This review is for their custom letter donuts only. Regular donuts are great tasting every time I come here. They get a 5. But I ordered one dozen P donuts and one dozen J donuts. They were smaller size than their regular donuts and the J shaped donuts were a disappointment. They looked like little logs. I thought they'd at least add the top of the J to make them look better. They were pricey too. $34 for each dozen.

(Tookout 09/14/20 MO @ 12:00pm): J K Donuts was no joke! In my unwavering quest for an apple fritter wherever I was, my latest find was J K Donuts. When I did a Yelp search of the area, I appeared to be exhausting my options with only a few left to try - go figure! As I neared completion of donut shops in Whittier, would I return to this one once that time comes!? PURCHASE THE "APPLE FRITTER IS TAKING OVER THE WORLD TOUR" CONTINUED... Apple Fritter ($1.95): Not that I was an apple fritter snob - eff it...yes I was! - but there was a certain way I liked mine. 1st, the price was very comparable to the now going rate. 2nd, it was very round, I liked the thickness and density, and basically the size of my face (an ode to the great Goldstar Donuts in Van Nuys). 3rd, there was a mass amount of apple bits. 4th, the overall dark brown color was extremely nice with many burnt ends (I loved it burnt), and the heavy glaze made for an incredibly good and messy cracking effect. There were many crunchy odd crannies, corners, and nooks which I liked to break off into small little morsels. 5th, it was fresh based on its temperature with slight hints of oil pockets or gooey apple juices that leaked into your mouth and dripped down your throat. PARKING (FREE) Located within a medium strip mall with several businesses, parking actually wasn't bad at all since I parked directly in front of the shop. Otherwise, there was plenty of parking along the main drag of Whittier Blvd. and nearby side streets. I didn't notice any TVs nor background music. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL J K Donuts was a lovely find with an amazing apple fritter and would definitely return for more! Everything was fresh and yummy, the prices comparable, and the service exceptional. They also sold bagels, coffee/drinks/tea, croissants, ramen, and more! Plus, it's always a pleasure to support a mom & pop small business. I found total value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $11.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 5.0 STARS

Thanks to Yelp I was able to find a local donut shop that makes the donut letters. Placed the order a week before. Price was $26. I requested that they make the donuts a little thicker because some of the pictures from IG show the donuts on the skinnier side. The guy who helped me wasn't the most pleasant and welcoming in the world but he took the order correctly and delivered timely. Can't comment on the taste because the 13 men I was with gobbled them up...the birthday boy didn't even get to taste them.

I called early in the morning for a last minute happy bday donuts and they were able to make it for me super fast. The lady on the phone told me for orders with a special name request are normally done the day before. So for my next order I will for sure call a day in advance. I am attaching a picture of the donuts and you can see for yourself just how cute it came out. My daughter absolutely loved it. I paid $17 and it was worth every dollar to see my daughter so happy when she got it.

I would of given this place 5 stars but when picked up donut orders we got a strawberry banana smoothie with boba and it was not good. So felt like I wasted $4.50 on that.. on another note though, placed an order for pink and light blue donuts with white sprinkles and the donuts were so cute and so yummy!!! About 10 days ago, I bought some customized donuts from JK donuts and brought them to my husband's work. I'd say the donuts were aesthetically pleasing. My husband's colleagues really like them and got lots of compliments. Service: Fast! The lady was able to accomodate a short notice order a day before my husband's bday celebration at work. Food: Visually artistic. Tasted really good. However, they were a bit on a smaller size. They almost look like the bite size donuts. Price: $32+tax for the complete "Happy Birthday +name" or only $20+tax for "Happy Bday". Prices vary as well for different flavours/toppings.

Visited the mom and pop shop for the first time to order a set of letter donuts for a birthday. Pricing was reasonable and the staff was very patient and polite during my indecisiveness! Ordered the day before and paid ahead of time. There's a minimum charge of a few bucks to pay with credit card. Pricing is 16 lettered donuts for under 25 with 1 color icing with sprinkles. Just a few more dollars if you want cereal, bacon, and other special toppings. Extra dollar charge to have more than 1 color of icing. Also picked up ham/cheese croissant with some donut holes. All the donuts were really good, crispy on outside and soft on the inside. I'm definitely coming back for more letter donuts! Dunkin donuts is right next door, but I would rather support small businesses! My order of birthday donuts were so cute! read more

Donuts are good here. Service was very friendly. However, the breakfast croissant could've been better. The croissant was very large but the texture wasn't flakey or crispy (like a day old). Breakfast croissant comes with egg, one slice of ham, and cheese. Stick to donuts. Extra charge for using ATM/Credit Cards for transactions under $6. read more

I was recommended by a friend to go try this place out and I can honestly say I'm glad I took that chance! The people were really easy to work with. It was definitely worth it. They charged me $16.50 for 11 donuts and one choice of frosting, which I don't find bad because where do you ever see donuts wishing you a Happy Birthday? YUMMY! This place is right behind/next to Dublin Donuts and this place is way better! They make their donuts right there and have great coffee too. My staff loves when I bring donuts! They have your typical donuts, plus some special ones like maple bacon, and cereal topped ones. They also have some warm type breakfast rolls with meat in them. I have never tried but others seem to like them. read more

I waited more than 10 min and an elderly woman comes in and is helped immediately.The owner even got her a donut . I am Never going there again.I told the woman that cut in front of me "wow! Wow! Is all I have to say. Donuts are fresh and delightfully scrumptious! Service is very friendly. I placed a large order 2 days prior for my boys Football Team Banquet and everything was ready to go when I arrived and looked great! I have to say I was surprised when I initally drove up because they are located adjacent to a Dunkin Donuts. I wondered how you can have a small business compete with a big business, well when walked there were at least 5 customers in line, and when I walked out with my order the line was to the door!! it's your run-of-the-mill coffee'n'doughnuts place.. nothing more to say. i mean, i'm not giving them because they didn't throw hot coffee at my face when i first entered (which is always a plus) and they served with a smile. I wanted a dollar bill in exchange for four quarters, they were happy to help. Horrible customer service over the phone. I was told custom donuts need a 2 hour notice. But when I called 3 hours ahead, I was told it needs to be a day before. Girl on the phone seemed very uninterested in helping me and was making up rules as she spoke. At the end she was trying to charge me $30 to have them ready in 5 hours? 4pm when I needed them at 2pm and called at 11am. read more

I wanted to like this place because of the reviews and it's local. I finally tried it was disappointed. I went at 7 am and the selection was slim to none. It's like they were barely in business. What i ended up getting wasn't fresh and seemed old. The place is run down and dirty. I love a good hole in the wall joint but won't be returning to this one. read more

Very conversational and endearing. She even gave us 2 free maple bars and warmed them up for us. Then continued to chat and it was so darn wholesome. Donuts were amazing. We came at 6pm so we didn't expect our selection to be fresh...but it surprisingly WAS. Even when I ate the donut the next day, it's still fantastic. Our favorites are the blueberry and old fashioned. All of 'em are soo fluffy, soft and delicioussss. Highly highly recommend this place.
