A trusted locksmith who can resolve a simple yet far from an amateur DIY problem with an expert…read moresolution. $125 got me a simple entry door lock-out problem. Not a complex lock, but a secure one that would be difficult to resolve without a trained locksmith. I don't know comps (comparable) rates by others, but I'd say for a housecall where he has to take time to travel back and forth, plus his professional tools and expertise, it sounded fair enough. Be sure to call Alex. Confirm the details. Provide a photo of the lock itself so he knows what brand or style and can give you the right estimate. If you're in a time crunch or have limitations related to urgency of getting the lock unlocked, be clear and discuss his availability and a realistic arrival time. He has other clients/projects, so there could be miscommunication interpretation delays of where you fall into his schedule that day. I interpreted "in 45 mins" as an ETA (estimated time of arrival) for a job in the South Bay Beach Cities area, but it ended up being closer to 2 hours or so due to his other jobs. So, that was my only minor issue I'd fair warn myself to temper expectations or clarify with him if I ever needed this service. When he arrived, it took him I'd challenge to say less than 3 minutes to pick the lock and unlock the keyed entry without any problems. He does know what he's doing and did it quickly. He was a nice service provider. My testimony review is an approved referral that I'd recommend Alex as a locksmith.

What I did not know is they contract out with other independent locksmiths--similar to Angie's List. My issue was not an emergency, and I informed the representative. When the locksmith arrived he went right to work with his drill and drilled through the lock in less than 2 minutes. Definitely something I could have done if I had a drill. He didn't even put a new lock in. When I asked him the price, he told me over $300. I was floored! He was there literally 5 minutes. I will never use this company again. Absolute rip off!!!

This guy seemed fine in the beginning. He came out to replace my key which he did. It has three…read morecomponents it should operate. The door locks, start the car and open the trunk. This new key did everything except open the trunk. Initially, I said ok let's see if I can work with this. Tony assured me he would guarantee his services and repair anything if I was not satisfied. I called him back and let him know I really needed that remote to open the trunk too. He said no problem he would order a new key and try to remedy the situation. I waited the first day after our conversation and he did not contact me, so I called him the next day. He said he would have the key the following day which was a Saturday. I called Saturday he had not received the new key so we set it for Monday. Monday nothing happened. So I call again Tuesday he said he would be out. He never shows so I called and at this point, he says he is just going to take back the key, give me my money back and give me back my old FOB. So once again I was going to be keyless. He said I could go to the dealer. Now I was very patient and kind with this man. This man expected me to accept mediocre, he did not care that I would be left without a key and he told me I could just go to the dealer if I didn't want to accept this key that did not open the trunk. It was obvious he did not wish to take the time to program another key and troubleshoot to make certain it would open the trunk. He treated me awful. He would not even try another key. When he arrived I asked why he could not or would not at least try to remedy the situation? He said he would have to run a diagnostic and that he did not wish to touch my car or be responsible. Now what that had to do with the key I don't know. He said that he would be losing money. He asked for his old receipt back, gave me my old key and my money back. I told him this was not good business. To not even try? He drives around in a brand new Mercedes Van and he obviously has big money and more important jobs than my little key. He was arrogant and so unprofessional. He obviously has made it big for himself and has forgotten where he has come from and how he got there. Me being a woman alone disabled and looking for someone to help me and him with a POMPOUS attitude, he just DID NOT CARE! Plus I am a Black Woman. I guarantee you he would not have done this to his own. Not ever. I even told him that this was not cool and he would not want someone to do his wife or daughter this way. So I am without a key and back on the search for someone who can come out and make me a key that is not at dealer prices. I would not ever recommend this man. He obviously does not need our little money because he quickly threw back my $200 cash so he would not have to remedy the problem as he had promised he would do, as he drove off in his brand new Mercedes Van leaving me stranded and keyless. He also did not keep his word. Not at all! I think we need to take back our neighborhoods and communities and open up more Black businesses that cover all sectors. I am not prejudiced but I do believe I was definitely discriminated against today because there was no reason for this. So I will be an advocate to push, promote and support black businesses in our communities. I try to be fair but I straight out witnessed some serious nonsense today! May he thrive and do well and may God bless him and his, but this man is not right. NOT RIGHT AT ALL!!

Thank you Mick and the staff at Manchester Lock & Security…read more My son lives in a family apartment unit where my 85 year old dad likes to do his own maintenance. The bedroom door lock was replaced with an ornate old lock/knob that came with a skeleton key. The door lock never worked. Last week my son called me saying that he had problems getting out of his bedroom. The door lock was getting stuck. I live in Westchester not too far from Manchester Lock & Security. I always go there to get keys made. Years ago they even fixed the key ignition switch on my car. I went in on a Friday and inquired about having someone come out to install a new door knob with a key. I was given a card with a number to their dispatcher to call to make a service call. I called and spoke with Ramon. He told me that he had an opening for the following Monday between 9 - 12. That Monday, I called to confirm my appointment. Mick arrived around 11:50am. I showed him what I needed to have done. Mick got right to it. He show me the closest doorknob lock set that would match. He started on the installation. He also put the door plates back on the door to hide the old knob hole. He cleaned up and was done within 50 minutes. My son and I are very happy with the new door knob/lock.
