    Matcha Baumkuchen

J.sweets is located in the Alderwood Mall and near Nordstrom. It's a small shop with tons of Japanese sweets. The workers was nice and friendly. Very polite. I got several items here. If you want a mochi, keep in mind it will be out from the freezer so best texture is to wait 30mins after you get it. Matcha Baumkuchen has a rich, buttery, and subtly sweet flavor with a hint of vanilla and matcha. Texture is a a bit dense yet tender, somewhere between a pound cake and a sponge cake. It's not dry so I like it. Pressed butter sandwich cookie, a rich butter cream made with fresh Hokkaido butter on top and mouth-watering butter caramel below. Would definitely come back to try other goodies!

J Sweets have resurfaced! Apparently, I have been living in a hole since Sept 2024 and did not know this. LOL. If you are familiar with the J Sweets that occupied a space in the Uwajimaya in Bellevue, this is the same business! Location: They are inside the Alderwood Mall (covered portion), along the same corridor that leads to Nordstrom. All sweets and treats sold in J Sweets are imported from Japan. Some items are spendier, because they are duration and temperature/humidity sensitive, which means they can't sit in a cargo ship crossing the ocean. This company is very good about inventory control, giving instructions as needed to ensure optimal experience, such as their collection of cream mochi's. Pay attention to best-by dates as the delicate items have short durations. The treats this visit: Petite Gaufres Au Gouter, $13 This version has green tea, coffee, and black sesame. I normally buy the all matcha version. This one is pretty good and a good change of piece with some variety. I still like the all matcha version better. Rice Cracker Agodashi Shoyu, $12 I love rice crackers - the bigger ones that are savory or umami and not covered with sugar. These are so good. Kinkan Difuku, $4.50 We fell in love with freshly made daifuku during trip to Japan. Soft and pillowy with commonly a fruit or azuki beans. This piece caught our attention because it has a kumquat inside! Fun and worth a try. Tokoyo, $6.90 Candied yuzu strips. They had me at yuzu. I love that mild citrus lemony but not overpowering yuzu flavor. Again, this is an excellent treat.

My 3 year old son and I came to J.sweets last week after visiting Nordstrom. I loved how the store was BRIGHT and everything looked so be so aesthetically pleasing. The lady at the front counter was helpful and informed us that they were opened before at Uwayamaya in Bellevue, Washington. What we got: I tried their matcha bean cake for $4.50 it was small but packed with flavors and nice soft texture - it wasn't like any other matcha cake I got; I could imagine coming back to get half a dozen for a tea party addition. We also got the cherry blossom cracker which my son really enjoyed. We also received a little goody bag with a honey salt potatoes frites type of chip was very unique and tasty and a small handful of crackers. This place brings back to TRAVEL VIBES! and want to book my next ticket to Tokyo.

The owners moved their store from Uwajimaya to Lynnwood Alderwood. Customer service is top notch and everything at the store is imported from Japan. So far, I've tried the matcha cream bun and Sakura mochi: both are delicious! I'm craving another one after finishing both. I still have a regular cream bun and several other snacks, and I look forward to trying them. What a stroll down memory lane from my snack adventures in Tokyo and Hokkaido in the past few months! It's a small shop though, but it's cute and a lot to see/browse. I love the packaging on some of their gift sets (esp. for Mother's Day); sucha great idea to bring home for the holidays.

Yesterday afternoon, we made the two-hour roundtrip journey from Redmond to visit this shop, navigating heavy traffic on I-405. If you're planning a visit, it's wise to time your trip to avoid peak congestion. This charming shop is located in Alderwood Mall near Nordstrom, offers a selection of products directly imported from Japan like soft mochis, creamy buns, pressed cookies, dried fruit, and specialty gifts. Their mochis are an absolute highlight! The store carries a variety of flavors, including caramel pudding, double mango, green tea, chocolate banana, café au lait, black sesame, blackberry yogurt, and peach yogurt, with prices ranging from $2.60 to $2.90 each. My personal favorites are the black sesame and café au lait mochis--perfectly balanced in sweetness, soft and creamy. Since they come frozen, a 30-minute thawing time is recommended.

This charming Japanese confectionery shop is a great place to find high-quality, specialty gifts. All of the products are imported directly from various regions of Japan, with flavors like matcha, cheese, cherry blossom, and more. You can also savor fresh mochi and cream buns. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and always ready to help. You'll find it conveniently located near the Nordstrom entrance at Alderwood Mall.

Stumbled in this shop for a gift. It was quiet and my son and I were the only customers. We were not greeted and it was kind of awkward as the associate was behind the counter in the back. All items are very pleasing to the eye. We got the muscat fish jelly and a few mochi ice creams. The ice creams were yummy. However not used to the whipped cream on the inside. The jelly was a surprise too. There was really no ice cream. We were given a special mochi treat after our purchase which was nice. The shop is small and one circle.

J Sweets is a store in Alderwood Mall in Lynnwood that carries a variety of Japanese sweets, from traditional wagashi to modern "French fries" snacks. Everything is so beautifully curated from a number of famous establishments from Japan. I purchased a few wagashi from K Minamoto which were both beautiful and delicious. It's currently spring which is Sakura season so they have some limited products at the moment. I highly recommend you visit and check out the store and find your new favorite snacks!

We stopped in the other day for some holiday sweets! We settled on the Usagi - a bunny shaped sweet with white bean (白あん)and a touch of yuzu (a lime-like citrus fruit. These are very popular in our house. The staff working there is always very friendly, kind, and helpful - providing excellent service. The store is very well lit and, despite its fairly small size, they have a large variety of treats. I've added some photos of their holiday displays. What a great way to make the holidays just a little more special!

This is a small wonderful boutique Japanese dessert deli hidden in the Alderwood Mall about a hundred feet from the mall entrance to Nordstroms. It's a little on the pricey side but given the high quality of the desserts, its probably worth it. Mochis seem to be their specialty. We tried the cafe au lait mochis and black sesame mochis and their texture and taste were perfection! Note that you have to thaw the mochis out for about half an hour before enjoying them. Will have to come over again to try some more.

Went on a Tuesday evening while foot traffic was slower throughout the mall. Entrance is in the Nordstrom corridor. Friendly knowledgeable staff, including Minami who shared that they had a previous location in Bellevue's Uwajimaya and moved to this location in September 2024. They have a variety of Japanese cookies, jellies, and mochi. Fyi that mochi is frozen and should be eaten after half an hour. Cookie varieties include press butter sand, Yoku Moku, and Kobe Fugetsudo wafer cookies. Their well wrapped boxes would make great gifts for any occasion.

Their mochi is amazing!!!!!!! Lovely curation inside the store and very friendly staff, the cream buns were sold out so i didnt get to try them but i strongly recommend their mochis.

Lovely Japanese wagashi (sweets) shop. I love the Sakura mochi that I purchased this spring. They're very special confections that are perfect for gifts. I love to have wagashi before a nice bowl of matcha. The staff were very friendly and I was able to get something on discount plus a promo item. I love Al the displays and the seasonal items.

I really enjoy the mochi here. Truly melt in your mouth, and some of the best I've had. I wasn't a big fan of the cream buns.

A person can go into diabetic shock just walking along these crammed aisles. (Just kidding, of course) Despite the busy visuals, I thought the store looks clean and neat, especially the many bulk bins. In case anyone doesn't already know, places like these tend to be very expensive. Their bulk candies are sold at $4.99 for a quarter pound, which is almost $20 a pound. The weight of sugar is quite high and adds up fast. It is much safer to buy packaged items with a known price tag instead of bulk. When I go into these stores, I keep my eyes out for unusual items. They have something called Squashies and is labeled with "Taylor Swift's best favorite candy". (Someone might need an English lesson.) At about 9 dollars a bag, I didn't go for it. Their labels of gummy sharks vs gummy killer sharks (very large ones) gave me a laugh. The gummy fast food of fries, burgers, and cola cups are very cute. Their dark chocolate espresso malt balls finally gave me pause to get a small amount. They taste pretty good. Would I send anyone here? Probably not.
