Avoid using J Hart pluming. We hired them to come out and look at a leaking shower. Not only did they not fix the leak, they did work on the shower (that again, did not fix the leak) but they did not get a signed work order saying the work they charged us for was authorized. They get away with doing that because in California only work over $500 needs a work order, so of course the bill came in at $472, just under the legal limit. That was a shady business move. My girlfriend and I are young, first time home owners and because of this "quick money" scam, we will never again use J Hart pluming, and we will be advising our friends and neighbors for years to come to avoid them at all costs. read more

Couldn't be happier. We had an OLD air conditioner that broke down during 100 degree weather. They came out the same day ( we live in Don Pedro) -assessed the problem (which we suspected since the air conditioner was 33 years old), and explained our choices throughly and gave us an way. Having observed many contractors in the past I can tell Jay Hart does very high quality work, they are honest and offer fast response. Our water heater died. JHart came to evaluate the situation and install a new one on the same day I called. It was a tricky install like in many old cabins around here. Our heater is in a tight crawl space, but they got it all done in a couple of hours including bringing the piping up to code. read more

Finally got to the kitchen remodel after years of waiting. With the remodel came the need to move the sink supply lines and waste, as well as the gas line. I have had J Hart plumbing come out for a couple service calls and was always impressed with the employees, work ethic and cleanliness. I called and Jay came out in short order, assessed the job and gave me a bid. With an obviously fair bid and their reputation I decided I did not need to contact anyone else. There was a little prep work I needed to do so Jay said call when it was completed. I contacted the business and within a week Sal and Adam came out on a Friday. These guys did great work! It looked clean, solid and professional. These guys worked through lunch so the job could be done the same day! Thanks. They even put up with my three dogs pretending to be safety observers. Good: When I made the appointment, I feel they came out in a timely manner and they were given the appropriate problem's information to work on, by office staff. They did a good job, in a timely manner. They suggested I monitor the water appearing on the garage floor and keep track of it, & to monitor my water heater & see if water coming out of faucets is the appropriate temperature, monitor under the house see if ground becomes wet under the pipes. It was suggested I may need to get Septic tank pumped, also may need to purchase a new water heater, & may need to call American Leak Detection in Stockton, to check for a leak in pipes located under the house. There charge was reasonable, with a discount since I am a senior citizen and I asked for a discount. Bad: After Motherlode Septic came out & pumped my septic tank service person asked why didn't the plumber run a snake through the outside main line that goes to the septic tank? My response I did not know they were suppose to do that, this is a learning process for me. I scheduled an appointment for J. Hart to return. read more

We called J. Hart Plumbing yesterday afternoon and spoke with Robert, who was professional, kind, and sympathetic to my 89 year old mother. We had just had a new generator installed and when the electrician went to start the gas back up the starter wouldn't work, so no hot water. Robert sent a plumber out who was literally here within 10 minutes! Instead of trying to sell us a new water heater (even though ours was 13 years old), they tried to repair it, then tried to find us the parts needed (for an old WH), but could not. So ultimately we purchased a new one. Johnny Hart and Dad came out this morning and replaced it for us. SO efficient, SO timely, SO nice! What a wonderful company to work with! I had JHart come out and do the under slab plumbing on the house I am building. Talk about a good company! Buddy came out on a Saturday with 4 guys and got everything plumbed in one day! This company is at the top of their game! I had some concerns about the tub traps and communicated that to Buddy, and he sent a guy out the day the foundation was being poured to make sure nothing got misaligned before the concrete was poured. I have been in the building trades for a really long time, there are not many companies out there that are performing like JHart is. We chose J Hart Plumbing to replace our water heater based on other clients reviews and they even exceeded our expectations. They came out the same evening to scope out the work and put us on the schedule for the next business day. They actually arrived a few minutes early and gave us an estimate of the time to complete the job, based on a worst case scenario. But they completed the job much, much quicker than that. This review is for potential customers because that's as far as I got with this company. They never did any work for me because I couldn't get them to even call me back or come out to give me a quote. Called over a week ago and he said he'd call me back in the "next day or two" to schedule a time to come by and asked that I text him my name, address and job info for reference. When I didn't hear from him I text him again politely that Saturday acknowledging I knew he was probably very busy but to please contact me because I have a project I need his services for. I described it all for him so he'd have the info before calling me. He text me back only to ask me to contact him the following Monday (that is 6 days after initially calling) and even though I felt he should be contacting me at this point since he failed to do so twice already, I obliged. I contacted him again Monday (2 days ago) and at this time he still hasn't got back to me. This is very poor business etiquette. As a very busy person myself I understand things can slip but when people have to hound you just to enlist your services, that is not a good representation of good business. Too busy? Take 2 minutes and tell me that and provide a referral to a company you can vouch for. I won't speak about J Hart Plumbing's actual work but I will speak to potential customers... save your time and CALL ELSEWHERE, somewhere that appreciates you calling with work and that you can appreciate because they demonstrate good ethics (and hopefully do good work).
