Having immersed ourselves in local cuisine for over a week, we thought it would be nice to have a change and testing the consistency of their food overseas. First thing we noticed - no line ups. The locations we been to in the USA often have long waits, but not here. The interior follows the same decor and style as you would see in the USA, so no differences there. The menu is similarly expansive, with a lot of the same familiar menu items we're familiar. Small difference - entrees come with a "free" soup here, like going to a cha chaan teng. We ended up getting two things: - Mandarin Chicken Salad: Good. In the USA, it's referred to as a Chinese Chicken Salad, but it's the same thing. Maybe a bit smaller portion size in HK. - Crusted Chicken Romano: Good. Just as I would imagine it to taste in the USA. - Soup: OK. I don't quite remember what the accompanying soup was, but it was fine. Not memorable. - Complimentary Bread: Good. They use the same recipes so the bread, especially the brown loaf are always a treat to eat. Service was good. Overall, it was a good meal. Although not identical, it's very close to the original in terms of look, service and food quality, although relatively more expensive.

Absolutely terrible as I was being LIED to by a manager at the 'take out' / 'cake counter' section when it was the cheesecake Monday Delight for the month of JUNE. I went there tried to order a slice of cheesecake (they had 5 choices on promotion, 3 were sold out, and I picked the coconut cheesecake or something like that). The Manager (a male with glasses in his late 30s-mid 40s) told me that the promotion (half off) would require a purchase of 2 slices! but I only wanted one slice, and so I said 'thank you'. But later I found out from other customers (and those on Instagram posts) that it's really just 1 slice 50% off...any customer can purchase up to 2 slices. I've been to Pie day at CAKE (their stock symbol) in the US many times and NEVER EVER I required to buy 2 slices to get this 1/2 off promotion! (sometimes PIE day was 'free slice' if I ordered a meal). So this cheesecake location in HK is the worst EVER w/ a manager who LIES!

Side note, they had a hk exclusive flavour: salted caramel mille crepe cake. But i didnt try it. Ever since my first visit in NYC ive been in love with them and tried so many places to try and find something similar since we dont have Lady M in Canada. But ofc none of my attempts succeed. I dont think ive seen the rose one in NYC. They both tasted amazing. I came here on a weekday afternoon. There was still a line (i came knowing there would be a line up, so no biggie), but it wasnt a long wait. Their tables were like along the sides of the mall, i dont even think i saw the store front or the cake shelf. I liked the two locations i visited in NYC where they were actual stores. I'm a local Bay Area native from San Jose, so suffice to say, I was really curious about Lady M when my HK cousin was raving all about it. Taste wise? The first half of the cake slice was very satisfying. However, it is a bit too rich for my taste and I find myself getting a little overwhelmed by the time I get to other half of the slice. This is the first time I've ever tried a crepe Mille cake, and I'm very interested in the concept. Lady M is definitely upper scale at about 9-10 USD per slice. My cousin and I ordered the earl gray while my mom ordered the original. I did love the ambiance and the simple, classy decor of the place as well as the bags/boxes. Hopefully, they'll bring a Lady M to the Bay Area!

Sift makes what I think are the best cupcakes in Hong Kong. At $28 a cupcake (used to be $25 a few months back), Sift's prices are comparable to other cupcake stores. For example, Kisses Cupcakes sells 'standard' flavors at $25 and 'signature' flavors at $30. I've tried quite a few flavors at Sift, like their famed Red Velvet, Smores and Oreo. I love that their cupcakes are filled inside, so the cupcake is actually moist and not dry at all. The flavors aren't too sweet either, and the extremely smooth and creamy frosting on top complements the cake perfectly. It's hard to decide, but I would say my favorite flavor is the Red Velvet. My first time trying their Red Velvet cupcake was my first time trying anything that's Red Velvet flavor, so I wasn't sure what to expect. My friends told me that Red Velvet is basically chocolate, and it is - but so much better. I was skeptical of how cream cheese would taste good with chocolate, but the cream cheese frosting actually adds a really nice touch to the cupcake and kind of brings out its flavor. Even though Sift is known for its cupcakes, you shouldn't ignore their pastries! I've tried their lemon tart, and it's a perfect blend of tangy and sweet flavors. The lemon has a slight menthol taste to it, making it very refreshing. If you're a fan of cupcakes, Sift is a must-try - and if you're not a fan of cupcakes, doesn't matter because you will be after trying Sift!

They do have other cakes and fancy bits; macaroons, cookies, cheesecakes, and pasties like mille feuilles and tarts, but its really the cupcakes that they excel in. The cupcakes are made with the finest ingredients including valrhona chocolate and french butter, and topped with some very inventive little icing swirls. My current favourites are banana foster, lemon meringue, toffee apple, and coconut. To be fair, they are not the cheapest things in the world at HKD28 each, but well worth every single lovely bite! I find them particularly useful for office birthdays, as you can get a bunch of different flavours. Just incase your boss hates chocolate (yep, bosses are mental). They also do a gluten free option. And as an added bonus, if you are far from home, they will provide ice packs to keep your cakes cool from the HK heat. However, I never find they last long enough for me to get them home!

My favorite Chinese bakery in Hong Kong…read more My brother said the Kee Wah bakery in International Financial Centre is larger than the one located at the basement of Sogo in Causeway Bay; perhaps there is a bigger selection. Whatever my brother says, I believe him. After all he is the wiser one. There are just two favorites I usually get in Kee Wah. They are: 1) Chinese sweet crispies (HKD20 for a pack of 4) 2) Pineapple Shortcake (HKD8.50 each) This shop is indeed bigger than the small stall in Sogo but the few things I bought can be found in the small stall as well. There are so many interesting pastries I like to get but the thought of packing them to head home to Atlanta in 9 days time is already giving me a headache. So I bought 8 pineapple shortcakes, 2 mango shortcakes (since I love mangoes!!) and two packs of sweet crispies. Will definitely try to save those pastries so I can slowly enjoy them when I return to Atlanta :)
