We had a great first meal here. Nice selection of sushi and kitchen items on the menu that came out…read morefresh and fairly quickly. We found the quality to be good, especially for the value of the meal. Loved that it wasn't overloaded with rice, too. Surprised to find out that they've been around for some time yet we haven't tried it until now. Can't wait to make it our go-to AYCE spot!

I placed an online order at 6:22 PM and arrived at the restaurant around 6:40 PM. The restaurant…read morewas extremely busy, with a long line for dine-in customers. I asked if my takeout order was ready and was told it would be "a few more minutes." After waiting approximately 15 minutes, I checked again and was given the same response. During that time, numerous dine-in customers continued to be seated, and several other customers were also waiting for takeout orders. About 10 minutes later, I asked for another update. The employee attempted to explain the timing on my receipt, but I pointed out that the estimated pickup time had already passed and that I was simply looking for an accurate status update. She went to the kitchen to check and returned with the receipt again, at which point it became clear that my order had not even been started. After waiting nearly an hour from the time I placed my order, I asked for it to be canceled and left. Unfortunately, this is not the first time this has happened when I've ordered takeout from this restaurant. I completely understand that restaurants get busy, especially during peak dinner hours, but if the kitchen cannot keep up with both dine-in and online orders, it would be much better to temporarily disable online ordering until the backlog is under control. Other nearby restaurants, such as Okinami, do exactly that to avoid long waits and frustrated customers. The food has always been decent, but it is simply not worth waiting almost an hour for a takeout order--especially when the order hadn't even been started and I was repeatedly told it would only be "a few more minutes." I would much rather be given an honest estimate upfront than continue waiting without any meaningful update. Better communication and better management of online orders would go a long way toward improving the customer experience.

A DOMODOMO in Closter?!?…read more Okay, not exactly. But this is definitely a spinoff of DOMODOMO, my favorite Japanese restaurant in Jersey City. Maybe this place can be thought of as a mini DOMODOMO specializing in katsu (fried pork). The food is definitely DOMODOMO quality. Loved the pork katsu - it's fried nice and crispy and packed with flavor in each bite. Chicken katsu was also fried well and delicious. I also enjoyed the niku udon as a nice comforting noodle bowl. And sushi was also delicious and you could taste the freshness of the fish. They have a weekday lunch special but lunch portions were a bit small. Ambiance felt a little more upscale than a standard Japanese place, but not pretentious. Service was very good - waiters were very attentive. We'll be back. We haven't had to make reservations, but that might change as more people discover this place...

I didn't try any rolls but we did try: 1. Corn corn 2. KFC (Korean fried chicken) 3. Croffle & chicken 4. Strawberry shaved iced Really wanted to get the chicken katsu but that didn't work out. Gives me a reason to come back, I guess. The chicken dishes were labeled as spicy but they weren't spicy at all. In fact I found them more sweet than anything else. ALL of the sauces were sweet and I felt like they needed a little more balance, they all leaned too much on sweet. But chicken was crispy and satisfying. The Croffle and chicken dish had apples and walnuts but they were barely present and didn't add anything to the dish. The dish desperately needed a salty element to balance it. The service here was very slow. It took a long time for someone to take our order. We were barely checked on. Server was nice once she actually came but it was hard to get anyone's attention to order or ask questions. Food was good though! Ambiance was casual but elevated. Would try other dishes if I return!
