Costa Vida has been one of my favourite chains in Calgary. I have not had any issues with food…read morequality, or service. The eating area is usually clean, though it is one of those restaurants that you clear your tray after your done. One thing that I have noticed "Mexican food" chains all seem to offer chips & Salsa/ Queso / Guacamole, Costa Vida are pretty good with enough Salsa to go with the chips. You are pretty much guaranteed to have a fresh tortilla when you order your meal, and as you wait you can watch staff press and make as they are needed, or when you order. Lots of "fresh" offerings, as you can see everything in front of you. Though sometimes you will see that items have been sitting in the heating area for some time. I have mainly seen this late afternoons early evenings. The salsas are extremely tasty, though they have been "Canadianized" so not too spicy. Meats are good, kids menus are varied for all types of kids wants. They also offer Mexican drinks which are pretty tasty, a nice change from the usual soft drink options. Now, I am going to say one complaint about this particular restaurant on the day of my visit. I applaud the cleaning of any restaurant, I do question cleaning out the refuse area trash containers with soapy water during opening hours, and pulling out the cooking area and having someone wiping down the venting while food prep is still going on. Not to sure if this is policy, but maybe can be done after hours. I have been here pre COVID, this was the first time I have ever seen this.

Saw a sign on Midlake Boulevard announcing this place was "now open." Took my starving college grad…read moreneighbour to lunch. She's a fan of Greek, I'm not so much, but I am now. Man at the counter who I presume is the owner was very friendly. Service was reasonably fast given the food is cooked fresh. The vibe was a little hard to pin down - the food is served on plates at comfy booths, but lots of orders seemed to be walking out the door as take out. So I guess it qualifies as fast food, but you have to wait a bit longer and you will notice a higher quality to what you're getting. I had a beef pita wrap and fries, my companion had a chicken wrap and Greek salad. The food was excellent. Beef was well cooked, tender and tasty. The fries had a unique blend of seasoning (at least, unique to me) and was not overdone. Naturally there was a strong garlic flavour to everything. I could not think of any way to improve the quality of the food which tasted good and was well presented. The restaurant is tastefully decorated with colour photos of Greece (I presume the owner's collection) and some homey nicknacks on shelves, tastefully arranged. And some Greek posters and a road sign or two. Prices were fine. I forget how much a bottle of pop retails for these days, but subtracting that gets you a decent meal for a reasonable price - $15 for good sized wrap, fresh thick pita and toppings, with a side. My companion couldn't finish the salad and took some home. We both left full and happy. I rarely give five stars, but if I can't think of any way to have improved the experience, I have no choice. Such is the case here.

The man was so kind to everyone, and took his time explaining the dishes. My husband said we would be back. We had the platter for two. There was so much food we couldn't finish it all. So good. Thanks for the wonderful lunch OG!
