BEST SOUTHERN COOKING IN HAZEL GREEN!! This small place doesn't look like much but it packs a PUNCH! Service was quick and efficient and friendly. Today we had the Hamburger Steak, Country Fried Steak, mash/gravy, collards, fried okra, macncheese, green beans Everything came out piping hot! Steaks were as big as your hand with plenty of gravy. Best collards I've ever had. Fried Okra fresh and perfectly seasoned. Mac and cheese hot with large noodles that soaked up the creamy cheese. Everything perfectly seasoned. Dessert was apple and peach cobbler with ice cream. One word: Amazing. A must eat weekly place!

A tiny bowl of Mac n cheese for $4!!!!!?!?!

The atmosphere was nice but a little too warm in there. The restaurant was empty and me and my friend were the only ones in there. The prices on the menu I thought was a little tooo much but never been and wanted to try the food. I got the chicken fingers and fries for $8 and a side of Mac n cheese. The chicken fingers and fries tasted like jacks and the Mac n cheese is $4?!?!?!! For this size of a bowl. Maybe 6 bites and gone. The Mac n cheese tasted like great value with some sprinkle cheese to make it look cheesy. Overall it was ok. Overall my total was $16 for just this?!? Just a little ridiculous. Probably not coming back

Great hamburgers! My dad loves that the toppings are served on the side so the lettuce stays crisp.

It's set up like a ghost kitchen, with several different businesses operating out of the same space. It might seem a little different at first, but it's easy enough to navigate--and honestly, it adds to the experience. Now, the FOOD! Everything I've had from here so far has been amazing--cooked right, well-seasoned, and FULL of flavor. They have some of the best veggie meat you can find around town. Considering we're in Alabama, this might honestly be some of the best you can get in the entire state! I got the Jerk Chicken, and they do it RIGHT! Juicy, packed with flavor, and just the right amount of heat. Absolutely no complaints. I'll definitely be back... again!

Sorry because I really wanted to like it. Maybe I'll try something different. It's in the back of an abandoned building so there's no real decorations and you can't sit down. I spent years in New Orleans, and I don't throw this around lightly. This is the real deal. The…read moreclosest thing to true Cajun cooking you're going to find without actually being back in South Louisiana. If you've ever had authentic Cajun food, you'll recognize it immediately. No shortcuts, no watered-down versions. Just straight, legit flavor. The owners are from Metairie, right off the north side of Lake Pontchartrain, and it shows in everything they put out. They've got both cooked and live crawfish, which matters if you actually know what a proper boil looks like. I have zero connection to this place. Found it by accident. I'll be back regularly. Cajun food sits just behind Korean for me, and this hit that nerve hard. Took me straight back to Lafourche Parish and my stepmother's cooking. That kind of food sticks with you. And yeah, it's in a gas station. Ignore that. If you know anything about New Orleans, some of the best po'boys you'll ever eat come out of spots just like that. Bottom line. This place isn't a novelty. It's a find.

They were thick, juicy, perfectly fried, and honestly didn't need any dipping sauce or condiment at all. They're some of the best I've had. Minnie and I both ordered the whole catfish with mashed potatoes and fried green tomatoes. We absolutely demolished our plates. The catfish was delicious, and the mashed potatoes tasted genuinely homemade. The brown gravy was rich and flavorful and paired perfectly with them. My mom ordered the 4-vegetable plate with fried green tomatoes, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, and fried okra. She loved everything on her plate. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the restaurant was busy the entire time we were there. There was a steady stream of both dine-in customers and takeout orders, which tells you a lot about the place's reputation. My only complaint is the wait time. Food takes a while to come out, especially if you're ordering fried items, but they do warn you ahead of time. The quality makes it clear they're cooking to order, so if you decide to visit, just be prepared to be patient. If someone asked me where to take an out-of-town guest for authentic Southern cooking, G's Country Kitchen would be at the top of my list. The food is homemade, comforting, and exactly what people imagine when they think of classic Southern cuisine. Overall, the food was fantastic, the service was welcoming, and it's easy to see why G's Country Kitchen is a go-to spot for homestyle country cooking. We'll definitely be back.

In the absence of a website, we found a Facebook page and menus posted in Google which we referenced to make our dinner selections. When we called to order, we were told the items we requested were not being served on Saturdays and that daily specials were available shown on their Facebook page. We then selected items from their Facebook page and were advised only one portion of fish was available, and there was only one vegetable option, which was problematic since two of our diners were pescatarian. The pescatarians decided to share the fish and the other guests ordered the chicken and ribs. The fried catfish and chicken were delicious, fried perfectly and the ribs were also pretty good. The macaroni and cheese was mushy and wasn't very cheesy; however, the cole slaw, seasoned fries and roll were all tasty sides. Overall, the lack of selections at 6:30 pm on a Saturday night was disappointing; however, the staff was friendly and Niyah's may be worth a second try.
