The Mac and cheese is something I'll think about for a long time. It was so creamy and flavorful! My tilapia was pretty good too. Some of the food was a bit too salty (pork chops and veggies). But I'd definitely try this spot again. I enjoyed the mule mixed drink too.

I really don't have anything negative to say besides WOW! I haven't had such good food in a while in Huntsville. Fish was HOT, Mac and cheese had flavor as well as my greens. Drinks were so good. Ambience is moody R&B, which I liked rather than the fast paced hip hop spots. It was so good I ordered extra fish to go I'll be back. Service was great and the server was really nice!

The fish, chicken wings, collard greens, and yams, were great. It is a nice place to go for Sunday brunch or to meet friends.

This was Southern hospitality at its finest, wrapped in incredible food and genuine warmth from the moment our Forest Service and Alabama A&M team walked through the door. The owner and staff were extremely kind, welcoming, and hospitable to our group, treating us less like customers and more like honored guests. The owner personally sat with our team, walking us through the menu item by item, sharing stories, and offering recommendations on his favorite dishes. That personal touch set the tone for the whole lunch and made the meal feel both special and deeply personal. The food itself was soul-satisfying in every way. The fried chicken was perfectly seasoned with a crispy exterior and juicy interior, the kind of dish that makes you pause after the first bite. The catfish was especially delicious as well, tender, flavorful, and cooked just right, embodying everything you hope for in classic country cooking. And the banana pudding was a standout, instantly transporting me to memories of dining in Savannah, with that rich, comforting, homemade taste you feel in your soul. From start to finish, everything about our visit to G's Country Kitchen was outstanding...the hospitality, the conversation, the food, and the feeling of being truly cared for. Many thanks to the owner and the entire staff for a great experience and a lunch that our Forest Service and Alabama A&M team will not soon forget.

On the negative side, there was only one toilet in each restaurant bathroom. And then I later discovered there are other bathrooms on the bar side, by the dartboards. So Anyway On to the food! And I'm glad we dined here tonight. My main platter was pulled pork with mac and sweet potato casserole sides, and I added an extra side of creamed spinach dip. I like how they have a number of special sides each day. They also have happy hour specials, and fun little story: my spinach dip rang up at full value instead of happy hour value, so they put in a different $5 dish (potato wedges) and made the note to spinach it. I got the spinach, and then 10 minutes later out came the potato wedges, in haste - "Oh no, we gave you the wrong dish!" And left it with me. Very nice of them! I'll say the only food I ordered that wasn't really me was the mac, a bit undercheesy and overbaked. (The accidental gifted potato wedges were not my style and the chicken was a bit dry.) The casserole was most excellent, with little crunchy corn flakes on top that you can push around to get one with each bite. The main pulled pork was good, not amazing but a very generous portion. There is only one sauce (maybe they'll give you white if you ask, but all the table sauces I saw were red), and it's a good one so I'm not complaining. You can add your own hot sauce to taste (Crystal, which is a quality brand at least). Saving the best for last, the creamed spinach dip was absolutely delicious with homemade chips to dip. That solidified my review at 4 stars for an entertaining evening.

It was a lot of confusion with ppl ordering, the place is kind of small so the counter was crowded. I patiently waited for over 2 hours for my food and never received it after I paid. I asked for a refund and thats when her true colors came out. She went off on me yelling, using a couple of curse words, just going off. I ordered two catfish dinners, macaroni and cheese, yams, okra, sweet potato fries, cornbread, and paid extra for fried green tomatoes. Each catfish dinner comes with (1) catfish filet, (2) sides, and (1) bread. The catfish is delicious. It was "Seasoned to the T" as the establishment advertises. The fried green tomatoes were crunchy on the outside and soft and fleshy on the inside. The cornbread was good humble buttermilk cornbread. Don't expect sweet cornbread. The fried okra was very tasty. Unfortunately, that where my food compliments end. The macaroni and cheese had more of a watery consistency. I'm a fan of thick macaroni and cheese. The yams were also watery nor could I taste any seasoning. The sweet potato fries were lukewarm. Next, the hospitality. I was very warmly received. She was not overly chatty (which I enjoy) but nowhere anywhere near disrespectful. Overall, I enjoyed her salt-of-the-earth approach to conversation. Lastly, the facility. It was extremely clean and full of comforting touches. It felt like walking into your home that you didn't know you already owned. It was very well lit and everything looked well maintained. Overall, I enjoyed my experience, save for those sides. I'm going to return to try other sides. Their demeanor and establishment's cleanliness are what has me willing to return to try again.

This! Place! Needs! More! Hype!…read more Okay, back to typing normally. Kar's Char is a relatively new Texas-style bbq place inside of Lowe Mill. It occupies the full restaurant space that used to belong to The Veggie and belonged to Happy Tummy before that. It's to the left of Piper and Leaf as you face P&L from the parking lot. I only belabor this point because some folks do have a hard time navigating Lowe Mill and no one should miss out on giving this place a try because they can't find it. I saw a few posts about Kar's Char when they first opened and have had them bookmarked since then. Recently, I was in the area after work around 2 PM and looking to kill some time before a doctor's appointment. I was feeling hungry and figured why not give them a go and enjoy a little time at the Mill while I waited. I arrived and took a few minutes to look at the menu. I am, admittedly, freakishly obnoxious and snobby about barbeque and was determined to have a positive experience, so I decided not to play with fire that day and instead decided to order one of their burgers, which I'd seen a few people rave about online. I selected their hatch green chili cheeseburger and placed an order for that. It comes with one side and I decided on macaroni and cheese. They have bottled drinks available next to the register and so I grabbed a water out of the cooler to round things out. My burger was cooked fresh just for me so I had a few minutes to hang around and take in the fun, nerdy, classic Lowe Mill ambiance. This is a truly local business and they seem very dedicated to supporting and uplifting their fellow businesses in and around the Mill. The service I received was incredibly kind and welcoming -- they really do seem like lovely folks here. My burger came out piping hot and cooked perfectly, with slightly crispy, charred edges and a juicy center. It was a delicious burger, slightly spicy but nothing scary, and I especially loved the chili lime aioli -- added a nice creaminess and moisture. To my pleasant surprise, the soft, lightly toasted bun held up to all the goodness pretty well! Next time I will probably ask for no pickles -- I found their flavor a little overwhelming -- but I am also hot and cold on my feelings about pickles so your mileage may vary! I say keep them on if you're a big fan, and take them off if not. :) The macaroni and cheese was enjoyable but not as good as the burger. Next time I come I will probably try out a different side. Overall, 4.5/5, with extra high marks for the hatch green chili burger and the charming, welcoming staff/owners. I'll be back to try the actual barbeque, and certainly to have another burger!
