Three Strikes!
I took a throw blanket in for drycleaning to remove an odor and three pair of new pants for alterations. When I went to pick up the throw, it smelled the same - as though nothing had been done. I asked them to redo it. I suspect they did nothing - there was no change in the smell when I returned a second time for it.
I asked for the price for alterations and was told $10 each. When the counter person gave me the ticket, the charge was $35. I asked why the difference. She said it was $11, not $10 - despite having said $10 moments before. I asked how she got to $35. She stalled for a bit and then said they charge extra for pants that are wider on the bottom (!). I hadn't been told beforehand there would be an extra charge and the pants were not wider than any normal pair of slacks.
The pants were scheduled for pick-up on a Saturday. I went in the Monday after and the staff person told me they weren't scheduled for pick-up until the following Saturday - despite the due date being clearly written on the ticket.
That's THREE mistakes for my first encounter with J's Cleaners.
I understand if a business makes a mistake and corrects it but this business seems to have a practice of deliberate deception. On top of that, they didn't do a good job, didn't deliver on time and charged a lot.
I wouldn't recommend this business. read more
