This is a great outdoor spot! It's a bit expensive especially to park. I liked the sand but maybe not in the entire concert floor. It was so hot inside. There's no place good to stand unless you're vip. I probably won't go back. The owners and the kitchen staff were telling at each other since there's no teamwork. Went there for a company Christmas party and was so disappointed . Food was subpar and I didn't have high expectations to begin with . Wish I had brought my own microwaveable pizza rolls because they would have been better . Staff was non - existent most of the evening . Our group had to change bowling lanes twice due to non / functioning equipment. Also ladies restrooms were disgusting. Dirty and no toilet paper as well as several toilets straight up broken . They really scam you with the parking. $30 to park in their lot. If you park in the whole empty parking lot across the street you will 100% get your car towed away. I drive by all the time and it's constant tow trucks hauling away cars. Don't park over there. And better yet skip JD legends all together. They must be running the tow company or are working with them. Big scam! They're also not at all handicap accessible. They also bait and switch with the pricing. Was the worst food I have ever had! There were 4 adults and one child. Everyone else as finished eating by the time my appetizer (main meal) came out. I ordered the Crab Rangoon nachos and I only ate a little because I was so hungry. It was super salty, the wontons were burnt. Just overall a horrible experience. Got my ticket to see Ace Frehley though VetTix. Was really looking forward to seeing Ace and got there well before the concert started to get a decent parking spot...or so I thought. Parking in the lot was $30!!!!!! WHAT?!?! More than I paid for the ticket!!! Lot across the street has signs posted that they'll have your vehicle TOWED if you park in it, but...If you drive another 100 yards down the road you can ONLY pay $15... I'll stick to local bands, The Fraze, Rose, or Nutter Center. This seemed like a total money grab. Been there for a few concerts and never had to pay anything in the past... If you're going to donate tickets to Veterans, maybe warn them about the massive parking charge or comp them with the ticket. I definitely feel like I got suckered in so they could collect the giant parking charge. Now my VetTix account might get suspended for a month because the tickets are at Will Call. Again, felt like another set up. read more

This review is based off of my evening going to JD Legends to see The Blues Travelers - first real chance to see a major concert since the whole CoVid pandemic bullshit happened. The billing was for 2 fairly acclaimed national acts. Besides the Blues Travelers, Blessed Union of Souls was on the billing for the evening. Tickets were priced at $35 accordingly for both bands but BUOS backed out due to a conflict at Cincinnati Hard Rock Casino. So we paid $35 but lost out on a good opening band playing from 7:30 to 8:45pm with no compensation. Next is the whole parking bull crap. Nowhere in advance is it mentioned that there is an extra $5 to $10 parking fee and the lot on Legend's premise is reserved for their VIP guests. Now you are forced to park on the shopping mall lot across the street then walk to the venue. But if you do you can take advantage of a decent pizza joint in the strip mall therefore avoiding the overpriced food at the concert. That can be an unexpected plus to going to a show here. Ok so you park & go eat at the pizza joint then make your way over to JD Legends finally. The place is pretty much an old run down building used as a bowling alley way back in the 1970s but bowling is a dying sport so to generate revenue the owner decided to put up an outside stage in a sand volleyball area off to the side of the place. Not a bad idea in a way but it just isn't done right. It's as if they found some jerry rigging half ass contractor who was told what they were trying to achieve with the stage area & away he went building a semi bullshit outdoor arena. Point is- it could be way better. The sound system is adequate but missing some needed sound. Here I am listening to one of the best harmonica players around & you can not hear it. Poor board mixing or just the cheapest sound gear? I do not know for sure but it should be better. Now it rained like a mother this evening & therefore things were dicey on timing. Somehow things got pulled off yet all the place really needs to do is extend a canopy out over the stage to protect everything for rain. Maybe a $5000 investment in order to keep the band members, VIP patrons, equipment nice & dry. Also- get your asses out there to rake the sand prior to the show. Can't be that hard to do. I doubt I will ever find myself back at this place. Not because it sucks but really just because it's a bit of a hike for me & im not sure if they'll really get the sort of bands I would be willing to see there. If you're reading this considering going to a show there, just understand in advance that expectations should be on the moderate level & you can still pull off a decent time seeing a band there... as long as you just go with the flow read more

First time there with a friend. Another friend couldn't attend Clayton Anderson's concert so I gladly accepted. This country singer did not disappoint but neither did the venue! It wasn't very crowded so I really enjoyed the less busy atmosphere. Our waitress (I forget her name regrettably) was amazing-serving, personality and friendliness. I found the other staff very pleasant as well. Great appetizers, cold beer and clean restrooms made for a great night out. I'll be back! read more

Guy at the front counter for bowling is a complete ASSHOLE, we had a coupon to use and i handed him my phone to scan it. He was very angry because I did not tell him beforehand, he said "This is bullshit" very harsh and then he THREW my phone back at me and it was loud due to someone singing, so we had to have him repeat what he said multiple times. I have NEVER been treated like this by someone in a customer service area. Absolutely TERRIBLE. Will not return. Doesn't even deserve one star. read more

We have come here for several years for concerts and have been incredibly pleased. Tonight, it was very obvious that money is the only concern there now. Has management changed!? You have to pay $5 to rent a chair and can't bring your own in. And don't sit down anywhere because someone will come and ask if you've paid for that seat. If you didnt get VIP tickets you can stand in one line around a bar that's had 80% of it blocked for VIP. AND. Once you give in and ask for VIP tickets, they are sold out. So we now have $60 already in to the night and no where to sit, no hopes of ever getting drinks and who knows if this band is even worth the cover charge we already paid!? Fine if I'm seeing someone that has a name and is worth it. The band playing obviously has something that interests people but booking venues that operate this way will only hurt them. I will almost certainly never even consider going to see this band now. read more

I have made several complaints and while management made initial contact to attempt to resolve the issues, after my response I was promptly blocked on social media and nothing was ever resolved. Disappointing that the "new management" would start their business off on this foot. The iasues initially arose after they cancelled a concert and gave us the run around with no refund. The issues snowballed from there. Want to play some sand volleyball? Try Setters or Scene 75 in Dayton. Mediocre burgers? Red Robin, they're actually worth their price. Bowling? Pick any other local alley. Can almost promise they service and experience will be 100% better. Concerts? Try Oddbody's. read more

I can't believe I didn't write this back when it happened. I really loved this place, looking for excuses to go back. I do NOT live nearby, but given the right concerts I have no issue with driving/riding the 90+ mins each way on a Saturday night. Really neat concert area that doubles as a sand volleyball area during the summer. Strange how I stumbled upon this place, but the short & sweet of it was my ex-wife bought tix for my daughter to see a couple bands and I somehow ended up taking her. Neither of us realized quite what the venue was, but it worked out. The only problem is somehow the email we printed off with the start time for the concerts was off by 2 hours and we missed a significant chunk of the show (hence the 4 stars). Attended a concert here and the place was crowded. Food was great, but service was very slow. Waitress was nice. Patron beware though, if you're attending a concert, the prices in the menu aren't what you will be charged. Ordered a few $3.75 beers thinking it was a good deal, got the bill and they turned into $8 "concert beers". No signage anywhere for this large up charge. Probably won't come back because of that. They just renovated the restaurant and bar and modernized the menu and craft beer selection. The chicken and waffles were KILLER. IPA on tap was ice cold and delicious. Really good food and the staff and owners are super friendly. Give this place a chance if you haven't been here in a while. We will return soon. read more

Nice beach feel with great music

Quite possibly the worst food I have ever eaten. Worst then my #ramen noodle days. Everything was definitely frozen. Chicken was dry and probably microwaved, calzone doe tasted old and stale. Our sides came out all separate and not with meal. Service was horrible 2 Pepe's running around but took forever to get things done. I would never eat here again. Then the place is like the outside of a NASCAR car everywhere you look we're sponserships. I couldn't figure out if we where at a bowling alley, restaurant, or midget fighting arena. The good: The food is better than one would expect at a venue like this and the prices for both food and drink were good. Staff was uniformly friendly and helpful. The bad: The sound system is simply awful. Sat in the back of the floor and heard very little but the feedback that they couldn't get fixed all evening. Speaking of seating, when a venue puts on a concert where most of the performers' fans are in their teens and 20s, having an open area in front of the stage with a "chairs allowed" section behind it makes perfect sense. When the performer has an audience with an age range of teens through 60s and older, one should be able to sit, see, and hear. The SteelDrivers should have been a seated show. read more

First off, I will say that this place has some of the best security staff. Very thorough in checking people as they are coming in. Outside of that, this place is not big enough as a concert venue. We waited in line for 45 minutes and that was just to get in the first set of doors (also finding out during this time that you could not have chairs, you have to BUY one for 5 dollars). They were completely packed inside because they did not want anyone outside while sound checks were going on (come to find out the sound system was screwed up and they had to let people through eventually due to the line forming into the parking lot). We ate in the restaurant and food was good, service good for as busy as it was. Finally making our way outside to the volleyball sand quart to find out that there was no place to sit unless you planned on sitting in the sand. I would say the area we were in was 50 x 50 yards which after you pack hundreds of people in it's small. There is one way in and one way out and that is through a small set of steps up to the deck area. I did not like this due to the fact if there is an emergency, I would say your screwed. Food is ok but on volleyball nights eat elsewhere. Last week the server told me that it would be at least 90 minutes (yes 1.5 hours) to get my cheeseburger. This happens quite often and I wonder how the servers can make any money. The second contact was made two days before the event when I called about the timing of the event. Was told our tickets included a meet and greet with the artist and a buffet. When we arrived at the event, it was raining. Our table was not under over, I was told our tickets did not include the meet and greet or the buffet. Was not told there were six to a table, though some tables had 8 people. We were crammed in like sardines. Service was marginal at best. Came here for a concert and had VIP tickets and paid $100 but the people who ordered gold passes ($40) got front row ? Also they moved the fan towards the workers and not people sitting in VIP section. Then when we got to meet a performer, one of the waitresses got to go in front of everyone..... Makes no sense. Asked for manager multiple times and took an hour for him to come up to us. Wasn't impressed at all. Volley ball is pretty fun there but you also have the teams that don't show up and your money is wasted. The workers aren't that friendly also. read more
