We decided to take the family to J Alexander's. They had just opened the day before. We were struck by the amazing location across from the ballpark and the amazing atmosphere. Great decor. The service was absolutely wonderful. Our waitress said she was one their trainers. She was likely the best waitress I've ever had at a restaurant. The service was completely first rate. It was on par with establishments with twice the cost and two year reservation waits. We ordered the roast chicken, the Mexico City Queso, the Thai BBQ Redfish, the Ahi Tuna Filet, and several orders of the special roasted cabbage side. It was all delicious. The cabbage side needs to be an every night item. It was perfect. Perhaps the best cabbage dish I've ever tasted. It was sweet, tart, and very moist. The Redfish was my personal favorite. Paired with the cabbage and broccoli, it was well-balanced and simply delicious. You have to try this place. I know I'll be back. read more

This was one of the worst dinning experiences I've ever had. Service was terrible, food was cooked poorly and had to be returned (steak temperature was wrong). The prices they're charging ($$$$) for food you can get at a similar place with a similar experience is just outrageous. I was fully aware of the pricing going in and was willing to pay accordingly, however, this was not worth the money or the high ticket price associated with it. Extremely overrated. read more

The waitress (April) was great but the food wasn't all that. My husband steak was well done and he asked for it to be medium well. My friend's Nashville hot sandwich wasn't done. Our drinks were so good though. I would recommend for a happy hour or something like that. read more

Had a combo Birthday and anniversary dinner. 4 people 2 Prime Rib, 1 lasagna, 1 cheese burger, couple o drinks, coffee and desserts. Total for all $ 245. i thought the total was great for what we had. House salads were excellent. Prime Rib was excellent. Wife thought the Lasagna was great. Grandson thought burger was great. The drinks were great. They are in a large Martini glass, but that bring another small glass with ice with a small bottle of the rest of the drink. You actually have 2 drinks for the price of one. Desserts were amazing. Yes the meal was pricey, but it was great. Will definitely return . read more

Probably the best restaurant in Huntsville, for when you want to feel pampered and taken care of. Great food, great service and and drink selections. We've been about a dozen times since it opened. Mostly for date nights, when the grandparents are taking care of the kid(s). We really enjoy the elevated atmosphere and ambiance. When you enter the space you feel like you're transported to a different time and place. The entire menu is good , steaks , seafood, salads, sandwiches. We really enjoy the drinks and wine selection ... from twists on Classic cocktails to the best new vineyards. My personal favorite for lunch is the Cheeseburger, there's just something about how they build this perfect American classic standard. read more

Well, we usually love J. Alexander's but had a poor experience on our last visit. Long story short, our server couldn't care less. Pork chop was dry, broccoli was greasy and just bad. Our server never asked about the meal, didn't care enough to ask why my husband didn't eat his meal or ask if he would like something else. It was very disappointing. Went here for a work team meeting and have to say the cocktails, food and ambiance were so enjoyable! Our group ordered the deviled eggs, nachos and crispy calamari. For main entrees our group ordered everything from a burger, to sushi and an Asian ahi tuna salad and literally everything was so fresh and delicious! A nice casual restaurant. The service was great and the food was good. I had the New York Strip and my wife had the Prime Rib. Both tasted good, although mine was cooked a little more on the medium side vice medium-rare as I had ordered. I use to love coming here to sit at the bar, great drinks and service from my two favorite bartenders jaycie & Frankie. I heard they left, but I wanted to give it a try anyway and I was extremely disappointed. The drinks weren't good, bar service was slow, and the bartenders had no desire to fix my food when it came out wrong. Frankie and jaycie never would've let that fly. Everyone seems like they did not want to be there and the managers just stood by the kitchen the whole time on their phones, so doesn't seem like they cared about anyone's experience either. i've been to several steakhouses over the last two decades. Whereas I can say many of them had decent steaks and one had an amazing dessert here in Huntsville, North Alabama market there is no question as to the selection, taste, overall dining experience, flavors, steaks, desserts, starters and alcohol selection like J Alexander's. I've been here twice. The first time I got the steak tacos and they were very good. I also tried the Mahi Mahi and Mashed potatoes, the fish was good. The potatoes were bland and not warm. The second time the I got the ribeye and mashed potatoes. The ribeye was cooked great, but same issue with the potatoes. Cold and bland. The chicken caesar was good, lettuce was fresh and dressing was creamy. Service was good both times. read more

1st time there 8/30/23 - my wife ordered pecan encrusted trout and I ordered AHI Tuna - both were delicious. we had left overs and chef advised how to warm up at home. We were there late afternoon so not crowded. Ambiance was warm and inviting. We were greeted and treated with warm curtesy all throughout our visit. This was our first time here, but it won't be our last. It was difficult to decide what entrée to order, but we decided on the prime rib and the Steak Maui. Both were delicious. Luckily my hubby let me try his. Our server was very attentive and friendly. The ambiance was relaxing, with deep booths that helped to provide a sense of privacy. We had an early dinner at 5:00 reservation, since we were going to a concert at the VBC at seven, to make sure we had enough time to eat and get there. Both of us ordered the filet mignon and a loaded baked potato. We both wanted a salad so our waiter suggested we split a salad, which was great because each came out in their own bowls and we both got to choose our favorite salad dressing. We did order the Devil eggs as an appetizer and they were fantastic. Our fillets were cooked perfectly and seasoned very well. The atmosphere is very nice. Though the prices are a little on the pricey side definitely you get your moneys worth. This will be a great special anniversary place to go. We look forward to coming back there soon.
