Very great people (Lam and Mai) having nice customer service, I've been coming over one year to get gel acrylic nails, I love how they leave my nails, they take their time to make sure they are done nice which I truly appreciate, what's also another great thing about this salon are the prices. I started going here back in 2014 and was in love to find a place that wasn't jammed pack and and manicurists who knew your preferences and listen to what you said. Given not all people remove gel nails soak your hands and water after giving it a chance to rehydrate. I went in there today to have my acrylic nails removed and get a set of gel nails. Before he started I explained to him that I had acrylic and all of my nails were my own except for my pinkies. I thought he understood that I wanted to soak them off but instead he just grabbed his file and started filing it down leaving it in one spot a little too long often burning my finger. Then he grabs his nail cutters and start hacking away and the most uncaring way where it splits my long nails right down the middle all the way to the point where he practically just cut all growth I had off. When I got it upset and explained to him that I wanted to keep my nails long he says but the acrylic makes it weak. Correction the way you remove acrylic makes your nails weak especially if you just rip it off instead of soaking them off. I may go back to them for my pedicures but never again for my manicures. I kind of think he was just mad because I went to another salon for designs because unfortunately they don't have much to choose from. I guess I'll be looking for a new salon. I can't believe two months of trying to grow my nails have been wasted because he couldn't take off my acrylics properly. I am never coming back to this placed for manicures!!! If I can give them negative Stars I would. Ladies watch out because not only does he not listen to have the length of your nails but he also tries to change your mind on the colors you pick. It's almost like he's doing this for his taste and not yours! 2 years of loyalty and this is what I get. Save your money and don't go here. read more

My mom actually referred me here and I'm so glad she did. Previously I had been going to BJ'S nails down the street but lately the quality has been lacking. So I wanted to give this place a try! This place is not really noticeable when driving down the busy street of Western. You have to look closely! But when you do find it you'll be glad you did :) The husband and wife that run this place are so nice and attentive. Every time I've been here there's hardly been a wait. I hate to give away a gem of Gardena, but heck they deserve it! Today I got a glittery gel manicure and regular spa pedicure. Spa machines were clean and water was just right! They used 3 coats of glitter polish to make sure I got a deep color and they did it free of charge! I was very satisfied with how my mani & pedi came out. There was a lot of loose glitter everywhere after my mani but the husband tried his best to get it off lol. All in all, awesome place! Lam and Mai make a great duo and their work is amazing. Mind you I'm from Texas so I have my nail tech at home but like always left everything until the last minute. Walked in and got taken care of right away. He took his time doing my nails and I loved it! The shaping was great and he even fixed my polish when i accidentally smudged it lol he made conversation with me which made me feel more comfortable and he was super nice and friendly! Great prices! Very affordable which I live because California is EXPENSIVE! I have been to bigger, fancier and more elite nail salons but I go out of my way to come to J&J Nails Spa because the couple who owns and operates this business are attentive, professional, perfectionists, friendly, and run a very clean shop. I especially like the warm towel treatment. They are always happy to see me and they do a tremendous job with gel nails. They are beautiful. And because I have short nails working with my hands, he does a longer tip for my French tip and it gives the illusion of having long nails. I wanted to love this place - looks like the owner does her own work and the prices were reasonable (under $30 for spa mani/pedi, including buffing for mani - I am not sure if this was a discounted price - see below). It's also within walking distance of Gardena Honda, where I take my car for service (I've always thought that they should combine car service with nail salons). I think that the owner was training someone - owner worked on mani while other lady did pedi. I think that's why the price was lower. They were both really nice and did above average hand/leg massages, but they both nipped me (=blood), which I usually take as a bad sign. The owner checked the other lady's work and ended up re-doing the polish on one foot. So the whole experience took much longer than I planned. On the positive side, they were really nice about me bringing in my baby and stroller, and there were no harsh fumes (probably because I was there when they first opened). Overall, you might want to check it out if you are in the area - looks like they are cheaper than some of the other neaby places. read more

Today was my first time going there. I thought I would have the same experience as some of the other reviews. The husband and wife team were very pleasant; however, the end result was very disappointing. Unfortunately, this will not be my new nail spa. On the pedi, my feet look worse than they did before I got this pedicure. The polish is not neat at all. It looks like my 5 year old niece polished my toes. All was done was old polish removed, cuticles cut, and nails polished...no mention of callus remover nor any other type of exfoliation. Not even any lotion or as some use...cuticle oil. I will be getting my feet redone tomorrow. On the gel mani...nails are pathetic. Polish on skin and cuticles. No shine whatsoever. In fact the nails are horrible. What a waste of my time and money. This nail shop is quite little compared to the neighboring ones. It is a bit hard to locate as a tree blocks its store name. Once you get pass the tree and into the store, you realize how warm and soothing this place can be. The nail shop is owned by a little Asian woman named Nancy (typical). She is not that fluent in English, but you can still understand her. The way she talk is really cute. She really know how to converse with her customers and sometimes even their children (not in a creepy way that is). The service here is great! The owner is actually one of the worker herself. She really know how to pamper you. I love getting my mani and pedi here. Not only that, but she's great at waxing too. She is often accompanied by another worker or so. Usually, that worker lacks the skill that she has, but nevertheless, the other worker is capable of doing the same thing as Nancy can. The prices are cheap and the service is great!
