonderful experience which could totally be more.

We went to the distillery on August 30, 2025., our tour was at 2;10. We had a Wonderful tour guide. Her name is Dana, she was a Wealth of information. She knew every question we asked. Besides being a FANTASTIC guide, She was fun & made our tour so enjoyable. She was a very Happy person. Jack DANIELS should be honored having her as an employee. If I owned a business I would Definitely want her working for me. I can't say enough GOOD things about her. She started the tour with a Fantastic upbeat. And it ended in an upbeat. I hope you recognize this Wonderful employee. I'll be back & would want her as my tour guide. The only disappointment was you were out of the Heritage Whiskey. This was not my first time here. Gets more enjoyable every time. But Dana has been the best guide ever. Besides the Great tour, the grounds are Beautiful, and everything is meticulously. Everything is extremely clean. Top notch experience. Getting to learn the process of how this whiskey is made will give you a different appreciation for the product. It's definitely filled with a rich history. My favorite part was definitely the colorful and animated tour guide. Her country twang added a special ambiance to the tour experience and was very delightful. The tasting was an absolute treat at the end. The amazing part is that once you smell the corn aroma from the distillation process, you can actually sense it in the whiskey during the tasting. We came in and did the 90 min angels share tour. Worth every penny! Debbie was our tour guide and she did an amazing job! Very knowledgeable. The whole place was clean well kept and had a great ambiance. I'm glad we came in off season I couldn't imagine it during peak season. Was more enjoyable this way. The tasting was at the end in a really cool tasting room. Would 100% recommend. read more

The tour guide Casey was amazing very fun and energetic. I really enjoyed how he attempted to keep the crown engaged. I have attended other tours and I must admit this was nothing special. I've had a more enjoyable experience at other places. The tour is long but there truly wasn't that much information or things to see. I am also wondering how the popularity of uncle nearest is affecting what Jack Daniels produces. The cave was cool though, the tasting was okay given that is is a small dry town but it almost would be better weaved through out instead of at the end. Also I was expecting a little more branding throughout. More places with Jack Daniels on the wall. Again the services of Casey and the staff were great but it just seems like there was an opportunity to do more. It also feels like it was a gimmick to get people to go into town and spend money. Which I did spend 60 or so bucks in order to get the shot glass. It just seems like a money grab now compared to other experiences. read more

The tour was great! Full of interesting information and it was upbeat. Our host Shawn ( guessing spelling) was very personable and definitely made it more enjoyable than some other tours we have enjoyed at other distilleries. Really enjoyed the hot cocoa. This was a nice seasonal experience. The shuttle experience was nice and all the shop staff were inviting and friendly. I can't think of a single complaint other than too many items to choose from and we spent too much money. read more

Easily one of the best tours I've been to my girlfriend and I were passing through and decided to make a detour and it was well worth the added few hours to our already long drive! Jon T was an excellent guide and was very funny. Would love to return in 2-3 years and see what else is new. read more
Thumbs up to our tour guide Justin who is fun, enthusiastic and educated us with the whole history of Jack Daniel's. We couldn't ask for a better Tour guide! My only complaint to corporate is that, the tour is too long (almost a 2 hour tour) we started at 11:15am and didn't end til 1pm and how are you going to be so conservative in the alcohol pours for the tasting? I sat in a tour bus for 3 hours total (back and forth from Nashville) to YOUR distillery and we only get ONE drop of liquor tasting?!! You serious??! I should of just went to the local liquor store and saved 5 hours of my life. I've been to many whiskey and scotch tastings and they actually give you an actual 1oz pour from a jigger. Please reconsider your pouring in the tasting room and be a little bit more generous as you have tourist coming all over the country to try yo ur products! On a visit to Nashville a group of us were treated to a day at the distillery. Our tickets were purchased in advance but I know there are a couple of tours you can select from. Our tour guide was amazing. She was down to earth and made the entire tour interesting and enjoyable. At the end we were treated to a selection of fine whiskey and bourbon. While you are there, try to visit with Buddy. He is a local fan favorite! read more
What an awesome experience this was. Getting to see the whole process from start to finish and learn along way was really fun. Our tour guide was phenomenal and gave us so many tidbits of information that really made the experience once in a lifetime. We signed up for the basic tour and were blown away by the size of the facilities and the story of how Jack Daniel's started. The tour does require quite a bit of walking, so dress appropriately. We parked downtown and had a pleasant walk through town to get to the where the tours depart from. Just an overall great time and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is interested in whiskey and bourbon. read more

We had an amazing tour by Jacob! Very thorough and polite. The tour was so cool and just the right amount of information and showing of the distillery. The tour ended with some great whiskey tasting and Jacob went into detail about each whiskey we were trying which was very helpful. We had a great time on our Angel's Share tour with Sean D! The 90 minute tour and tasting ($35/pp) takes you through the distilling process from the charcoal making to the spring that's their entire water source to the barrels they make to distill the whiskey. So informative! Most of the tour is outside, or in the fermentation rooms, so be prepared if it's a hot day! It's about a two hour drive from Nashville. I made reservations in advance via their website. Make sure you're on time: no refunds for late comers or no shows! read more

10/10 loved the tour, loved the price, loved the history and loved the town right next to it. Great day tour to stop in when your coming or going from Nashville, TN or Chatanooga, TN. Worried we needed advanced tickets but we came on a sunday in December so it was not packed. For the summer I recommend advanced tickets. read more

Absolutely recommend taking a tour. We had the walking tour with tasting and our tour guide was Kim. She was amazing, so knowledgeable and funny. Much of the information she provided was new to us and it was incredible to see the whiskey process first hand. I also appreciate the tasting as that's how we narrowed down what to purchase later on. Absolutely worth every penny. Also, if you can, purchase the slushes. They are so good! read more
I embarked on a journey to experience possibly the number one whiskey in the world, Jack Daniel's. I'm huge on travel and figured I might be Jack's next fan, so that was enough to draw me in! The parking was free, so that was an excellent start! There was even a shuttle that took us to the building for free! It was basically across the street, so it was a quick ride. I had the pleasure of going here with my significant other. We purchased The Flight Of Jack Tour. It was an educational, lengthy tour to say the least. They took our photograph towards the beginning of the tour. We began our long walk after that. I ended up trying a spray of moonshine, so that was interesting for Jack Daniel's Distillery to offer. It was super strong, so take caution if you have the chance to try it. If you're like me, it's pretty hard to pass up something that's free. Later on in the tour, we got to smell from a whiskey drum. Let me tell you, it was a scent that I'll almost never forget. I'd like to say more, but I would rather not scare you. If you're offered to do it, you should just be brave and do it. I'm sure you would regret it later if you didn't. Towards the end of our tour, we went in a barrel room. It was insane how many barrels they had in there. I loved the way they had the barrels lined up. It was soothing in a weird way. Maybe I was just excited to try their whiskey, though. I tried Jack Daniel's Old No.7 Brand from a barrel. That was an excellent way to experience whiskey! It had a smooth and enjoyable taste, as I assumed it would. After we viewed that barrel room, we moved on to the tasting portion of the tour. There were six flavors on our palette to try. The flavors were Jack Daniel's Gentleman Jack, Jack Daniel's Old No.7 Brand, Jack Daniel's Barrel Aged Rye, Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey, Jack Daniel's Tennessee Fire, and Jack Daniel's Tennessee Apple. There was a specific way to conduct the tasting, so that made things a little more interesting. They all had a warm taste to them in their own unique way! I enjoyed them all, but Jack Daniel's Tennessee Apple was my favorite! It just really stood out to me a bit more than the others and seemed as if it had a built-in formula to provide a lighter bite. They gave a cup of water next to my palette, but that didn't do much for me with the bites of all these whiskeys. Our tour guide was friendly and informative. He led the tour productively from start to finish. Our group was small, so I feel we got to interact with him more personally than we would have if the tour was designed to hold a larger amount of people. Overall, this tour took me by surprise! It made for a good time and I'm glad it was my first distillery tour. If you're in Tennessee and have the chance, you should check this place out! I'd love to go again someday! The Angel's Share Distillery Tour ($35) plus a Jack and Coke Slushee to enjoy mid tour for an extra $10 is a great experience to learn about the history of Jack Daniels while sampling five distinct whiskey's at the end. You do have to walk and climb a few stairs during this tour (with no bathrooms along the way), so you should definitely be aware of your capabilities if you have any disabilities or whatnot. The tour guide was clever and witty, as well as super informative. The drop in temperature at the cave was cool, especially in the hot and humid summer in June. Something I wish I had known earlier is that the gift store is located in the town square - we visited this about a 7 minute walk away before the tour to kill time. They only have the bottle shop at the distillery (they only sell the bottles and fill in the liquid for "free" due to the Tennessee law of the property being located in a dry county - the tour will explain that!). The history of how Jack Daniels came to be is interesting and I had no idea. Would definitely recommend the highest tier tour if you have the time! read more

What a fabulous tour and I don't even like jack Daniels. The area/landscaping was beautiful. Our tour guide was wonderful. She spoke loud enough for all to hear and gave such a great presentation. The history of Jack Daniels live was so interesting and the fact his nephew kept the distillery in the same town was truly amazing. I now know all kinds of interesting facts about Jack as a person and his liquor: He was 6 when he first starting making whiskey and 16 when he first purchased the distillery. He was never married, never had children. His exact birth and death are unknown as the building burnt down that held all the town records. He died from complications of gangrene years after kicking the safe in his office. The distillery have three generations of employees working there and all the Jack Daniels whiskey is made in this one location as it is their only distillery. If you're in the area check it out it's so worth it. And I say that even after getting soaked in a down pour of rain during the tour. read more
I was skeptical about the commitment as we had to rent a car (Zipcar doesn't approve your new account asap - thank God For Turo) and block a day to make the trek from Nashville. It was awesome!!! Definitely reccomend. Loved every second and while I am not a whiskey fan I've always loved the Jack Daniels logo and we have a lot of their swag.... now that I've gotten the rich history I'm now all in. The bottle shop was awesome. Some rare finds and you can get personalized engraving!!! As for the tour- Ashley was AMAZING! I wish I snapped a photo with her. Third generation family worker here . Loved her spunk and personality. Don't hesitate. Make the trip. And don't sweat taking kids. The science and education is awesome. read more
While in Nashville we decided to go to the Distillery and learn how Jack is made and what an amazing experience. Lynchburg we're they are making Jack Daniel's is a dry county, and all of Jack Daniel's is manufactured right here at this plant ! It was an amazing tour. There are two tours you can take. We decided to take the tasting tour and if you decide to ever take this tour you must be able to walk a bit of a distance and climb many steps otherwise don't waste the money. The tour brings you through each and every step of how they make Jack and gives you the history of the company. It was great. Tasting was really fun too. The grounds of this amazing place are breathtaking. I definitely would recommend if you like Jack to definitely head out there. read more

Has anyone taken multiple different tours? If so do they cover a lot of the same areas with different tastings at the end or do they mostly cover different areas of the distillery?
The tours are essentially the same. The only difference is the dry, standard, or premium tastings at the end. When I say essentially the same the differences are based on your docent.

No, you go in and out of warehouse type buildings. Lots of stairs and confined areas with groups of about 20 people. Not fair to the dogs or the other group members.

Angel share is the premiums. Jack Daniel's Single Barrel, Jack Daniel's Barrel Proof, Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Rye & Jack Daniel's Sinatra Select and Gold 27. If you want to do this tour book way in advance it sells out fast.
