AMAZING! I brought in two items (a towel and a blanket) to be embroidered with names, perfect personalized gifts, I paid 5.00 for each item and then an additional 1.00 for every letter. You can pick the size of the lettering as well as the font (styles on the wall) and then specify where you want it. Needed a couple of aprons embroidered same day and after calling a bunch of places, some that wanted to charge me over $20 each for - 4 letter name, I found this saving grace of a place. They were friendly and quick, just a few hours. It cost me about $16 total. The parking can be challenging to get to and the spaces are tight if you have a big vehicle. For pick up you can park downstairs out front and run up quickly, which I did. I will make sure to recommend all my partners to this shop! Mahalo! read more

Although this review is late, I needed to write it. I had a Christmas gift (lab coat) that I wanted to personalize. Clueless about the embroidery industry, I opened up my handy dandy YELP App and found several locations. Although their hours were short because of COVID, (they open at noon), I was told to come and he'd open the door for me. Although he was swamped with work, he was very patient with all my questions and showed me the fonts and colors to choose from. I wanted it "perfect" and with the lab coat being white, u can see everything, flaws and all. To my surprise, the lab coat was ready the following day and it looked perfect. Close inspection-perfect! Been searching around and found this amazing place quick response/ turnover and also great price, other place said it would take a few days or a week to get two lines done but JR's cap and embroidery will try their best to be done that day or the next day depending on request, highly recommend this place for embroidery. Upon requesting my dash cover to be embroidery they did mention that they are behind two hours but they will try to complete it that day if not the very next day which I was completely fine with. They called me back in a couple hours informing they completed my embroidery request. I was amazed even though I already was okay with next day service. I was in a rush to customize some gifts for a birthday and baby shower for my niece and best friend. I was calling places to see who can have my items ready same day and the most reasonable prices for this. I found my place! I was so happy with the results and it was ready super quick. I'm gonna come back for football season and customize lots of shirts! I believe if you bring your own piece of clothing it's a 5$ charge and the letters were maybe 1.50 each or cheaper can't remember I came last month. But I will be returning for sure! read more

Everything from t-shirts to hats to aprons to bags! They embroider practically anything that can fit under a sewing machine. JR has moved to a new location on Ward across the street from Sports Authority. I LOVE this location because to be honest, I really didn't care for their old locale at the bottom of the now demolished Sears Ala Moana. Their new space is bright and clean and now you don't have to deal with the craziness of the mall. I popped in to get a few red aprons embroidered for the Yelp cookie swap and they turned out great! Do your best to plan ahead because depending on how busy they are it could take a few hours or a day. Service was great this time around and the owner let me know that there are two parking stalls reserved just for JR customers. #Winning read more

I love the customer service and the quality of work. We discovered this place while shopping at Sears and stopping at OTW. Now that Sears is no longer they have relocated to a great location on Ward across from Sports Authority. I brought in a stuffed animal to see if they could give it some personalization...no go, has to be a flat surface. I bought some grosgrain ribbon(at Walmart) and they were able to embroider it on the spot!! I was shocked that it could be done right away. They say first come, first served. I am so used to leaving it for a day or two or up to a week... Lets give them so much service that they will be glad that they moved to the new location. If you bring something from outside in it has to be clean, preferably new and they charge a small outside fee, then the rest of the pricing is per letter. They have great fonts and great colors. Willing to do a quick turnaround even though I didn't specifically ask for it (and they didn't charge me their "rush" fee that's posted on their wall! Thanks JR's!) I got some vests embroidered for Magnetic Moments uniforms. Took the vests and design in to pay for the setup on Thursday. Got a call Friday that the proof was ready for my check. She edited the design a little (cross that 't" a little more! lol), and I picked the best hot pink color. She went to far as to warn me that the thread might look loopy, and said they'd just do one then call me for my approval to continue. What great service and nice girls working! They said they could finish the uniforms in time for my job Saturday morning! Friday afternoon I get a call from JR himself, "I AM SO SORRY! WHERE CAN I GET ONE OF THESE VESTS?" Suffice to say, I was a little confused. Through his extremely apologetic tone, I managed to figure out that one of my vests had been cut up and he wanted to buy a replacement and still have my job done that afternoon. He ended up running all around town, buying 2 options for me to try on, and still getting the job done on time. And he was so apologetic and so were all the girls in the store I felt bad for them! It was really no big deal. This is a business owner who knows how to create happy customers! And the embroidery looks great! Even better than the sample they showed me! $50 to set up and $8/piece for the embroidery and now all the Magnetic Moments employees are looking pro in their uniforms :) JR has earned me as a very happy customer and I recommend his convenient shop to everyone who needs embroidery and screen printing! 2 Reserved Parking stalls near the end of the lot for JRs. read more

If you bring in your own item it can be pricey beware of a $5 surcharge for each item. I brought in 5 baby burp rags valued at about $7.50 and they charged me $25 in addition to embroidery. For a simple name embroidery, I ended up spending close to $60. Additionally, the burp rags are not an item they sell or carry. Will not return as I believe there is a place in Wahiawa without that ridiculous surcharge. read more

AMAZING & QUICK SERVICE!! I went to Williams-Sonoma to get my dad an apron and a knife roller for father's day since he's a chef and he's ALWAYS in the kitchen. He's been a chef for 35 years, and let me tell you, he LOVES his job. So what better thing to get him right?!(: Anyway, I thought yesterday I wanted to get him just an apron and have it embroidered here at JR's because I seen all the awesome reviews! I was so excited to come here! So after I bought the knife roller and apron at WS, it was 945. I called JR's but they were still closed! So I walked down to pay less to meet my sister and we went to Ward! I got there at 10:15 and the girl at the desk was so sweet, she let me know the best placing of the letters. Btw, every FIFTH letter is free! On my dad's apron, I got "Worlds best chef, Daddy Cisco" and on the pocket, I got "Fathers Day, 2014" on the knife roller, I got "I Love You Dad, 2014" in 45 minutes they called and it was ready! I went in and I got emotional because I knew my dad would love it! We drove home and he's in the yard! I come out the car and give him his gift, he opens the knife roller first Nd he started crying (: then I started crying! If you work at Castle Medical Center and need your scrubs embroidered this is the place to go. The service was awesome, I brought in 2 scrub tops, and only paid $18 and some change to have them embroidered and they were done in less than an hour! That's WAY better than Uniforms Hawaii where they charged $15 per shirt and took more than a week! Usually I go to the embroidery by the ice palace and I usually have to wait a couple days to get it back! She charged only 15 bucks when it was 20 (A dollar for every letter). Our nonprofit has used JRs a few times for our logo embroidery service. Due to their proximity to Kapolei and their website post of "Due to the increase of COVID-19 cases, we will only be servicing essential workers until further notice", I wanted to get our embroidery done at another company. I understand and can completely appreciate the desire to serve only essential workers during this time, I don't understand why they wouldn't release the DST file to me. As we paid for the set up. I find their decision not to release a DST file to a nonprofit that paid for the service so that we could get our embroidery done elsewhere while they are not serving others really disappointing. While their work is good, we won't be using them anymore. read more

Totally new to this this Yelp thing.... I figured I'd create an account because of the experience I had at JR's Caps. Came in on Monday (yesterday) to get a price quote on my company's design. I was told that there is a one time set up fee to turn my design into a embroidery file. I paid $60 for my set up. I was also told that the set up takes about 2 business days. Today, (Tuesday) at around 12pm they called me letting me know that my set up was complete and that all I have to do is approve it and bring in my shirts! I brought in my shirts 3 shirts at around 2:30 pm, and I picked them up by 4 :) I'm so happy with the quick turn around and friendly service. I'm coming back next week with more items! read more

There are many different fonts to choose from so be prepared to make hard decisions . They do charge I think $5 to bring in your own items but the service, speed and quality were great. Amazing customer service at better than affordable rates! At 3pm on a Saturday afternoon I brought the team at J.R.'s a challenge. Embroider my brother's name on the back of a Timber Ridge camping chair. The concern was that the 1-piece cloth backing and seat was affixed to the chair. Still they were willing to try and happily pulled out a screwdriver to loosen the top off the chair frame, though the seat remained sewn to the frame. They then set the embroidery hoop, helped me design the name and fit it in the machine, which required some maneuvering and constant monitoring of the frame so it would stay in the machine. Not only did I expect to wait a week, but I also thought I'd have to pay an arm and a leg. But within minutes my brother's name proudly appeared in bright white stitches and all for under $20!! The staff were helpful, speedy and friendly. Definitely my "go to" place for all embroidery needs!! read more

I dont know if there are much shops in town that do custom embroidery and printing other then the big ones that do runs of 1000 or more. So JRs is a nice little shop to get your single or multiple prints/embroiderys done. I have come to this shop 3 times over the past few years and they are pretty reliable and professional. at one point I thought the man worker was kinda intimidating but that is just men for you, i really felt comfortable when all my communication was with the femail worker. lol. anyways I never thought to come here for presents or gift ideas but I think i will now after reading some reviews of other customers doing this. cheers! read more

My childhood friend worked at J.R's during high school. We used to visit her in the basement of Sears while we cruised the mall as fourteen year olds-about 20 years ago. The last time I used J.R's was senior year when we made 'Pink Ladies' outfits for our Halloween dance. So J.R's is the only embroidery place in Honolulu, as far as I am concerned. Fast forward two decades-I needed a personalized gift and boy was I relieved to know they have a much more inviting and spacious location on Ward. I walked in with my item already in tow but still asked to see their towel selection-which was very sparse. Luckily, I was prepared. Please note, they charge $5 for outside items. The girl helped me choose a font and color that went with the color scheme I was aiming for. She had me write down what I wanted the machine to produce and she created a mock up on the computer prior to beginning the process. Very important-I don't always like surprises. She told me it would take half an hour and she would call me when it was done. When I arrived back in the store she was ready with my item.
