My family enjoys Yoma Yama, I hadn't given it a serious try until tonight. Glad I decided to go for it! We did take out, so I can't comment too much on the ambiance. I can say that the service was prompt, the food was ready when expected and we received everything we ordered. Most importantly, the food is ridiculously good. My daughters shared the California roll, noodles, fried rice, crispy crab, and steamed gyoza. My wife got a Dragon Roll and a Philadelphia Roll. I went with a cup of miso soup, the Vietnamese spring roll appetizer, Yoma Yama Roll, and the Out of Control Roll. Everyone was happy with their order. I went back and forth about adding the Vietnamese spring roll appetizer vs just getting another roll. I'm glad I went with the Vietnamese spring roll. It ended up basically being another roll but in a very creative way. Quality fish wrapped in rice paper with mango, jalapeño and dipped in Wasabi sauce, an absolute flavor bomb! I loved the namesake Yoma Yama roll but my favorite of the two rolls may have been the Out of Control Roll, high quality tuna and salmon surrounded crab. Great quality! Dining here began with a gratis appetizer which was very welcome as my party was very hungry and hadn't yet got it together to order our meal in entirety. It was a cold night and the green tea really hit the spot. We were feeling festive and opted for a sushi boat and a special roll starter. My in-laws like this spot and order in from here often. People stopped in through out to pick up take out orders and all were greeted warmly with conversations about kids in college and who is getting married. I probably would've given this a three for what I had for lunch but my friends rolls looked better. I tried their Chirashi Lunch special. It was nice that it was so cheap but it really just looked like your basic sashimi dish. There was some sort of pickled item on it, but most of the chirashi I have eaten have resembled more of a poke bowl. My friends got a special roll called the oh my god roll and it did look very good. We ordered takeout and the restaurant itself is clean and servers friendly from my pick up experience. But the sushi was not the best quality unfortunately Disappointed as we so wanted a good place for sushi closer to home. We ordered the sushi/sashimi special for 2 with 2 rolls. The sushi rice was plain white rice, not the Japanese vinegar rice and pieces were extremely small. Some of the pieces the quality and freshness were questionable. The specialty rolls were good and I think that is where they excel. The regular rolls like spicy tuna had an artificial taste like artificial tuna. The miso soup is very bland. Crispy rice appetizer is in a panko breading. If you want specialty rolls this is your place, but I wouldn't get sushi or sashimi here. read more

I would say everything we had was pretty average. Not great but not terrible. I will say that the specialty rolls were very inexpensive, and the sushi in general was inexpensive. My friend ordered from here the night before and said it was really good and they even sent them a few free stuff. Maybe since I ordered on a Saturday evening they weren't going above and beyond. There were a lot of people dinning in so it does seem like a well frequented spot. Specifics on the dishes, the Crab Rangoon already had a sauced poured over. I rather do the dipping. The rock shrimp was the most disappointing, poorly fried and flavorless. The Udon noodles were pretty good, it had a distinct flavor, wish it had more of the sauce. The sushi was decent. I was not blown away. The one thing I did really like is the sauce they provided with one of the specialty rolls. It was a combo of sweet chili and spicy mayo, very good! I've never seen that before. One thing I didn't like was that they only gave us one cup of plain spicy mayo, when we were four people and order 5 rolls of sushi. When I asked for extra they said it's an additional charge. I honestly can't stand when restaurants charge extra for sauce. We ordered enough food to warrant two cups of spicy mayo lol. Overall, I'd recommend at least trying this place once or twice. read more

When you pull into the plaza, go towards Applebee's. It's near it. Stopped in for dinner on a Saturday night around 7:30pm and was immediately seated at a table. There is a sushi bar at the front of the restaurant where you can sit to watch the sushi chefs play with their food. The restaurant is more long than wide, bathroom is all the way in the back. Decor is modern. We ordered the the sashimi deluxe and a salmon roll and spicy tuna roll. After dinner we ordered the fried ice cream. My miso soup and salad came out first before my sashimi. Both were pretty standard. We ordered gyoza, not bad, but not incredible. Complimentary fried crab salad came with our appetizer, which was pretty good. Crunchy, savory, and sweet The rolls and sashimi arrived next. The presentation on the sashimi plate was very well done, it hangs with the big 5 star sushi places I've been in. Also, it was surprisingly incredibly fresh. The two rolls were pretty standard. We were full and still took a glance at the dessert menu, we committed to the green tea fried ice cream. Typically I see round fried ice cream. This was more of a fried egg roll filled with green tea ice cream and it was cut in half diagonally, served with a chocolate sauce. Dynamite. I used my hands to grab my portion and ate it like an egg roll. Fantastic. If I'm in the area again, I would definitely stop back at this place. read more

A local friend insisted this was the best sushi in the area so I gave them a second try. Again had the three maki roll lunch special. The salad was good as was the miso soup. The yellow tail with jalapeño was bland, had a little sweetness. The unagi was tough and chewy and the tuna with avocado was firm and tasteless. Did not finish. Clean and staff was average. Yoma Yama is definitely our new favorite place since moving to the area. When you first sit down they usually give you a crispy kani salad on the house which is a treat, and I've never had it anywhere else before! Came here because it had pretty good reviews for sushi to be not impressed. The place is fairly nice and clean with friendly waitresses and waiters. I had their basic cali roll which was fresh. I really appreciated that they didn't have an inch of rice on the rolls unlike other places. Their crab salad was very good and highly recommended. Their shrimp tempura was actually pretty good, but if you eat more than one it kind of gets too greasy. Their fish was not as fresh as I expected and was just meh for the price. My sister and I went into here since we had some time to kill. She ordered the Spiderman roll and I got the Age tofu and a salmon skin roll. The fillings were plentiful, with well flavoured rice on the outside. Unlike most places the rice did not overwhelm everything else in the roll. The tofu came out hot and freshly fried and was perfectly golden crispy on the outside. If we weren't in such a hurry we would have gotten something more. This is a place to return to! read more

While the gesture was nice and did not particularly like the concoction as it did not even remotely taste like crab and was a bit overdressed. The miso soup and salad were your standard offerings and did the job. I went with a spicy tuna handroll and a yellow tail, jalapeno and avocado handroll. I have been taking my now wife here for three years! We discovered this hidden gem on a whim. We were immediately blown away with the warm welcoming service. The sushi presentation as well as the freshness is out of this world. Every time we have come we are always given a free appetizer while we order. Typically my wife loves the sashimi and I order rolls(recommend the tuna avocado, caterpillar, and honey roll). Additionally, this place is BYOB which makes it great to bring wine and sake. We made it a weekly date night while we lived near the area. Now we live quite far but every time we return we are greeted and remembered by the owner! Definitely give this place a try! I usually love this place. I only gave it 4 out of 5 because the last time we were there there was a party of maybe twelve 10 year olds (not sure why their parents brought them there/how they thought that was a good idea) who were running and screaming and must've had complicated orders because it took over 1 hour for us to get our food - the food was still great! But again those kids and zero insulation/sound-absorbent decor had myself and all the other guests starting to get headaches. I def understand and the staff was apologetic, nothing they could really do. BUT the other times I've been there it was great.
