Great date night spot, or a nice place to go for a girls night! Always get the carrot cake so keep room for the end!! The tuna stack is a must and their mash potato's are the yummiest!

Victoria provided excellent and friendly service. She was a delight and a huge plus for the restaurant. It's a nice, comfortable atmosphere. Not too tight not too loose. I had the prime rib and was able to get an end cut. It was delicious and the horseradish was very good. All in all I'd say it's a winner. Bring your wallet, but it won't bust it.

Two of my friends and I share September birthdays within a week and a half of each other. We started a tradition a few years ago of meeting up in September to celebrate. We decided to check out J. Alexander's as this was my first time. I made reservations and we were seated promptly upon arrival at 5:00 PM on Saturday. Our server Noel came by to check on us pretty quickly and gave us amazing service throughout our visit. We started with the onion rings. They were hot, crispy and delicious! Some of the best I've ever tasted. And I loved the dipping sauce. For dinner I ordered the steak (medium) n' fries but substituted fries for mac and cheese. The steak was cooked perfectly and the mac and cheese was unlike any I've ever tasted and I loved it! I could tell it had onions but unsure of the other ingredients. We were on the fence about dessert but we decided to order the chocolate lava cake. Our server Noel was so sweet she also brought us a slice of carrot cake which listed on the check was free marked as birthday;) The chocolate lava cake was rich and smooth and paired nicely with the vanilla ice cream. I normally do not eat carrot cake but after having one bite I went back for seconds, thirds and probably fourths;))) I look forward to my next visit when I can explore more of the menu. Thank you for making our birthday celebration special!

Night out with friends. Our waitress, Alexandra was fantastic as was the food. Started with pear Old Fashioned which was a tasty change from the classic. Apps were calamari and artichokes. Entrees were ahi tuna salad and crispy fish tacos. Restaurant was crowded but noise level was low. Can't wait to return

Went with family in the area for a birthday dinner. Sadly, I did not take pictures before digging in, so please excuse the one lonely picture. Started with the onion rings which were very crispy with a panko type coating. They were enough for 6 people as an appetizer. I had a house salad which was very large, and pretty good. 3 in our party had the prime rib. All said it was excellent. The horseradish sauce could have had more heat. I had the filet which was exceptional. Cooked perfectly. It came with a really large loaded potato which I didn't make it through. It was very good as well. We had no room for dessert. Service was on point and exceptionally friendly. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. I didn't get to see much of the restaurant as we were seated in a rounded corner booth but what I did see was very nice with good atmosphere. Definitely would go again especially to celebrate a special day.

Lunch here in a Sunday ! I had the smash burger it was perfect. The fries were delicious too. My husband had the chicken sandwich, also amazing.

Crispy chicken sandwich-very good.

Went for lunch the other day and it was really good. Our waiter was friendly and although I had to ask for a few things, he was very good at following up. My husband got the burger and said it was good. I got the crispy chicken sandwich. It was actually excellent. Very fresh, nice and hot and had a good flavor. Came with fries which are super thin, like shoestring fries. I really enjoyed them. The ambiance is modern and chic. Will definitely return.

Haven't been here in a while and glad I came back. Made reservations and was taken directly to seat and we arrive early. The waitress was very pleasant and her service was top notch. Didn't have to wait long for refills or for any extra items requested. The food was really good, in my opinion. The alcohol beverages were good I would've picked the regular lemon drop over the raspberry just my preference. The amaretto sour was really great wish it had the maraschino cherries and not the basic bright red cherries. The ribs were a little tough for my liking so I wouldn't order that again. The pasta was a special for the night. The shrimp and scallops were plentiful for the portion given it was very flavorful with a hint of spice. Noddles could've been boiled a little longer but would definitely order again. The crab cakes 10/10. The crabs was seasoned with love fresh and meaty no artificial meat btw. Loaded mash and broccoli with cheese was delicious as well. Most places are stingy with toppings that wasn't my experience. I'll be back sooner than later. Glad I came in.

I'm a little surprised by how the ambience is for the price and for an upscale place. I was expecting more like Capital Grille but I feel I'm on a Carnival Cruise or eating at Cheesecake Factory. Cocktails - I ordered French 75 and the drink was warm. They ran out of martini glasses so it was in a regular glass. Food - crab cake dip was good. Wish they gave more bread because bread to dip ratio was a little off.

We had been to this chain many times in Boca Raton but never to the Jacksonville location until tonight. We had a six thirty reservation and were seated pretty close to that time. The restaurant was pretty full at that time on a Friday night. The menu has plenty of appetizers, salads, sandwiches and entrees. They also had a few specials. We ordered pretty quickly but the food took a pretty long time to arrive. I had the French dip sandwich with shoestring fries. The fries were plentiful and tasty. The sandwich was a little cool in temperature. My husband had the swordfish special. It came with couscous and butternut squash. He loved his meal. My mother in law had the prime rib and also loved her meal. The ambiance is nice.

We walked in with a reservation, and were seated right away. The waitress was great and took our orders. They brought out our appetizers. We had the special smoked salmon dip and Tuna stack. Both were good. The salmon was very flavorful. The Tuna had a strong flavor but was still good. I ordered the Maui steak. The marinade was so good! Although my steak was medium instead of medium rare it was okay. Tim had to send his back as it was more like medium well. The best was medium. We also got dessert and they brought mine out with a candle and wished me a happy birthday. They forgot the other order for our friend.

Trout with lemon miso sauce and lump crab.

This is my goto place. I'm there at least once a week but I was so disappointed! I ordered the trout with lemon miso sauce and lump crab. It came out with no sauce and 1 small piece of crab. The waiter took it back and they added sauce and 4 tiny pieces of crab. Don't bother with this special because there was nothing special about it.

We went for our wedding anniversary lunch while our kids were in school. The food was absolutely delicious, the staff was friendly and the wait was not long at all. For being located within the town center, the place felt very upscale and perfect for such an occasion. The drinks were delicious as well. I had the seafood pasta and my husband ordered the prime rib with mashed potatoes. The portions were large and very filling. I really liked that they had little hook on the side of the booth for ladies purses and our to go bags. Unfortunately I only took pictures of my husband holding our baby at the table . But trust and believe when I say we will definitely be going back.

We were immediately impressed when we went in; lots of dark wood and a long bar with shelves and shelves of spirits. There were mostly bourbons and whiskeys. They even had a rolling ladder so bartenders could reach top-shelf bottles. We had about a 10 minute wait for a table on a Saturday for lunch. The time went by quickly and we were seated at a small wooden table. Our server, Erin, approached us quickly and took our drink orders. I ordered a Blue Moon and my husband had the WC Old-Fashioned. It was made with Evan Williams 1783 Bourbon and he said it was quite good. ($13). For food; I had the Rooster Royale which was a fried chicken sandwich with pickles and hot honey BBQ sauce. It was $16.50, and one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had! Even the bun was delicious! I'd planned on only eating half; but I ended up eating it all because it was so good. I also had the homemade chips which were yummy too. My husband had the Reuben which was $19. He said it was really tasty and full of meat. He commented that it didn't get "mushy" or fall apart. He had the crispy potatoes as his side and he raved about those too. We really enjoyed our meal at Whiskey Cake and would definitely return. The only drawback I can think of is that they don't seem to have very many healthy lo-cal options.

First I have to commend Christina, who was our server. A table of eight, she managed us with such grace, professionalism, and outstanding service! With a constant smile on her face, she asked us open questions and was very attentive. Not once did I have to ask for an iced tea refill because she was staying on top of it! The menu, though short with options did have a creative variety. We all tried the cinnamon roll, which I have to say was beyond, and I do mean beyond outstanding. In fact, it was the best cinnamon roll I have ever had with the toasted pecans and the sauce. WOW!! I ended up with the pancakes and eggs, and the eggs were cooked perfectly! The pancakes were were thick and had good flavor. It was a little overcooked for what I prefer, but overall, it was very good. Looking at the other options of what friends were having the food looked amazing. I am not a bacon eater, but one of our table mates had a bacon dish that she said was phenomenal. I will definitely be back

Great use of earth tone of green and brown along with wood floors and walls. There is every type of seating booths, tables both small and large. There is no soda served here, just their own drink blends along with alcohol drinks. We had water and decided to try their drinks another time. Everything is fresh, locally sourced and delicious. I had the jambalaya pasta and it was really good. Slightly spicy, the shrimp and chicken cooked to perfection and the "holy trinity " hit just right. My wife ordered the farmer's scramble off of the brunch menu and it was amazing as well. The true star of our meal may have been the sweet potato chips. Just the perfect crunch, the exact right amount of salty and sweet...fantastic. The fries were solid, the sauce was unique, tangy and a great accompaniment. Our lemon blueberry muffin was just a bit dry. Average in a meal that was otherwise stellar. Because they use such fresh ingredients and cook it in ways that are a bit more healthy, I left feeling full but not overly stuffed or bad. We then received a pretzel bread roll. This pretzel roll was incredibly good! It was crispy and airy, which is different than other rolls in a good way! I then ordered the Gnocchi Alla Vodka. Vodka sauce is my favorite type of sauce and Cooper's Hawk's vodka sauce did not disappoint! The dish was delicious and it had plenty of Italian sausage in it. The medallions were prepared to a perfect medium rare with very good flavor, and the toppings do not take away from the flavor of the meat. Of the three toppings available for the medallions the blue cheese is unremarkable and has a tendency to overpower the good flavor of the medallion. The service was great, and I enjoyed the comfortable atmosphere. At $50.00 this meal is a little underwhelming. However, it is not bad.
