I lost my faith in the owners and managers of these places and began going to Chattanooga or had stopped going out all together. Just last week I went to a bar here in town because I was invited by friends that play in a band that was performing there. The place is called Castaway Club and they are located in the former 5th Quarter Pub building. Immediately I told them no and asked why they were playing in what had become reputable of as being a dangerous place that was filthy, had a lot of fights and rude staff. My friend prodded me to come give it a chance because it was under new ownership. Well let me tell you what, I am impressed. First I digress, NO I do not work there. With that out of the way - the place has been renovated and looks cool. There are two parts to the place. One part is a small eatery (with a full bar). It is quiet there, carpeted and very mellow. On the other side is a full wide open dance club with pool tables, computer games on the bar, a wide selection of liquor and a huge dance floor (the biggest one in Dalton). I met the manager and he was one down to earth guy! He really shows genuine gratitude for your patronage and when you leave they make you feel like you are going to be missed and want you back. So I returned to the place a few days later and talked with the manager and jotted down a lot of the information - Daltonians need to know more about this plave, give it a chance and discover one of the best places Dalton has ever had. If we do not show our support and drop in he might pull up stakes and go somewhere else. After hearing SO SO many people (incliding mysefl) whine about the poor quality of the night life in Dalton - we finally got one and it might just slip through our fingers!

I highly recommend the "Bartender's Choice" cocktail option--the staff is incredibly skilled, and the drinks they crafted were awesome. ​However, management needs to fix their highly deceptive checkout flow. The bar chooses not to bake Tennessee's mandatory 15% Liquor-by-the-Drink tax into their menu prices. When the bartender flips the POS tablet to pay, the system completely hides the itemized receipt. It jumps straight to a final total that includes a combined 24.25% in state and liquor taxes. ​To make matters worse, the screen presents ridiculous suggested tip options of 20%, 30%, and 40%--which are calculated on top of that heavily taxed final total rather than the subtotal. If you just tap a prompt, you end up aggressively tipping on hidden taxes. ​Come for the excellent cocktails and great bartenders, but ignore the suggested buttons and manually calculate your tip based on the actual menu price of your drinks.

I must say for a nightclub it is impressive for Chattanooga. They have to areas outdoors on the left-hand side with a fire pit and seating and a few tables. You can also sit outside on the right-hand side but no fire pit. This review is based on me just touring the place over a few hours and mostly sitting outside watching people come in. They do serve beer and mixed drinks and they also serve food, which I did not partake. Oh yea, draft beer (+1). I also had the chance to chat with Randy, the manager, and I appreciate his openness. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and you could tell he was on top of everything there. Great people person. When you arrive, women can expect to get "wanded" and their purses checked and the men will also be frisked, I assume for weapons. As with most of these types of nightclubs, it seems to get busy around 10 o'clock at night and I was told that many nights they reach capacity by 11 o'clock and there is a line to get in, sometimes around the block so may want to get there early. As people leave, they allow others to enter, because I think they have a maximum occupancy of about 800. Security seems to be pretty tight which I can understand due to the clientele being younger for the most part have a lot of alcohol flowing. I had the chance to meet and talk to some of the security personnel and they were outgoing and friendly, but rest assured, they are there to ensure everyone has a good time and no one is bothered and if you were to get out of hand, it is obvious they know what to do. The club is three levels with the bottom level still being developed and it has pool tables, dartboards and when finished in a couple of weeks will be quite a neat hangout. The middle level (entrance) has lots of tables and bars and appears to be more of a live band (country) and maybe a little older crowd. This seems to be the better place to eat. Again, it was somewhere I would hang out. The upper level is probably a "younger" crowd and it is the loud dance music (I use the term music lightly) where it has a constant beat so dancers and bounce up and down . Music s somewhat crude at times and there is a lot of bumping and grinding going on. You can hardly move up there when it is crowded and It seem to be very crowded early on this level . Also, I was told it can get hot (temperature wise). Word of caution, especially to the younger crowd, be sure you don't drink and drive because first of all not a safe or smart thing to do but secondly, there are police cars just sitting there watching the place. I left on my motorcycle around 1 AM and saw three just sitting there. I am not a night owl and too old for the 3 AM checkout. I no longer get home when people are getting up. For what it is, it is a pretty neat place for Chattanooga and you would think you were downtown NYC or Atlanta. I give it a 5 and it has something for everyone. If I got something wrong here, just drop me a note.

The show here was kind a like a play if you ask me complete with 4 actors and 4 actresses and even a piano player. It lasted for about an hour and a half. It was funny with some skits that even made you laugh. They probably had 4 or 5 skits and each was ended simply by someone running around the stage. Then, they would act out a different scene. The tasting included 6 and they allow you additional as well so you can try others you didn't get or just get another of the ones you enjoyed. All were really good with that smooth whiskey burn that warms from the inside out well being full of flavors!
