We have bought trees from Ivy's many times in the last decade. Now they show no Christmas cheer or customer focus. Our kids went in advance to choose a tree and told the staff that their parents would not be til 6 to pay for the tree. We got there at 6.02, too bad so sad. Kids were asked to leave at 6. Done with paying for over priced trees in what is just a money grab. Found great trees further up Roscoe street, better value for money, plenty of Christmas cheer and open til at least 6 pm on the busiest weekend for Christmas trees. read more

Great service and perfect Fraser Christmas trees! I wanted a full-bodied tree, all the way up to the top, and was assisted by the crew to find one. It took two minutes to select our tree, because each tree was just so full and perfect. I have had Costco, Menard's, and Home Depot trees in the past (in Chicago), and wanted to buy one from an independent vendor this year. We were in the Lakeview area over Thanksgiving weekend, and luckily sauntered by Ivy's. 9' trees : $279 (will try a 9' or 10' tree next year). 8' trees: $200 They are offering curb-side delivery. On site, you can drive up through the alley (near private driveways) and wait to have the crew wrap and tie the tree to your car. It took the man less than 2 minutes to wrap and tie the 8' tree. My tree is cute but way overpriced compared to other trees of equal quality I have gotten in the past from other places. The staff was friendly enough but it was a total bait and switch. I was told that I'd get a discount if I paid cash, so I did, and not only did I not get a discount, I was charged a $5 "baling fee" that was not mentioned at all when I was looking at the trees. I wish I had read more of the reviews before coming here because I see that the "discount for cash" and hidden fees are common. Saving on credit card fees and getting a discount for cash are not the same thing. A discount implies a reduction from the listed price. read more

I've shopped around at different Christmas tree lots in Chicago and Ivy's consistently has the nicest Frasers - significantly nicer - of every place I've been. Service is great, they tie up the tree for you and help load in or on your car. There's a small parking area they've marked off since parking can be difficult in the area, so we've never had an issue with parking or loading. Every tree they have is high quality, as opposed to other lots where you have to walk around and search for a hidden gem. They're consistently priced, tagged and separated by size so it's easy to find what you're looking for. They only have Frasers so as long as that's what you're looking for, don't waste your time at other places. read more

They are so nice and it has been I think 8-9 years now. They wrap it, put it on my car and tie it down and it is gorgeous. This was my first experience buying a real tree however my roommate has bought them before. We both stumbled over here due to other great reviews. This place was great! The workers greeted us upon arrival and we even met the owner IVY! The trees are not prickly, they're soft and SMELL AMAZING. They take credit and cash but there is an ATM on site if you need it. We've bought our Christmas tree from Ivy's the past 3 years. The trees are healthy, full, and smell like heaven. The staff is very helpful - we've never had to take more than 3 steps into the lot before someone asks to help us fine a tree. Yes, it's a little pricey and yes Ivy does push the cash over credit payment option quite a bit, but I understand - it's a small business and they want to avoid fees wherever possible. And for us, we can't put a price on the convenience of walking half a block to get our tree, so we're willing to pay a bit more. I do wish they would shake out the trees, as there's always leaves and loose branches that I have to pick out once we get it home, but overall this is a great, convenient, and well-run Christmas tree stop! read more

This is the second year that we've hit up Ivy's tree lot and they again helped us get the perfect Christmas tree. Highlights of Ivy's include: 1. They only carry Frazier Furs trees which are the best and Ivy's selection of trees is great. No sad, beat up and bare trees. 2. Ivy and all the employees are always super friendly and helpful. Plus they deliver! We did know this and did not use, but good to know if you don't want to wrestle with the tree on your own. Other goods things to know if you hit up Ivy's include: - They are cash only so be sure to hit the ATM before you go. We forgot and had to go find an ATM ; while we were doing that her worker went ahead trimmed up the tree for us. - They do have some parking but it is nutty when full tree shopping season is in swing. This was our first year at Ivy's. My husband and I normally venture out of the city to chop down our own tree but our normal farm closed down. The guys who work here are SO friendly. I told them the size we wanted and they walked us over to the area. I'm terrible at making decisions but they happily spun multiple trees around for me and didn't make a peep when I took one of the first trees they originally pulled. I recommend coming here closer to Thanksgiving if you're interested in a smaller tree. They were sold out of 5' trees by the time we go there so we ended up with a 6' tree. There is a discount when paying cash which I wish I was aware of ahead of time. My husband's eyes nearly bugged out of his head at the price. However, once we got home and set it up and almost NO needles fell out while putting in the stand or while I added the lights, we realized the quality of the tree justified the price. We had it up for four weeks and the needle retention was unreal compared to previous trees we've purchased. Friends of ours also purchased from Ivy's. We were at their place for New Years and their tree still looked beautiful. So, even though the price is higher then the trees you can grab at Home Depot or similar stores, I don't think the quality of Ivy's can be matched. read more

Ivy is so sweet! It's our first time getting a real Christmas tree and everywhere I looked was sold out as far as online orders went. Ivy's Facebook page accepted orders so that's the route I went. The day after I placed the order I got a phone call to make sure we actually wanted the tree because we were the first online order. It was great to hear about all the pricing and everything from Ivy herself. She is so hands-on! Ivy takes the time to explain how to properly set up and water the tree. Bought my first ever real Christmas tree from Ivy's! A cute little tabletop sized tree. After a few days I noticed a lot of the needles were falling off. I contacted Ivy telling her of my hesitations with picking the wrong tree. She told me to bring it in and she would exchange it. I stopped by last night where I was treated like family. They cut the top part of a 15 year old Xmas tree for me since they said it would hold up better. They also gave me a free bottle of Miracle Gro to mix with the water for the base of the tree. My wife and I love our tree, it's beautiful, and the experience was nice except for the below pricing miscommunication issue that really made us feel like we got suckered for an extra $20 or so. We came the second day after Ivy's was open for business. We decided on a 6' tree which I believe was priced at $79.99 on site. We ended up buying an 8' tree stand at the recommendation of the proprietors who said even though our tree was 6' it had a wide enough trunk for the 8' stand and that would allow us to feed it more water. That all made sense and we were happy with those decisions. The 8' stand is advertised for $18.99 on their website (http://www.ivyschristmastrees.com/). We were told that there was a decent discount for paying in cash. (This is also advertised in large capital underlined letters on their e-mail advertisements). So, we went to ATM at the corner and got cash, and came back. When it came time to pay, we confirmed all of the above with the woman checking us out (also the proprietor, I think): 6' tree, 8' stand, paying with cash. I expected the bill to be around $100 (assuming discount was going to be roughly equal to no sales tax). Instead, we were charged $120. To be fair, I did not push back. I did not question the itemization and remind her we were told there would be a discount. My wife and I were feeling very excited about getting back home with our tree and I decided to let it go. That said, I shouldn't have had to push back, I should have been offered a receipt (which I wasn't). Ultimately, we're happy with our tree, but suspicious that Ivy's suckered us. read more
