Donkatsu with curry in front and donkatsu with udon in back
Veronica K.

These are solid katsu dishes for relatively cheap. There will be a wait for your food, but I wouldn't call it excessive. You'll only wait about as long as you would in a sit-down restaurant, perhaps 15 minutes or so. The portions are huge and each main dish comes with a few sides. I've tried all the meats available - pork, chicken and fish. All are very tasty, but in my opinion the pork is the best cutlet having the most flavor and the best texture. I always get the curry entree, and it's often enough food for two meals. It's just as good as any food you would get in a regular restaurant, so if you're craving fried food I highly suggest trying this place out.

Highly recommend! Best " udon & chicken, pork fish katsu combo" spot on Assi food Plaza. The place is so clean. The food was flavorful, fresh, and large in quantity. Will be coming back!

Beef ramen

We've been on a bit of a Ramen kick lately and noticed Izumi was local, so we decided to check it out. They're tucked in the back of the marketplace, and something to note- we're usually used to Japanese ramen, and I think the style of this ramen was Korean, so there were some differences from what we'd expected. We went on a weekday so it wasn't too crowded, but once we placed our order we probably still waited at least 10 minutes before our buzzer went off indicating that our food was ready. The dumplings were pretty good, and actually more plentiful than what is normally given, in our experiences. The ramen itself though was a little bit different. We both went with the beef- I was planning to give my boyfriend my chunk of beef that is in the ramen so that I can enjoy a vegetarian style noodle. Normally, this isn't too difficult. However, there were so many tiny pieces of the beef cooked and within the broth, making it difficult for me to avoid it. The portion was pretty big overall, and the green onions were a nice touch. Overall flavor of the broth and ramen was alright. The marketplace itself is nice, but we likely won't be back for the ramen.

Overall I love the food court in assi plaza, but Izumi is, in my opinion, the best restaurant in the court in terms of its quality, price, and their friendliness. I've always gotten the beef teriyaki with white rice and would recommend it as a good, cheap dish from them.

Chicken katsu with curry

This gem is tucked away inside Assi Plaza, an international/Asian grocery store with a small food court. Izumi has great food, but the wait can be a little bit taxing, so make sure you aren't in a rush! I got the chicken katsu and ordered it with a side of curry for an extra dollar. The chicken cutlet was SO crispy and tender, and combined with the flavorful sauce and curry it was paired with turned out to be surprisingly tasty. I had low expectations for a small hole in the wall Asian restaurant but I was happily proven wrong! Aside from the rather long wait everything was exceptional! Thank you Izumi!

IZUMI is worth a try great flavors and friendly fast service. Came here after our shopping trip at Assi since it is inside the location and the food smelled good we had to try it out. Ordered: #6 Tempura shrimp Udon; Great flavor and the shrimp was crunchy. #5 Beef Udon: Good flavor and the beef wasn't sliced too thin. Overall experience was good our meals where nice and hot, friendly fast service and enough seating in the restaurants area since it seems like a little strip mall fast food area.

Delicious! Located inside a supermarket at Assi plaza. All of their food is amazing. They are always swamped on the weekend during lunch. If you live in the area and never been, it is totally worth trying it!

Niku udon

I've had a couple of dishes here and have always enjoyed them. Service is quick and prices are reasonable. This time I had the niku udon, which is a simple udon noodle soup with thinly sliced beef and onions. Good flavor, not too salty, decent sized portion. Had the gyudon one other time which was egg, beef, onion, and sauce over a white rice. A similar overall flavor but was also really good. A quick meal before shopping sets you up for a good day... and prevents too many impulse purchases when shopping on an empty stomach!

I ordered the Akamaru Modern Ramen, the BBQ short rib plate, and the mango shaved ice everything was absolutely delicious. The short ribs were incredibly tender and flavorful, paired perfectly with rice and their macaroni salad, which is surprisingly SO good because I normally don't even like macaroni salad from restaurants. The ramen was rich, comforting, and full of flavor as always. The mango shaved ice was refreshing and came topped with popping mango pearls and mochi, which made it even better. The ambiance is nice bright and decorative. Clean. The service is always great, and Jimmy always remembers me and is so welcoming every time I come in. The ladies in the front are pleasant and everyone teams up to ensure you have a pleasant dining experience. Everybody I've brought here ends up loving this place too. My total was about $55, and since I paid cash, I even got a little discount, which was a nice bonus. Definitely one of my favorite spots! If you go, I hope you enjoy it like I do.

They tasted just as good, if not better, the next day because my partner brought home leftovers. Definitely a good experience.

That is what you get when you get great eats at Terakawa Ramen. As you enter, you'll notice the wall murals with the chefs on one side and the opposite wall has anime customers slurping their ramen. Yes, it's perfectly fine to make those loud slurping noises to show your appreciation for a great bowl of ramen. Here's what was ordered: - Signature Terakawa Ramen - 4.5/5 stars Boasted of rich, lovingly homemade pork bone soup with a good amount of sliced roast pork, bamboo shoots, mushrooms, ginger, scallions, and a jammy egg. The straight thin noodles were al dente. They maintained their texture in the broth, brilliantly. The broth was deep and flavorful. - Pork belly Donburi - 4.5/5 stars The juicy tender pork belly was plentiful, sliced perfectly as their we're not too thick nor paper thin. Their flavor was rich, savory with a balance of sweetness from the soy dashi sauce. Elegantly layered in top of a humongous bowl of seasoned rice, along with a sprinkle of scallions, pickled radishes, and sesame seeds. The photo on their menu does not do it justice. I would have loved a jammy egg to be included to bring the dish to the next level. - Gyoza - 3.5/5 stars 5 pieces of Pan-fried gyoza dumplings with their dumpling sauce. I would prefer them to have been fried a bit more. The balance between their pork and cabbage was even. They were delightfully light in both taste and texture. The service was very good. Both Willie, the owner, and a charming waiter named Sung served us. Sung kept coming over checking in to attest our cups were full, and if we needed anything else. I was told the have two locations: Philadelphia and the one we're dining at, Princeton Junction, NJ. Both locations serve homemade recipes from the Kumamoto region of Japan. If ramen is your love language, this place will absolutely speak to your soul.
