Every time I'm on the West Coast, I have to stop by Salt & Straw at least once for ice cream. The staff at this location was fantastic and happily let us sample all five of the current monthly flavors before we decided. The seasonal lineup included: * Wild-Foraged Berry Slab Pie * Wildflower Honey and Lemon Chess Pie * Peaches and Cream Galette * Gruyère and Tomato Custard Tart * Coconut Cherry Pie and Almond Crust (v) SINGLE SCOOP I ended up choosing the Wild-Foraged Berry Slab Pie. I couldn't pass up the sweet, refreshing berries with chunks of of pie crust folded into salted vanilla ice cream. It was bright, fruity, and not too sweet. A couple people in our group preferred the Peaches and Cream Galette, which was sweet, juicy, and tasted like a fresh summer flavor. I also expected the Gruyère and Tomato Custard Tart to be much funkier and savory, but it was surprisingly subtle. It ended up being one of the more interesting flavors I sampled. Salt & Straw continues to be one of my favorite ice cream chains. I love how creative they are with their flavors. Too bad they're only on the West Coast! read more

SALT & STRAW @ KIRKLAND TOTEM LAKE Parking is available in their parking lot, but it can get pretty crowded. There is also street parking available, but since this Salt & Straw is located in a smaller plaza in Totem Lake, finding a spot can sometimes be a little difficult. I would honestly recommend parking near Trader Joe's or Ross. It may be a bit of a walk, but you'll have a much easier time finding parking. I was really excited to try the Salt & Straw in Kirkland since the locations I was familiar with were in Bellevue and Redmond. I'm super happy that Salt & Straw is expanding because this location is great. The space is much bigger, and I really like how easy the flow is when ordering. The staff were super friendly and quick, and I also love that they have outdoor seating with heaters. Trust me, a lot of people still come here even when it's cold outside, so I really appreciate that they have heaters available. The area itself is perfect for grabbing ice cream on a warm day. There's a kids' play area, lots of stores, a movie theater, and plenty of things to do around the plaza, making it a great place to spend time before or after getting dessert. Salt & Straw is always one of my favorites. My go-to flavor is the Strawberry Coconut Sherbet because it's light, refreshing, and has the perfect flavor. They also have so many unique flavors, including rotating seasonal options, so there's always something new to try. The staff are always nice and do a great job of answering any questions. I've become a huge fan of the limited series menu. The one current as of June 11,2026 is the Chef Series and oh wow. Every single flavor is a home run. Salt and straw constantly delivers of quality and taste. The ice cream consistency always creamy and smooth. The vegan flavors always just as tasty and most wouldn't even know the difference. Even though Salt & Straw continues to grow, they are a small company who stays company owned and operated. Dessert on a sunny spring day is a must but it is exponentially better when Salt & Straw is nearby. Food: (4/5) I am an absolute sucker for Salt & Straw's monthly flavors. This month, I took my cousin to try the cereal series and we both got the pots of gold and rainbow flavor which is their riff of lucky charms. The flavor was SO on point we were shocked. This may be one of my favorite monthly menu items yet! I also tried to freckled mint chocolate chip for the first time which honestly wasn't my favorite mint chocolate chip ice cream. It's vegan which I'm just finding out now (which is fine) but I also just learned that it's made of coconut cream. I typically dislike coconut so that was my mistake, but I'm glad I tried it. I'm always down to see what kind of rotating flavors Salt & Straw has for their limited stuff though I may not always enjoy them. For this visit on a Saturday night at almost 7:30pm, I only enjoyed one particular kind but it was really tasty! My friends and I did pass by here around 5pm when there was no line but at the time I went, so many people were eating outside the surrounding area and a lot others inside were sampling their limited flavors! I did too, and decided on getting the Jack O'lantern pumpkin bread ice cream on a waffle cone. Just having it on a waffle cone makes the ice cream more expensive but the two sweets from the ice cream and cone itself actually complement each other. I'm literally reminded of pumpkin bread when I bite into the ice cream, and it was like having a pumpkin spice latte that I wasn't planning on getting throughout this whole fall season; there's small hints of pumpkin spice but it's not that strong. There's no seating inside the area, which is essentially just the counter area where the ice cream is kept. You can ask to sample any flavors that you might like, which is big plus since they always have so many and they have limited flavors that always change. Salt and Straw will always one of my favorite ice cream shop chains with high quality ice cream and unique seasonal flavor rotations each month. Good for vegan flavors as well, so if you're lactose intolerant, you'll find good flavors that I sometimes even prefer to the regular dairy ones. This location is my personal favorite even though a newer one just opened closer to where I live, due to its prime location in the Totem Lake shopping neighborhood and the beautiful ambiance surrounding it, which is why I still make the drive here occasionally whenever I can. The people working there are always so nice, they will literally ask you if you want to sample every single seasonal flavor because they want to ensure you get the flavors you want and have a good experience. I'm usually a fan of trying the new seasonal flavors that rotate every month, I'm not always a fan of all of them, but I'd say I'm pretty open to trying new things and most of the seasonal flavors are a hit. Some particularly good months are usually the cereal milk flavors in March, the recent chocolate series currently in February, and the pie series in the summer. You can get as many samples as you want and the flavors are unique. There are always so many great options to choose from that it makes it hard to decide. I usually like the fruity flavors, but there have been some other great non fruity flavors I have liked too. I like their waffle cones and that they have a little area to sit outside. The staff were friendly and efficient. Zedryx who helped my family was patient with my family as we tried all the flavours we were interested in. He even answered my questions about the flavours and ingredients. I ended up getting a kids scoop of Death by Chocolate Chocolate Cake in a sugar cone. I wish there were more chunks of cake in the ice cream. Overall it was creamy and the chocolate was rich. Also I know this sounds dumb, but it's so rare to get a high quality sugar cone. This one didn't leak everywhere and tasted fresh and crispy Both my parents got scoops of Coffee and Love Nuts. My mom said there was too much going on with the pralined nuts. I took a bite and I thought it was delicious, I loved the sweet flavour of the nut and I'm usually a nut hater. I definitely want to come back and try more of the flavours. I do prefer Molly Moon better due to the thicker and fuller mouth feel. There was no line today and our server was extremely nice and helpful. My daughter got to try 2 flavors before making her choice (Chocolate Gooey Brownie) and I got my Coffee & Love Nuts flavor which is their Valentine's Day special. Both ice cream flavors were delicious. The venue was immaculate. There are no seatings inside but there are seats everywhere right outside the store. This is located in a beautiful outdoor mall. It's definitely a unique ice cream store and their ice cream is wonderful. My favorites are Chocolate Gooey Brownie and Salted Malted, chocolate chip cookie dough. Also Honey Lavender, Peanut butter brittle caramel fudge (v), Strawberry Honey Balsamic with black pepper. All are rich n creamy. They also offer pints to go. The shop is always clean and the staff more than accommodating in allowing you to taste the flavors of your choice before deciding, which can sometimes be a difficult choice because so many flavors are worthy of filling a waffle cone. Don't worry if the line out the door seems intimidating. It moves very quickly and before you know it, you're at the counter, attempting to decide which flavor you want to select. They have outside covered seating and on colder days there are heaters. The free parking garage nearby makes it convenient to go in, park, and reach the shop without too much of a hassle. The perfect dessert after a Mother's Day celebration at an Italian restaurant, that's our favorite. Whenever I'm in the Seattle area,, I make sure to enjoy Salt and Straw. read more

What I got: -pear and blue cheese: creamy and has pear chunks in it -wild-foraged berry slab pie: creamy and the berry was sweet and has a tiny bit tangy -salted malted chocolate chip cookie dough: again creamy and had good chunk of cookie dough. Some part are quite sweet but the salted part breaks it. I really liked this one. Service: The service was fast and they are nice. First time I came here was on a Tuesday around 8pm and the lane was wrapping to the side walk. The other time I came it was just to the door. I think the line has to do a lot with the movie theater time. When a showtime ends, the line gets longer. read more

I usually find that the flavors are either too sweet or just not that good. I was pretty pleasantly surprised this visit though. This location is in the middle of the totem lake village and has a little outdoor area to enjoy your scoops. The line was long but it moved pretty quickly. I got a split scoop of mom's mango pie and chocolate gooey brownie. It was surprisingly a good combo, but also pretty good separately. The mango scoop was light and had little bits of pie crust which made it interesting and a little buttery. The chocolate brownie was a pretty classic chocolate flavor, with large chunks of brownie. Everytime it's delicious with a little reminder of Disneyland. They have some interesting flavors if one wants to try new, wouldn't-think-of-that ice cream flavors. Just be prepared for a line. Even at 10:30pm they're pumping out cones like crazy. read more
