The two girls at the counter were too busy talking negative about other employees in front of us and about whoever handles the social media accounts for the busy and how they're dissatisfied with their work to even care to help us. We had to interrupt their conversations twice just to ask questions and order and they would go back to their conversation. So unprofessional. Then the bathroom see the picture in this post. If you're charging this type of money for food change your toilet out.Toilets aren't that expensive. Y'all want us to support you but want to give us mediocre customer service,food and filthy facilities. I didn't realize until after we sat down that they had a 85 score I see why. I ordered the Lemon Pepper Baked Chicken, Collards, Cabbage & Hotwater Cornbread. The LP chicken was extremely salty, a little tough to be a baked leg quarter and almost unbearable to eat. Surprisingly, the cabbage & collards were bland or maybe I'd consume so much sodium with the chicken that I couldn't taste any seasoning in the vegetables. Shortly after eating my meal, my head begin to hurt and I begin feeling a little dizzy, which was indicative that my BP was elevated. I am never disappointed whenever my sister recommends a place! Sister came through! It was a line out the door but the wait was not too long. The place is a bit small but that did not deter me from wanting to try out a restaurant I have not been to. Everything on the line looked good. I chose the lemon pepper chicken and dressing. So glad I found this place yesterday! I was in the area with my son and I'll definitely be going back! The food exceeded all my expectations and was amazing ! It was tasty, seasoned just right, and online ordering was a breeze . I love a black owned business. I also like how it's connected to a bar and you can take your food and eat it there, a two in one. However on their soul food side...i don't know if it's because i'm from Florida that i'm used to seasoned flavorful food but id expect Alabama to have better southern food, its a stereotype of the state. The neck bones were dry, no flavor. The mashed potatoes were sour. The cabbage was amazing. Customer service amazing. I'm giving this joint 5stars because of one single reason-how they treated me. I'm just wrapping up a weekend in Huntsville, AL with my wife. My visit thus far has been ok, but sprinkled with some racist looks and definitely some unhappy and disappointed people at my interracial marriage. Us white folks don't exactly have the greatest reputation in this state, so I understand the human desire to hate and want to separate. However, these awesome ladies made a conscious decision to treat me exactly the same and I couldn't be more thankful. Yes the food is awesome, but right now I'm talking about something way deeper than flavors-I'm talking about showing love to others. I will be returning here if I come back to Huntsville. I had read somewhere this place had the best fried chicken in the Huntsville area, so I decided to give it a try. They did not disappoint. The staff was friendly. The fried chicken was fresh. It was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. It was seasoned perfectly. It did not need salt. It and the fried green tomatoes were literally just like my grandma used to make (and that is a compliment). I also got mashed potatoes. These were real potatoes (no instant here). They were excellent as well. One of my favorite items was the hot water cornbread. It was flat (about twice the thickness of a pancake) and about the size of an adult's palm. It was crispy, seasoned perfectly, and was an added bonus. It was a cold day and the heat was not working well, so a little knock on the atmosphere, but other than that, a perfect lunch! read more

Sac's is the REAL DEAL. I love soul food and try as many different soul restaurants as I can. I wish I'd prioritized visiting Sac's more, because I've been missing out. My mom declared it the best soul food/meat and two in Huntsville, and I gotta say, I agree with her. I came with my parents so we could have our weekly lunch together. You order at the counter, and an employee will make your plate from whatever you select at the hot bar, unless you order something fried, in which case it is cooked to order and you're asked to wait around 15 minutes. I love that fried options are made fresh. Sac's seems to do a bit of carry out, so keep that in mind if you're ordering ahead. At any rate, my parents both ordered hamburger steaks and mashed potatoes. My mom opted for green beans while my dad picked collard greens. I ordered fried chicken tenders with macaroni and cheese and yams. We all chose rolls, though I almost wish I'd gone for cornbread. I almost always prefer rolls, but the cornbread here looks more like a hoe cake, which is usually pretty darn good. Next time. The hamburger steaks were tender, falling apart, juicy, and covered with a rich gravy. The mashed potatoes were chunky, just how we liked them. The collards allegedly didn't quite live up to my grandma's, but my dad still loved them. I even gave them a shot, and I liked them pretty well -- I usually don't, but these collards still had a bit of snap to them, and a nice vinegar flavor. The green beans were AMAZING, exactly like homemade, with a lot of ham mixed in (as you do). Not too salty, not too mushy, just perfect. The rolls are store bought, but they're the good kind - very soft, pillowy, and a little sweet. My macaroni and cheese was creamy, soft without losing all texture, and gooey. The yams were absolutely wonderful, so sweet and cinnamony. My only problem with the whole experience was the chicken tenders. They're almost definitely delivered frozen and then fried, as the breading was totally uniform and they resembled the kind of tenders you'd get at the VBC or a stadium or something. They were fried well, though. We asked one of the employees and apparently you can ask for regular old fried chicken. I didn't see it on the menu, but it's available, and I'll definitely be asking for it in the future. Either that or I'll try the really juicy, delicious looking lemon pepper chicken I saw on the hot bar. Yum! I'm still giving 5 stars because the sides rocked our socks so much, and the hamburger steak was also delicious. Oh, and the sweet tea was quintessentially southern. :) The restaurant was clean and the service was pleasant and prompt. Can't wait to come back and try some new sides and entrees. read more

Unfortunately there isn't a page for their bar (Sacs bar and grill) but when I tell you the vibe, food and ambiance is amazing. The quaint inconspicuous space caters both to those who want to grab and go or those who have time to savor a good meal. To the right were maybe a half a dozen, plus a few tables covered in plastic red table cloths: the southern way. A paper napkin knife and fork duo complemented the vintage aura to the table. My Order: 3 golden fried delicious chicken wings with a side order of mashed potatoes and gravy, 3 golden fried fresh green tomatoes and two luscious sweet rolls. I love Soul Food! However, because of the calories I don't eat it often. I came home to AL for work as I don't live in AL anymore, and I was chatting with my uncle on places to try. He mentioned Sac's to me and said it was good, so I decided to try it for dinner. I was pretty pleased with their food. For the most part, I enjoyed their food and it definitely gave me " Sunday dinner at big mamas house" vibes! Lol! Kia was who was helping me and she was nice and accommodating. My only complaint as far as waiting for the food was that the wait was an hour. I tried to call and place an order for pick-up but they didn't answer the phone. I then decided to just drive to their location and place my order. I waited outside in my car for an hour. They did mess up one order, but they caught it in the restaurant and accommodated me and I didn't have to say a word. I did appreciate that! I picked up an order for myself and three other people. Between all of us we ordered Catfish Fillets, Pork Chop, Chicken and Dressing, Mac & Cheese, Fried Okra, Cabbage, Green Beans, Yams, Coleslaw, Hot Water Cornbread, and Red Velvet Cake. All of the food was delicious and seasoned well. However, the Catfish and Fried Okra were salty. They were both fried perfect but someone was a little heavy handed on the salt. My only other complaint was the Mac & Cheese. It wasn't really the style I like. It was a little more of a "runny" consistency than I prefer. I like thick and creamy, not lose and saucy. It was also a little bland in flavor. Other than certain items being salty and the Mac & Cheese, everything else was really good! The Cabbage, Green Beans, Slaw, and Yams were yummy! The Chicken and Dressing was very flavorful. The dressing was perfect and wasn't dry. The Pork Chop was also delicious. All of their fried items were fried to the perfect golden brown. Now their Hot Water Cornbread was amazing! I don't know what it was about it, but I kept going back for more. We had to save the best for last, Red Velvet Cake! It's my fav! Their cake is really good. It's moist, a vibrant red and taste like Red Velvet! It's topped with cream cheese frosting and pecans! The perfect combination! Overall, Sac's was pretty good! I'm new to town and have been trying to find a good soul food restaurant. I visited this place a few times and each time the customer service has been lacking. Today I received a not so friendly welcome from the fat black lady working the buffet, the latino looking male cashier and a short round black man so I left without ordering. Not sure what the issue was but I refuse to spend my money where I am mistreated. Here is my assessment of the food I have tried thus far: Mac & Cheese - excellent, Yams - excellent, Cabbage - okay, Fried Pork Chops - dry, very under seasoned and not tender, Oxtails - acceptable but too chewy, fatty and needs a bit more flavor, Baked Lemon Pepper Chicken & Dressing - chicken was pink and undercooked, dressing was very good. Do NOT order from their website. They don't have everything that they offer on there. I placed my order 45 minutes ahead of time, but I was there for 25 minutes because they hadn't even bothered to start on my order until I got there. I had to make a lot of substitutions and got a partial refund because they hadn't read the whole order and I didn't have time to wait another 10 minutes for them to fry the catfish I had ordered. I arrived and I was told it would be about 10 minutes. Okay. It was 35 minutes later before I got my order. I'd like to know what the point is for ever placing an order online. I was sent an email confirmation regarding my order and a note that said it would be ready at the appointed time that I chose. Not to mention, when I got out to my car, there were no fries! I had to go back in and WAIT, yet again, for fries because they were "cooking". Waiting for an extra 10 minutes for an order I should have been able to basically walk in and pick up is one thing....but waiting 35 minutes and then waiting again for the rest of my order is totally unacceptable.
