If nothing else he could have been professional enough to explain to me why he disconnected wires/equipment and wouldn't hook them back up.

I had a bucket list of items that I needed help with. I got ridiculous quotes from other electricians, $2200, $2600, $2500. Marty came by, looked at the job and had decided the best course of action what to just do Time and Materials at his hourly rate. It saved him from underestimating/overestimating and I could manage the costs fairly. Items completed: 1. Deck Post light caps: Caseta switch installation. Also diagnosing some incorrect connections (I had made incorrect connections previously). Wiring an incomplete LV wiring run to complete a 'missing' section of lights. 2. Under deck puck lights: 15 Amp box and 2nd Caseta switch installation powering puck lights 3. Troubleshooting Magnitude MLV Transformer (found bad caseta switch and worked with Lutron support to diagnose and get replacement) 4. Installed heat tape on troublesome (ice/snow) roof section I got everything done for roughly $600.00. (I bought all the materials in advance ~$100 worth and did some "brain dead" stuff myself (like running 14/2 UF wire through existing conduit). In any event, I was thrilled with T&M as was he. I believed I saved roughly $1500 by spending an hour or two myself and having Marty come in for the rest. I think I found my new 'go to' electrician in my area. Fair, honest and hard working.

He right…read moreaway said he doesn't install because people complain later about the warranty, I said to him, I understand, and all I need it ducting I don't need him to install the units as we had already installed or will be installing, as there were 7 in total, I had gotten one installed all ready for him to the duct. He agreed to come to check out the scope of work. He came out and assessed the work, and one of our units had less freon he offered to put it in for $50, but said there might be dirt in the line and it needed a cleaning and would cost $450. I opted for the $450, he said he didn't have time to do that, but could do the $50 freon top-up, I said ok, but then he didn't have his tools, and so we agreed to do it the following week. His brother had died and he went for his funeral and did come back the following Monday, we did wait all week, as we thought he was a good fit for the job. The second time he came by, he was there for the $450 fix, but by then we had decided to upgrade the unit and so we did not need the $450 service to be done on that day, as we would get a new unit with the gas in there, and so I asked him about the ductwork quote. He started talking badly about the units we had bought, this and that, warranty, parts, and all that, I mentioned to him, that I was clear he would not be responsible for the brand, we bought a Toshiba brand, and he uses Daikan. I mentioned to him, I know Daikan is a good brand. He asked me how much i paid for my units, then said his units are going to cost more, I said to him, I am not interested in buying units from him as I already know what I want, and need him to do the ducting and that this is a rental property and so I am okay with what I have. His remark was that it looks like, I am trying to cut corners and so he would not be interested in doing the work. I asked him again, that I only asked him to do the ductwork, which has nothing do to with the units as we would be installing our own and don't need his assistance, he said he would not be doing the duct work, I asked why he said he just didn't want to do it. Basically, he was trying to sell his own Daikan brand units to me whereas we know there is a margin for the installer when they sell their own product, which is perfectly fine, but when I called him and made it clear to him that all we need is ducting work to be done, which is a service. He should have stuck to that, and nothing more should have been said, he wasted 2 weeks of our time in all this, and we had to get a whole new set of quotes and select someone else to do the work. Not happy with his work ethic.

His company came as a recommendation from someone who had gone with a cheaper roofing company and then regretted it. Dana got up on my roof, took measurements, and promptly provided an estimate. It took a couple of months to get me on the schedule, but that says something about their reputation if that many people trust them and want them to do the roofing job. They showed up right at 7:30 am on the day they said they would with a posse of trucks! Within minutes, I had 6 guys up on my roof stripping off old shingles. Dana was on the ground organizing the crew and getting things started. He told me he has been roofing his entire life and most of the crew he has has been as well. After an hour or so, he left and the foreman on the job kept things moving smoothly. I went outside and observed them at work several times. They worked hard and fast. I observed teamwork and professionalism. They worked together like a well oiled machine. Crew members were assigned to different jobs: shingling, carrying up shingles, cleaning the ground and carrying away roofing debris, etc. Within a day and a half, my entire roof was done and my yard cleaned. I have a very large roof with 3 different levels, valleys, several skylights, and two chimneys. Knowing the job was done well and is guaranteed gives me great peace of mind. I highly recommend them.

This company has been replacing the roof at the house where I rent. They are trying to claim that they didn't break the cable but it's clearly been crushed! The "young man" who was in charge of the job tried to talk over me as I tried to explain the situation to me.
