I just happened to see an ad for Guajana Rum while attending a Trash Panda's Game at Toyota Field, and I'm SO happy I did! I am a great lover of Rum... so much that I've built a Tiki Bar in my home and I have easily over 50 rums. So finding out there was a Rum Distillery just a short drive away, I had to go! It was an absolutely wonderful experience. My wife had a Rum Old Fashioned followed by a Rum Manhattan (first time either of us had tried a Manhattan with Rum.... AMAZING), while I had a tasting flight followed by a Last Word Cocktail. Everything was FANTASTIC. I HIGHLY recommend doing a tasting flight of all of their offerings. First, the vodka (Sagrav 80) was just wonderful, but still had the wonderful taste of sugar from the molasses it was made from. Each of the Rums were so flavorful, my favorites were the 86 and the 106, but the 89 and 108 were also amazing. Finally, the Gin (Guajana 80) was very surprising! Again, the wonderful sweetness from the Molasses comes out, and just wonderfully compliments the juniper, citrus peel, and other infusions that make up the Gin. If the drinks and the liquor are not wonderful enough for you (they were for me ), the hospitality of Luis and his wife will make you feel at home. From the moment we walked in they made us feel like family and took the time to explain the unique details of each of their offerings to make sure we found exactly what we wanted. I loved the experience so much I took one bottle of everything they offered home with me, and I look forward to coming back often to get more... as I'm sure to quickly run out at home! This place is a little tucked away GEM! The owners take obvious pride in what they do. They are welcoming and approachable. Luis was warm and funny, but we also learned some chemistry along the way. We did a tasting, a tour, and stayed for cocktails. Even though their specialty is rum, my personal favorite was the gin! The flavor was complex and smooth, and the La Flora cocktail Marilu made was PERFECT! My girlfriend got a Smoked Rum Fashioned, and it was also on point. 10/10 :) Don't sleep on this spot. read more

So for my birthday, which had past but I was out of country, my friend asked me if I wanted to meet her for drinks. I seldom turn down drinks and I don't know that I have ever turned her down so I accept. She say that we were going to meet at a place named GuajanaRum, and I was like, "OK...sure...send me the address...". When she sent it I looked it up to find out it is a place to relax with in house made rum from the ancestry of the Peña family. This was impressive to me that a small batch rum company was in the Huntsville/Madison area. I was excited to see what it was like. As I got there and opened the door, I was greeted by the "bartender" and asked if it was my first time. I sat and she served samples of the vodka and rum varieties. The owner, with a great smile came over and we talked about the sample I appreciated most as he let me know several things about the fare. I felt a sense of home as I tried to decide which beverage I was going to select. I picked the Enchantment, which was a fruit flavored dream of a beverage! Not too sweet but all of the fruit flavor explosion you can handle. As my second drink, selected the Mojito. Look...I have had Mojitos in a lot of places both in country and out of country, on beaches and in great restaurants. I have NEVER had a Mojito so fresh and so delicious, that is made right in front of of me! The Mojito was worth going! My friend came and I found out that food can be brought into the establishment, which made it even more like a place that you want to stay and talk and watch sports and drink wonderful drinks! I picked up a bottle of my favorite rum and bid them farewell, making sure they knew I would come back (they have a tour of the distillery, but I didn't get a chance to see it this time, so I will have to come back, right?!?). I left with the same smokes that greeted me. This was a great find of a new establishment (they have been in business for about six months but they have the feel of an Old World establishment. Very well done, and I am excited about coming back and trying the other concoctions! read more

Had a great date night at Guajana Rum Distillery trying out some new cocktails. The atmosphere was friendly and inviting. Conversation was easy and wide ranging with my wife, the staff and other patrons, making it the perfect spot for a casual night out. Tried and bought a bottle of the white rum to add to my home bar. The rum reminded me of my maternal grandfather. I remember chewing on cane at my Grandparents place in Florida as a little fellow and playing with my cousins. Drove past this place over a year and a half, but didn't know they had a tasting room/Bar until earlier this year when I saw an event on Instagram.. Decided to stop by on my day off honestly just to "see" inside and decide if I wanted to come back another time....was greeted so warmly by the owners Marie Lou and Luis I ended up having a tasting, a cocktail, taking a tour and leaving with a couple bottles.
