Fisherman's platter

We ordered the crab and shrimp (colossal shrimp) boil. The crab was perfect; I could easily get all the meat out because the shells were cooked just right and cracked easily. The shrimp were a little overcooked -- curled like a C and a bit tough, but they still tasted good. The corn was cooked too long. The potatoes, however, were delicious. Our server SAN was excellent; she met every need we had with a big smile. The place has a hipster vibe with good music playing overhead. If you need to use the restroom, make sure to take your GPS with you--there are a lot of turns. The bathrooms were nice, clean, and stocked with plenty of soap and paper towels.

Soft Shell Crab Po'Boy with fries , Fried Calamari Basket with sweet potato fries, and cod Fish Po'Boy with fries.

Small quaint place but large on customer service and the food was very good! We got a soft shell po-boy, cod fish po-boy and calamari baskets with reg. Fries and sweet potato fries!!! Delicious!!!

"Adult" Capri suns are awesome! So was the food!

Food was outstanding, and I am a Louisiana Native. Friendly staff, and great atmosphere for my wife's birthday, all three of us loved this place.

We had our first visit last night. We were all very pleased. I had one of my favs, the fish and chips. It was very good. The fish was nice and flaky, not dry, and very crispy on the outside. The Cajun fries were very good as well. Wifey had the fried shrimp. 10 to an order, they were very good. My daughter had a boiler bag with crab, potatoes and corn. She said it was amazing and seasoned very well, and she eats this type of food once a week so I consider her an expert. Overall we were very happy with the food. We will definitely be heading back for more. The service was amazing, Mac took care of us and helped us through the new to us menu.

Do not get the fish and chips here. They are not good quality. Not seasoned well. Even the string cut fries are sub par. I wish the hubs would have gotten a Chick-fil-A sandwich to go instead and I don't even like waffle cut fries. Still CFL would have been light years better than this garbage.

Great experience overall; the service was fast, staff were attentive, and very friendly. The food was delicious, well balanced, flavorful, and just the right amount of spice. I love that you can pair it with either garlic butter noodles or rice. This birthday girl really enjoyed her meal and we will definitely be back the next time we're in Alabama!!!

First, I am a Cajun from New Orleans, so I was raised on seafood. I was excited to hear about a new seafood restaurant in North Alabama because we lack quality seafood in this region. So a group of us went to Cap't Loui's on Father's Day. Service - The service was very good and friendly. They took the time to explain the menu and various options. Location - It is located in front of Walmart in a small commercial strip building and can seat maybe 40 people. The chairs are hard metal so bring a cushion! Food - I ordered the fried shrimp basket. The shrimp were good, but some still had their tails on. The cajun fries were disappointing, frozen shoe-string-like fries with cajun seasoning. We had some small kids with us and unfortunately, they didn't have a kids menu so they split a chicken tender dinner. Price - My shrimp basket was about $20 with tax, gratuity, and a soft drink. Not bad, but the boil bags that you order by the pound are expensive. One pound of King Crab is $75!!!! I know inflation is out of control and Huntsville is 500 miles from the beach, but, come on man, $75 for 1 pound?

Service is great, we were giving drinks to go without even asking for them. Very thoughtful. Met the family for dinner on the deal for the month of October. We ordered an the sausage with our lobster. I was full by the time I left.

Seafood boil with crab legs and head off shrimp with Capt. Loui seasoning , medium.

When they brought me my crab it was still twitching and they wouldn't redo it. My children were disgusted and it ruined our night.

The food is really good. My wife and I especially love the noodles! You'll be a little messy, but it's worth all the napkins.

It was ok. Not the freshest but it was convenient. I would not recommend it if you are a seafood snob like me.

I think what kept me from five-starring Kamado on my previous visits was a little bit of a pet peeve that I had to just get over - traffic management. More of a problem at their Stovehouse location struggles with this more than the Mid-City location (which is larger). The Stovehouse location is tight quarters and seems to do a very healthy take-away business. Unfortunately l, for those who want to dine in, that means people waiting for their take-away orders are hovering in the walkways blocking the ability to refill drinks or even leave. I'm more than happy that Kamado does a healthy business, and the size of their location was probably based on the work opening day, but their food has caught on and gained a following. I still like the back alley Kyoto feel of the Stovehouse location, but we tend to gravitate to MidCity because of their ability to handle our large crew.

We were seated, handed menus and asked what we would like to drink quickly. Within 10 minutes the restaurant was full. I ordered Chicken Pho and Stir fried egg noodles with chicken and vegetables. My friend ordered an egg roll and shrimp fried rice. My chicken pho was prepared with glass noodles and it was delicious! The broth was flavored well and not too salty or too sweet. 5/5 The stir fried noodles with chicken and vegetables was delicious. The dish was prepared with egg noodles. 5/5 My friend said her egg roll and shrimp fried rice were delicious. 5/5 I was able to customize my dishes by choosing the noodles I wanted substituting glass noodles for rice stick in my pho and egg noodles for rice stick in my stir fried noodle dish. I like rice stick noodles but wanted different noodles this day. Please stop by and give this locally owned restaurant a try. The food is very good. 5/5

And I highly recommend them always), a chardonnary, lemongrass chicken, and chicken fried rice to go for the Hubs. First off, they now serve Sutter home wine in airplane plastic bottles. YUCK. Even their wine previously, which was poured from a bottle, was nargial but it was better than this, which was awful! Again the rolls were delish, as always! Thanks for that! The peanut dipping sauce was delicious also! So there's that. On to the main, the lemongrass chicken. It should have been called sauteed bell pepper and onions with white rice. The chicken was finely chopped for the most part and I left hungry. All this was 40.00 with a tip and again it was not the standard Viet Huong used to have with hearty meals that constantly made a nice leftover lunch for me. They have gotten stingy on their protein at least in the lemongrass. I noticed it last time I came here and chocked it up to being an off night. Well it's apparantly the new norn. This is one of mybdwarrst friend/Sorority Sister's favorite places to eat as she typically gets their Pho. I'll go back if I get to enjoy her company, I just don't plan to visit solo again. It's too expensive to get awful "wine" and skimpy proteins. The last next to me was another soko diner and complained about her (I think) vegan or vegetarian meal she called in advance about and then showed up and it wasn't available per her request. There was no manager working the floor and I didn't complain, and likely that's why I didn't see a manager. I do hope your experience at this long-standing locallwd owned and opened by a high school classmate is much better than my last two visits were.

Big Bowl Thai Cuisine - C.1 Green Curry

So this was my first time to the Big Bowl Thai, and my family have been regulars. I do have to say,…read morethe 1 star is only because the basil fried rice was pretty delicious. We were seating fairly quickly and when we got there it was just one other table, the waitress took out drink order and was really confusing about the diet coke (I am assuming they were out of the syrup but we asked for diet coke and she said yes then said coke so we were like no diet, and she said no, so we asked if she had diet and she said Coke) so we opted for unsweet tea. We placed our orders and my mom and sister received their food and then the waitress disappeared. Finally another woman came to the table and said the food was being prepared, but after 25 mins (my mom and sister finished their meals basically) my fried rice was brought out. Then not even two seconds after the other waitress brought the food, our original waitress came and took my sister's plate while she was still eating the banana roll. It was pretty awkward, no apologies, no nothing so idk if this is a normal occurrence or the first day for the waitress or if there was an issue but new tables came in and sat down and received their food all before mine came out. About 6 to go orders went out as well. I would've expected them to say something as an update but we were left in the dark. Overall i dint know if I would be back, the service was really bad, and i dint think that food makes up for the lack of service.

We were promptly seated and had our orders taken. We got chicken satay, gyoza, beef salad, pad thai, red curry and two sides of rice. Overall this is a good restaurant and we visit semi-regularly. I wouldnt say it is perfect though. Downsides for me: limited lunch menu (with smallish portions), hours change pretty regularly (they have a break between dinner and lunch), they stopped serving alcohol and most egregious: they don't have Coke Zero. But seriously, unlike most places they often dont ask you what spice level you want on a dish. My request for 'Thai Hot' resulted in a moderately spiced dish that required extra doses of chili flakes, which is sad. Prices are on the higher end for a Thai restaurant with a lot of add on fees (brown rice is a $2.00 upcharge, etc). Those small complaints aside, the food is good and the service is mostly very good. The restaurant is usually quiet and not super crowded. If you're in the mood for Thai I would definitely check them out!

The exterior alone is adorable! A traditional Japanese building with little figurines and even a large Totoro in the garden. It felt whimsical and nostalgic. I was seated right away and the staff were incredibly kind and attentive, checking in without being intrusive. The owner even stopped by each table to make sure everything was perfect but didn't linger too long. I started with the takoyaki, and it was one of the best I've ever had. Crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and the octopus was tender. The sauce and bonito flakes were just the right amount. For my entree, I ordered the curry chicken katsu lunch special, which comes with a soup or salad. I chose the miso soup since it was cold out and it was absolutely the right choice. The katsu was perfectly crispy and paired beautifully with the rich Japanese curry. I especially loved the big pieces of mushrooms and onions in the curry. Before heading out, I ordered a lychee green tea with boba and lychee jelly to go. The boba was perfect and didn't get tough sitting in the cold drink like some places. 10/10 would go back and would recommend to anyone who is looking for an authentic and fun Japanese restaurant.

Upon driving up to the restaurant, it looked like one of those traditional Japanese tea houses. It had Totoro outside with an umbrella, which fit the rainy day that was happening. Inside has a Studio Ghibli theme. Gentle piano music from the movies play in the background, and it has a homey, comforting feel to it. The server was so kind in helping me decide what to get because I haven't been in the area before. Looking at the prices, it was extremely reasonable, especially with the quality of food I got in return. After much consideration and asking for suggestions, I ended up getting the grape green tea, their black tonkotsu ramen, and their strawberry crepe cake. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time. The noodles were the perfect amount of richness and flavor. The noodles were bouncy, chewy, and the perfect compliment to the pork bone soup, which was salty and smooth. The green grape green tea was floral and a refreshing contrast to the hot soup and noodles. The strawberry crepe was a great finale to an already great meal! It had layers of rich creme in between each thin crepe layer. It created a symphony for the mouth as the texture and flavor was out of this world. My expectations were blown out of the water for sure. If I lived nearby, I would be a frequent visitor to this incredible establishment. They have earned their 5/5 star review.
