We sat on the counter and ordered the "omakase" (in Japanese it means, "as you please" or translated it means, chef's choice). I've had the pleasure of dining a few times and each time, it's a true delight as it is a cornucopia of culinary wonder. With fish and seafood flown directly from Japan, only the freshest and finest are prepared and served. As a result, in an omakase menu, there is no set menu as the chef prepares what's available. Each dish is meticulously prepared and watching the master chefs at work is worth the price of dining. While the master prepares the more intricate dishes, two apprentices (minimum 3-5 yrs in the industry) prepare the menu orders. It's a beautiful symphony of slicing the fish, forming the rice, putting the fish on top, and the gentle squeeze and presto...unless additional flavoring is required. Pairing the tasty seafood, is a selection of beer (Japanese of course), and an extensive selection of sake - served cold or warm (recommend cold). I completely understand that restaurants get busy, especially during peak dinner hours, but if the kitchen cannot keep up with both dine-in and online orders, it would be much better to temporarily disable online ordering until the backlog is under control. Other nearby restaurants, such as Okinami, do exactly that to avoid long waits and frustrated customers. The food has always been decent, but it is simply not worth waiting almost an hour for a takeout order--especially when the order hadn't even been started and I was repeatedly told it would only be "a few more minutes." I would much rather be given an honest estimate upfront than continue waiting without any meaningful update. Better communication and better management of online orders would go a long way toward improving the customer experience.
