Dessert on a sunny spring day is a must but it is exponentially better when Salt & Straw is nearby. Food: (4/5) I am an absolute sucker for Salt & Straw's monthly flavors. This month, I took my cousin to try the cereal series and we both got the pots of gold and rainbow flavor which is their riff of lucky charms. The flavor was SO on point we were shocked. This may be one of my favorite monthly menu items yet! I also tried to freckled mint chocolate chip for the first time which honestly wasn't my favorite mint chocolate chip ice cream. It's vegan which I'm just finding out now (which is fine) but I also just learned that it's made of coconut cream. I typically dislike coconut so that was my mistake, but I'm glad I tried it. My cousin got the cinnamon snickerdoodle and said it was also very accurate and cinnamon forward. Are there some things here I wouldn't get again? Yes, but I will always be a Salt & Straw fan. Service: (5/5) The workers here are always so cheerful I sometimes feel bad for adding to the constant long lines. They're great at describing all the flavors and are extremely patient when it comes to giving people samples.

Salt & Straw will always be good and there are no exceptions. However, the service at this specific location was outstanding. I forgot the guys name but he said he's been working here for the last 5 years and it shows! He's so friendly and passionate about the ice cream and truly made our experience enjoyable. They also encourage trying all the flavors and you don't feel rushed at all. Delicious ice cream and fantastic people!

WOW i get why alyssa liu likes lucky charms because the pot of gold ice cream was actually so good!!! Combined with my tried and true favorite honey lavender it was THE BEST! The staff is always so friendly and I love that they allow you to try as many flavors as you like.

This location has a heated outdoor section which is really nice - salt and straw is a hit or miss on flavors for me, but when I came they were doing their vegan series and a BOGO scoop deal which I loved. Death by chocolate cake is one of my favorite flavors !

Salt and Straw will always one of my favorite ice cream shop chains with high quality ice cream and unique seasonal flavor rotations each month. Good for vegan flavors as well, so if you're lactose intolerant, you'll find good flavors that I sometimes even prefer to the regular dairy ones. This location is my personal favorite even though a newer one just opened closer to where I live, due to its prime location in the Totem Lake shopping neighborhood and the beautiful ambiance surrounding it, which is why I still make the drive here occasionally whenever I can. The people working there are always so nice, they will literally ask you if you want to sample every single seasonal flavor because they want to ensure you get the flavors you want and have a good experience. I'm usually a fan of trying the new seasonal flavors that rotate every month, I'm not always a fan of all of them, but I'd say I'm pretty open to trying new things and most of the seasonal flavors are a hit. Some particularly good months are usually the cereal milk flavors in March, the recent chocolate series currently in February, and the pie series in the summer. Keep reading for a detailed list of my personal favs. Favorite seasonal flavors are: 1. Cake Batter Chocolate Fudge (I'm not a birthday/funfetti cake person usually due to the high sweetness levels brands usually put, but I was amazed by how good Salt and Straw's is; easily became one of my top fav's that I will get again and again. 2. Huckleberry Cornbread Pudding - amazing! The berry flavor shines so well and the cornbread pairs amazing with it 3. Wild Foraged Berry Slab Pie - pie and berries, what better combo is there 3. Raspberry White Chocolate Cheesecake - not usually a raspberry type gal, but this was so good! 4. The whole cereal milk series!! Pots of Gold & Rainbows, Cornflake Cookies with Marionberry Jam 5. Chewy Molasses Cookie with Rum Caramel I could keep going on, but I think you get the gist, step out of your comfort zone and give seasonal flavors a try My favorite classic flavors: 1. Salted Malted Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough - I love a good salted ice cream, and the addition of malted fudge with cookie dough pieces makes it taste like a Whoppers malt ball, but in the best way. 2. Coffee and Love Nuts - Coffee ice cream + caramelized pecans, hello?!?! Sign me up 3. Cinnamon Snickerdoodle - warm and cinnamon-y with tons of cookie pieces 4. Honey Lavender - probably the best honey lavender ice cream I've had compared to other places where I've tried it, super fragrant and not heavy either. 5. Sea Salt with Caramel Ribbons

So excited that they have a salt and straw here! It's our favorite ice cream. So many crazy flavors like pickled cucumber and chocolate chip zucchini bread. The employees are so sweet and generous with samples and that's how they sell so much ice cream. Ian is a great ice cream server!! This location has been open since 2020 so come and try everything then go to the gym!

I'm always down to see what kind of rotating flavors Salt & Straw has for their limited stuff though I may not always enjoy them. For this visit on a Saturday night at almost 7:30pm, I only enjoyed one particular kind but it was really tasty! My friends and I did pass by here around 5pm when there was no line but at the time I went, so many people were eating outside the surrounding area and a lot others inside were sampling their limited flavors! I did too, and decided on getting the Jack O'lantern pumpkin bread ice cream on a waffle cone. Just having it on a waffle cone makes the ice cream more expensive but the two sweets from the ice cream and cone itself actually complement each other. I'm literally reminded of pumpkin bread when I bite into the ice cream, and it was like having a pumpkin spice latte that I wasn't planning on getting throughout this whole fall season; there's small hints of pumpkin spice but it's not that strong. There's no seating inside the area, which is essentially just the counter area where the ice cream is kept. You can ask to sample any flavors that you might like, which is big plus since they always have so many and they have limited flavors that always change. It was interesting to see that their creepy crawly critters flavor - which seems to be specific to the Halloween season like at the time of this writing - contains both mealworms and crickets yet is essentially a matcha-flavored ice cream...

One scoop of coconut cake & pineapple jam ice cream on a waffle cone

Salt & Straw is an ice cream chain with beginnings in Portland, OR. As much as I travel, it was my first time having their ice cream but better late than never. I love the variety of ice cream flavors at Salt & Straw! They have flavors I never imagined would exist. I give them props for having quite a selection of vegan flavors. As someone with lactose intolerance, I was happy to see dairy-free flavors. The staff was friendly. I tried five different flavors before making my selection. They were patient with me while I was making my decision. I ordered a scoop of coconut cake & pineapple jam ice cream on a waffle cone. I definitely tasted the coconut cake all throughout, and I thought the pineapple jam was more subtle. It was vegan and not too sweet which is what I prefer. I like that the ice cream is still creamy despite it being non-dairy.

Super nice there! I'd never tried Salt & Straw but the guy behind the counter was nice to explain the flavors I asked to sample. I ended up going with the vegan hazelnut cookies and cream, but I don't remember them mentioning that it was a coconut base. It was a really yummy ice cream, but it did have a pretty prominent coconut flavor. This location also is in a nice shopping center which had a cute fireplace right across the street. Would definitely go again.

After repeated recommendations from friends, my family decided to check out this cute ice cream shop after dinner at a restaurant nearby. Despite the line being nearly to the door, it moved quickly. The staff were friendly and efficient. Zedryx who helped my family was patient with my family as we tried all the flavours we were interested in. He even answered my questions about the flavours and ingredients. I ended up getting a kids scoop of Death by Chocolate Chocolate Cake in a sugar cone. I wish there were more chunks of cake in the ice cream. Overall it was creamy and the chocolate was rich. Also I know this sounds dumb, but it's so rare to get a high quality sugar cone. This one didn't leak everywhere and tasted fresh and crispy Both my parents got scoops of Coffee and Love Nuts. My mom said there was too much going on with the pralined nuts. I took a bite and I thought it was delicious, I loved the sweet flavour of the nut and I'm usually a nut hater. I definitely want to come back and try more of the flavours. One of the other customers recommended I try the salted caramel one so I want to get a scoop of that next time.

This is the 3rd Salt and Straw location I have visited but it's been awhile. Their quality of ice cream has always been up there. I do prefer Molly Moon better due to the thicker and fuller mouth feel. There was no line today and our server was extremely nice and helpful. My daughter got to try 2 flavors before making her choice (Chocolate Gooey Brownie) and I got my Coffee & Love Nuts flavor which is their Valentine's Day special. Both ice cream flavors were delicious. The venue was immaculate. There are no seatings inside but there are seats everywhere right outside the store. This is located in a beautiful outdoor mall. Parking can be a bit of a pain sometimes but the location is hard to beat. I can imagine myself coming here more often with my kids in the summer time.

If you're looking for a place with unique ice cream flavors, then come on into Salt and Straw. They change their flavors regularly and even have vegan flavors. It's definitely a unique ice cream store and their ice cream is wonderful. My favorites are Chocolate Gooey Brownie and Salted Malted, chocolate chip cookie dough. Also Honey Lavender, Peanut butter brittle caramel fudge (v), Strawberry Honey Balsamic with black pepper. All are rich n creamy. They also offer pints to go. The shop is always clean and the staff more than accommodating in allowing you to taste the flavors of your choice before deciding, which can sometimes be a difficult choice because so many flavors are worthy of filling a waffle cone. Don't worry if the line out the door seems intimidating. It moves very quickly and before you know it, you're at the counter, attempting to decide which flavor you want to select. They have outside covered seating and on colder days there are heaters. The free parking garage nearby makes it convenient to go in, park, and reach the shop without too much of a hassle. The perfect dessert after a Mother's Day celebration at an Italian restaurant, that's our favorite. Whenever I'm in the Seattle area,, I make sure to enjoy Salt and Straw.

Double Fold Vanilla Ice Cream, double scoop, chocolate sprinkles, & whipped cream

this place is SPECTACULAR ! a small shop in the middle of totem lake that's a perfect sweet treat for after dinner, or just when out shopping: yes, even if it's cold ! there's little heaters to sit at or lampposts ti stand under while you enjoy your sweet treat nearby ! this place is known for their seasonal flavors that change every month - which means, if you see something interesting, i recommend trying it before it goes ! made that mistake a few times, sad i drug my feet this long to try here ! they're also very well known for experimenting with interesting flavors that you wouldn't think would go well or be heard of in ice cream: for example, a seasonal flavor they have i for thanksgiving time is cranberry sauce & turkey stuffing ! or a flavor they have around all the time is arbequina olive oil - just mind boggles me ! now, if you're raising an eyebrow at any of these, they do let you taste test anything, & as many as you want before making your decision. i taste testing their snickerdoodle cookie, & as the nice guy who helped me out stated, it tasted like a snickerdoodle cinnamon toast crunch cookie - it oddly made me feel warm & cozy for ice cream ! in the end i wound up getting the double fold vanilla, because it's a pretty safe flavor, & wow ! it exceeds the basic generic vanilla flavor. as well, the added whipped cream tasted amazingly fresh as the ice cream :) they have plenty of fresh flavors to choose from to put in cups, waffle / cake cones, as well as pints if you want to bring some home. they also have added customs such as sprinkles, whipped cream, & others if you want to add a little variety to the ice cream, & if you want to treat your animal, they serve pup cups for there or to go. it may be a small shop, so when it's busy it's usually cramped, but the employees work very quickly so the lines go fairly fast, & are very nice & kind when you ask to test flavors or have any questions. highly reccomend it here ! i'm excited to see the next few line up of seasonal flavors here

How does the new vegan caramel cupcake compare to the non vegan version? I love and miss the original, and I'm trying to decide whether to include the vegan one in my order. How are they similar/different?

When we got there at 11:40am, we checked in and the staffer said it would be approximately an hour to hour and a half wait on top of our already 25 minute wait. Whoa! We didn't know these were typical weekend waiting times. My MIL was willing to wait so we took off and came back in an hour. At that time, they were able to seat our party of three at a table outside. So, it took us about 90 minutes total to get seated. Note to future diners to get on the waitlist early if you're coming for weekend brunch!!! You use a QR code to order from an online menu. Liked how detailed the menu was and how we could remove or add ingredients. With my dairy and eggs intolerance, this comes in handy. My MIL ordered Eggs Benedict, I got the smoked turkey sandwich on focaccia, and my hubs got the chicken sandwich on focaccia. Our sandwiches were packed with lots of deliciousness, but my MIL's English muffin was toasted so hard she couldn't even cut through it with a steak knife. So she sent it back and she also asked for her poached eggs to be cooked harder. The staff member was apologetic and said no problem. It took a while to cook it, but when she got her remade Eggs Benedict, she really liked it. We split a slice of apple bread which was delicious. So happy it was dairy free! My hubs also enjoyed his London Fog. My MIL got a huge slice of coconut cake to go and loved eating it later, telling us it was very moist and coconutty. It was a bright day with nice weather and was a perfect time to try out DERU Market. Even though it was very busy, all of the staff were friendly and attentive. They worked like a well-oiled machine. We definitely want to come back and try more of their dishes, pizza, and desserts.

Apparently rather than being prescheduled most of the time, they are held on demand. We asked for an Oolong tasting session and was able to get one penciled in a couple of weeks later. The store itself is appropriately decorated for a modern and trendy tea shop. There's a bit of an overpowering perfume that lingers throughout the store. It's not the best setting for a tea tasting, especially when trying to differentiate tasting notes when the olfactory glands are already completely saturated with perfume. LizzyKate has a decent selection of true tea, nothing super unique or rare, but I think they lean towards the more accessible blends and tisanes in the first place. Oolong Tasting Class ($35/per person) - Tasting sessions are held in the bar area, brewed mostly using gaiwan with carefully measured water temperature and volume. The class provides some educational material including laminated papers describing the tea production process, growing regions, anatomy, etc. More importantly, unlike some other tasting sessions I've attended, they actually provide pencil and paper, along with brewing instructions, to write down cupping and tasting notes. It certainly beats taking notes on my phone as I usually do. For this course, we tasted a white tea and four different oolongs. My personal tasting notes as follows (for future reference for myself): Bai Mu Dan - Mild, mellow, sweet and slightly astringent flavor with notes of honey and hay. Light golden liquid that's very easy to drink. Tie Guan Yin - Caramelized sweetness, vegetal leafy with a tiny earthy element. Darker golden color with more astringency and round lingering taste. The leaves smell smoky and roasted. Baihao - The smell is distinctively roasty and earthy, approaching the fermented smell of puerh. It has a brownish color and tastes smoky and earthy like peat. Formosa Oolong - It tastes of malt and molasses, with a certain oxidized toastiness. The color is more dark brown although it's not very astringent given the color. Osmanthus Oolong - This smells more malty and surprisingly not that flowery in aroma. The mouthfeel is extremely creamy and silky, almost like milk with the balanced taste of barley and hops with only a slight osmanthus flowery taste in the background. I think the base used is Jin Xuan given the milkiness. With the tasting also comes some treats including mini muffins and some tea infused bars from a chocolatier in Singapore, Fossa Chocolate. I think LizzyKate is more geared towards people who don't have much experience with tea and want a place that's extremely welcoming and modern. They have lattes and plenty of herbal and fruity infusions to help beginners ease into the complexities of tea, While this shop isn't for me, more tea shops are always welcome in the area. I'd definitely recommend it to my friends who want to dip their toes into the world of tea. Bathrooms - Single unisex room.

We also learned about the tea flavor wheel and identified tea tasting notes in the sampled teas. I do wish there was more of a compare and contrast between the teas - it would have been cool to try the same teas but early vs late season, or tea processed similarly but from different regions. We could not adjust the toppings on the kiosk. The staff did help me adjust it manually to give me pudding instead of lychee jelly. That was nice. However, the royal milk tea we ordered came out with boba. I obviously didn't notice until after we took our photos, left the shop, and took a few sips, so we went back in to let the staff know. First, she said she would re-use the drink and sift out the boba to replace it with pudding. I declined that offer and requested they make a new one. Then, another staff member joked saying she would drink my already drunk from, old boba. Then, they threw it into the trash. Talk about waste :( finally, they remade it but gaslit me telling me that I had actually ordered boba, and they didn't believe me that I had actually put in pudding. Given that I had ordered from the kiosk, I told them they can just look it up and see I wasn't lying, but she rudely said "well I already made it." They didn't even put a sticker/label on my remade drink. The worst part is, the peach oolong was really bad and the boba was especially bad. Overcooked and bland. I wouldn't come here again for the tea or the service. The shop itself is clean and decorated with cars and anime. There is car-themed seating and a large, free parking lot.

Everything looked beautiful and tasted just as good as it looked. I tried the toffee, salted caramel, honey lavender, oatmeal snickerdoodle, and strawberry rhubarb macarons. The honey lavender was light and floral without being overpowering, and the strawberry rhubarb had the perfect balance of sweet and tart. The salted caramel and toffee flavors were rich and indulgent, and the oatmeal snickerdoodle tasted warm and cozy with a cinnamon sugar flavor that stood out from the others. The macarons were fresh, flavorful, and perfectly textured. Definitely one of the best macaron spots locally!

One of my absolute favorites is Ding Dong (a chocolate-forward flavor that's rich and nostalgic, like an elevated version of a childhood treat). I also love the chocolate mint for something refreshing, and the oatmeal flavor has this cozy, comforting vibe that pairs perfectly with tea or coffee. They consistently nail the texture: lightly crisp on the outside with a soft, chewy center. I also really appreciate that there's indoor seating. The last time I went, my parents were visiting, and we sat inside sipping tea and chatting. It felt warm, cozy, and just really sweet. It's not just a grab-and-go dessert spot, it's somewhere you can linger. And every time I've gone, the women working there have been genuinely friendly and welcoming. That consistency makes such a difference. Such a cute little gem in Totem Lake. Perfect for gifting or a small afternoon treat!
