rude. came in to get my eyebrows waxed because i work in the same shopping center. they were a bit busy. i came in, lady doing nails said can i help you, and i said eyebrows. she talked across the room to another lady and they said can you comeback another day we are busy. i'm not a conformational person so i got up and left. you don't treat costumers like that. i'm a paying costumer like everyone else. they would've told me the wait time and i would've evaluated if i wanted to wait or not. but they told me in front of everyone to comeback another day and they were busy. regardless of whether i work in the shopping center or not, it's distasteful. It is sad that I have to leave this review as my husband and I were quite happy with them even though my very first appointment on July 26, 2023 was a disaster. With my first appointment Sony rushed through very quickly and made me feel as if he was upset that I came in late during the day, but we'd called first and it was also on the recommendation of an acquaintance. I watched the technician doing my husband and decided to give them another try by going to her, her being Tracy. My appointment with Tracy was so great that my husband and I decided that we no longer needed to continue our search and would come here for our regular monthly appointments and that is what we did every month for the next 8 months we would come from Riverside County to indulge in our services of being pampered. Last month January 2024 we called to reschedule because of a family emergency and Tracy let us know she would not be available so we scheduled it for today 2/1/2024 as usual we made our way to Los Angeles County from Riverside County to make our 12:30pm appointment and when we arrived they said Tracy was out sick. Very disappointed because it would have been nice to have been notified but what was most important was Tracy's health so we left because being a licensed manicurist myself I do not like going from one technician to another, I'd rather wait for the technician who you think you've built a rapport with for me that being Tracy. Boy was I wrong! But what I remembered as we were walking up to the salon door is it seemed as if Tracy was in her usual eating spot but I did not really pay it much attention because since we were not going to get serviced I had other things I could deal with before the rain came again. Once I got home I decided to call the salon to see if Tracy was in and sure enough she was miraculously healed from whatever was ailing her this morning. I explained to her that all she had to do was let us know that they no longer wanted to service us instead of giving us an appointment for us to drive 90 miles to be lied to. As a professional nail technician I would never treat a customer in that manner under any circumstances. She proceeded to say she did not have my number another sign of unprofessionalism you have recurring customers for the last 8 months who show up once a month on Thursday at 12:30pm and you never recorded the phone number. I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and Since Tracy and Famous Nails has more customers than they know what to do with I will gladly spend my money at a salon where the technician and staff are not liars. The only thing this place can do to improve is to shut down completely. I came in for a fill and the woman (short Asian with black shoulder length hair and bangs), can only describe her because she didn't want to give me her name because she knew she tore my nails up badly. The place is not clean, outdated and I only stayed cause it was last minute and figured it would be quick. The first mistake she made was not putting the base coat on which I told her about but she insisted we didn't need because of the kind of polish she was using, then after the first coat of gel polish went on I noticed bubbles, lots of bubbles, I mentioned it to her she said it was okay it was the "special polish", another coat went on and then I noticed wrinkles, I mentioned it and she said it was okay she'd fix it, I'm like there's no need to fix it if you would've just listened the first time then all of a sudden the special polish she mentioned became the problem and she said something was wrong with it, I couldn't wait any longer and she still charged me $30 when fills are $25. With all this COVID situation that's going on, my go to nail salon is closed of (course) :/ i was desperate to get a pedicure so i decided to give this place a try & it didn't turn out as i was expecting. An older lady did my pedicure & she did a horrible job! She did not remove any cuticles or ingrowns which that's the main reason why i always get pedicures! I paid $35 for the service (Gel polish) tip included. Won't be returning again, for the price that im paying i expect a decent job. AVOID this place if you want to get ripped off. read more

I warred with posting this review as I have always in the past received excellent service. My last visit, however, left me feeling conflicted, although I know that this review is long overdue. My regular nail technician was Billy, who had treated me with the utmost respect and was extremely professional pre-COVID-19. However, my first visit back, started pleasant enough but then became problematic. There were some social distancing protocols in place and the stations appeared to be sanitized. As my service started, I noticed that Billy didn't start with sanitized drill bits and tools. He also placed them back in the kit without sanitizing them. I also noticed that the customer next to me receiving a manicure was shown a sealed package with sanitized manicure items. I questioned Billy to which his response was "Oh, it's because she's getting a manicure " I replied. "Yes. I understand that but the cuticle nipper being used was part of the sanitized kit, yet you pulled yours out of your plastic box, and I don't know whether you sanitized it or not. The customer next to me got the opportunity to see that her items were sanitized ". He said, "Yes. I sanitized them". I said okay even though I still felt uneasy and his immediate change in demeanor confirmed my thoughts. I knew that my speaking out was going to cost me. He finished the service and made sure that I saw him take his plastic case to the back (during my pedicure with my regular technician) and placed it in the sanitation machine (something he'd never find the entire year I've been a patron there). All of his moves from that point were very exaggerated to show that he was sanitizing his area. Once my services were done, I go to the register to pay. He makes a beeline to charge me when on any other occasion whoever was near the register (and there was a tech at the register) could charge me. I paid thirty-five more dollars than what I normally paid with no extra services other than gel polish on my feet. I've since located a different multi-cultural salon where the customer service was excellent. read more

I have going to nail place for a little over 2 years! I started as a walk in and starting making appointments as I continued going there. Everyone is nice and most times and seated you right away. Sometimes there is a wait, depends really on how busy they are. Every nail tech tries to make sure you are happy with the service and your choice in shape, length and color. My first visit, I LOOKED UNDER MY PITS THEN DECIDED LAST MINUTE I NEEDED AN UNDERARM WAX, SO I DROVE TO the nearest Nail salon that offered waxing services. i walk in and immediately greeted since there was only one client in the entire salon! I said out loud i needed a wax. they said for me to sit, then i said underarm wax and they brought me to a tiny small room. pretty un-sanitary- reason 1) The couch has no wax tissue covering that needs to be replaced after and before each new client! it was a basic throw blanket with a black couch pillow spread out screaming.. "GERMS! GERMS!" I HESITATED to lay down, but figured i just came back from the gym and was going to go straight home & shower anyway. she was speaking her native language to a dude in there, he rolled in the waxing tools on a cart. he brought in an extension cord, keep in mind, i was sitting in this tiny, itty bitty room with a grown man in there and a woman trying to do three things at once! he tried several times to plug in the wax machine onto the outlet and still failed after 5 minutes of going back and forth, IT was not going to work!! so she attempted to wax me with the wax solution which by now has gone luke warm since he failed at making the wax heat up onto the power outlet. she DIPPED THE SAME STICK MORE THAN 5 TIMES!! GROSSSSSSSSSSSS THAT ALONE SCREAMS.. INFECTIOUS DISEASES! THIS PLACE NEEDS TO HAVE A HEALTH INSPECTOR COME IN AND THEY NEED TO GET THERE SHI* TOGETHER! on top of that, she was basically blind! she was not that old either, aprox in her mid 40s she said "OK FINISHED" than i look over both ways and right away see 10 long strands! c'mon!!!!!! she attempts to pluck them than keeps saying shes done when obviously i realize im dealing with a half blind individual and that i am just wasting my time!!! so unhappy, i pay my wasteful $15 and leave with nO TIP! Sooooo. Wanted to try a new nail salon. I should've come to yelp first. Although the staff was... well approachable, I asked if they could do nail designs like the ones on my toes. Horrible! Do not go! I came here on Christmas Eve with my sister to get out nails done. We walked in around 5 and they said they would take us as walk ins. I made the mistake by not getting gel because I wanted this specific color. They rushed my manicure and pedicure so much that this is what my nails looked like 2 days later!!!! They dried correctly as I waited 45 minutes for them to dry before leaving. When he did the first and second coats it barely covered the first coat. As Christmas Day was taking place I noticed cracking and chipping. Now I don't do hard labor or anything so I was confused at how my nails could be in this condition. I have been desperate for a mani pedi. My last one was in March? I stopped being this place on a weekday and it was empty. The staff looked like they barely wanted to move. There was one lady, older, who was working with a customer and everyone else was lounging around. The chairs were old and so were the techniques. No massage at all for legs or arms. They actually used a little wood stick with a nail at the end that looks like it was bought from Home Depot for my feet. My polish on my fingers chipped off after a day and that has never happened to me before. Look People here's the True Story about Famous Nails, Redondo Beach Blvd., Gardena. The owner WAS a beautiful, petite woman named Lisa Nguyen. I had been going to her to get my nails done for the past 10 years. She was Wonderful.... professional, efficient ...... ok in August 2013 she suffered a heart attack. She was in the hospital for a little while, then she went back to work. She didn't feel very good. I don't really know what exactly happened; all i know is that now she's been in the hospital for a month, and she needs a new heart. So, um, that's the story. My nails have been GREAT for the past 10 years, but only when done by Lisa, the owner. She weighs about 85 pounds. She needs a new heart. She sold the business and is tryiing to sell their house to pay for her medical bills. It's a sad, sad, story. She is loved by everybody. Many people have cried. When I found out I cried the whole time i was getting my nails done. She's in Kaiser hospital, downtown Los Angeles. Lisa, we love you. Please hang in there. I am in contact with my roommate's brother, who is a heart doctor at Cedar Sinai. He's really well respected in his profession, and I pray to God he can save her life. I know this all sounds like so much melodrama, but it's all true. I'm just trying to help her. So I also thought I'd post a postivie review of the nail salon on Yelp. Went here with my mom, sisters, and grandma for my moms wedding. I personally had a great experience. I didn't give 5 stars because the lady who polished my nails didn't do so great. Also the lady who painted my sisters toes did a terrible job and got polish all over her skin. On a better note, the gentlemen that did my nails was very professional and did a great job. I have been to my fair share of little nail shops. I have to say that this place is disgusting! They seem bothered to just greet you. I chose a spa Mani Pedi and she filled the tub with ICE water. When I asked for warm, she just poured a small bowl of Luke warm water in the tub. In the end, my nails had a ton of bubbles and polish all over the skin. But the worst part that made it so I will NEVER come back is the fact that I saw 3 cock roaches! When I and 2 other patrons pointed them out, they could not have cared less.
