Sue was running the show and was fantastic. She was slammed late in the day and handled it beautifully. I'd been to their place in Nashville before but never to the distillery; we got there too late for a tour and tasting (fyi, they won't start that after 4pm..) so we did a whisky flight and a bourbon flight. All were truly very good! It's a beautiful drive out there as well. Wish we'd gotten there sooner; there is a table out front which would be great to enjoy on a nice day. Definitely recco! read more

Last tasting at 3 pm and it was worth every minute. Loved Eali who shared tons of local history with my dad and I who visited on a whim one random Tuesday in spring. Definitely stop for a visit! Also picked up 3 bottles- gin, red corn bourbon, and Clayton James 90 proof that we're all delicious. Knowledgable, kind people selling a great product! read more

Amazing Experience at the Distillery! Had a fantastic time on the distillery tour -- Devon did an amazing job guiding us through the process! She was knowledgeable, engaging, and made the whole experience fun and memorable. The staff were all incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the visit even better. We also got to sample some great-tasting products -- each one unique and full of flavor. Highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a great time and some quality spirits! Very chill vibe to hang out. The slushy machine is such a wonderful idea the Carmel apple drink was awesome! It's a little off the beaten path but so glad we stopped by. read more

Great service! Trinity and Rudy and Autumn were all very knowledgeable and an absolute joy! This may be a small distillery but what a punch it packs! Even though I have not been a vodka or gin person these were remarkable and the spiked pouches were perfectly balanced between flavor and not overly sweet. Well worth the visit and I will certainly be back!!! read more

The look of the place gives you an old time feel but a really cool old time feel. it's off the beating path which is extremely out of the way if you was doing a focus road trip. The atmosphere was homie and lax. If I would suggest one thing I would suggest they work on greeting customers while assisting others, just so everyone feels recognized, also maybe having an option for flights(shots of all flavors) for one set discounted price(they have shots but sold individually)instead of the tasting(which are really, really small). But for the most part cool place to visit. read more

I agree completely with the previous reviewer of this distillery. My wife and I just completed a tour of distilleries all through Kentucky and Tennessee. We went to a bunch, and tour-wise, this was the absolute best! Sure, you can go through a Jim Beam or Jack Daniels 'cattle call' -- which feels more like a ride at Disney World than a first-hand look at how good whiskey is made. This, on the other hand, was incredibly informative, informal and fun. Tenn South was a bit off-the-beaten path. But well worth every minute of the detour. If you do a tour of the Bourbon Trail, do yourself a favor and go to Tennessee South. read more

This craft distillery is near the tiny town of Lynnville, and while it is indeed off the beaten path, it is well worth visiting. The building and interior are gorgeous: warm, cozy, and rich, and the main room overlooks the rolling misty green hills of Tennessee. Really beautiful little gem in the middle of the countryside. We got a personal tour from an employee, and one of the owners even dropped by to say hello and answer questions. What a unique and great experience it was. Instead of a big group tour, this was a personalized experience that was exactly what we wanted--a tour that fostered and encouraged a love and appreciation of quality distilled spirits on the micro level. We ended with a tasting of a variety of TennSouth's offerings, and ended up buying bottles of their All Purpose Shine and Clayton James whiskey. Great place! read more

I've been several times since they opened, but my last ended my trips. I was served mixers with mold floating in them in 3 straight cups. The "guide" laughed at each one. I love their blackberry and peach pie moonshines, but I'd rather drive 20 minutes to buy it from a liquor store than the 8 to buy it from the distillery because of the attitude of most of the employees. I've visited 10+ distilleries all over Tennessee and Kentucky and this is by far the bottom of the list for me. Their Clayton James whiskey isn't even close to something I would drink on a regular basis, but they tried to pressure me into buying it. I've yet to find someone who doesn't stink whiskey just because of the name of label actually enjoy it. read more

Best alcohol production tour ever! I have been many places around the world for wine, whiskey and beer but this was the best experience I ever had. I rolled up by myself and was treated to a personal tour by the owner Clay. He gave ma almost 2 hours of his valuable time to explain everything in depth, answer my questions and show me an insider look at how his whiskey is made. He ever let me taste the product along the production cycle to see how it evolves into the final whiskey. His productions themselves are all amazing. The All Purpose Shine was like nothing I have ever experienced before in my life. Nothing like the Everclear I imagined...it had very nice corn flavor to it and went down nice and smooth. The trademark Clayton James was my favorite spirit I discovered on this trip and was my proudest find. In the end he let me taste any of the items I wanted and was extremely generous with his time. Above all I just loved spending time talking shop with Clay and getting a real down to Earth look at the business of owning and operating a distillery. Felt more like spending time with a friend than taking a spiritless tour at a big distillery. Anyone even close to this area needs to stop in and take a tour and enjoy this company's fine craft! read more

We happen to stumble upon the best whiskey place with great flavor and taste of experience. You must stop by. Next time will bring the truck for a few barrels. Smelled wonderful and tastings were spectacular. Definitely search it out becauae it is not 5oo far off the beaten path. read more

The tour of this very small distillery was informative and thorough. The owners are very friendly. But the moonshine, whiskey and other spirits are not very good compared to other distilleries we have visited. Prices seemed high. We found much better moonshine in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge and much better whiskey at Jack Daniels. Hopefully their products will improve with time. read more

I like a little of everything - smoky, peaty, sweet - as long as its reasonably smooth and well balanced. Given this preference, I tend to know better than to go with cask strength whiskeys, but I tried their maple wood finished cask strength to be a good sport. And to my surprise it was just perfect - like the extra concentration (57.7% vs the standard 40%) added more flavor rather than more burn. I think it was about $100 a bottle so I grabbed one and decided to check a bag so I could bring it home - it was that good.

It was family-style, southern fare, and simply outstanding. We walked through town to the distillery and enjoyed a fun, fascinating, super informative tour of how Jack is made, stored, bottled, the whole thing. This tour is the one opportunity for visitors to see the inside of one of the barrel storage facilities. The day ended with a tasting session, where we explored some of the finer points of a selection of Jack Daniel's whiskeys and their individual qualities and personalities. Plus everyone received a gift bag with a framed version of the photo taken earlier in the day, some chocolates, and a bottle of Miss Mary Bobo's Hot Sauce (which I had earlier on fried Okra and it was tremendous!). It was nearly 4 p.m. by the time we were done. So I meant when I said "if you have some time." And it costs a little more. But worth every penny and every minute of time.
