This business could really be rocking it: Their trees are gorgeous and very reasonably priced (I've never paid more than $65 for a 6' Fraser), and they deliver and set up for free -- which is key for me as a solo parent. However, their lack of organization is going to kill their business. They pop up in a different location each year (this year they are 3/4 way down the alley by the Montrose Brown Line stop and behind a building, hidden from view... darned near impossible to find -- put up some signs!), they are not open when they say they will be, and this year the guy running the lot didn't even have the trees unpacked. It's a mess back there -- all kinds of debris from the business that owns the lot, and I was afraid my son might cut himself on the huge hunks of metal debris lying around. The only reason I purchased from them for a 3rd consecutive year is their free delivery and set-up. But without organization and true attention to customers -- for example, make it easy to find you, be open when your website says you are open, set up and make your lot reasonably attractive so people want to shop there, and make it easy to use a credit card, and have firm delivery times to quote to your customers -- are going to make this business crash and burn. Families organize their days after Thanksgiving around the Christmas tree purchase experience -- like me, parents bring their kids because it's an annual ritual. This year, my son and I couldn't wait to get out of the messy lot, and I left the lot having to call the owner (who was not on site) just to be 100 percent sure that my tree was in fact scheduled for delivery and to get a specific time frame. He's a really nice guy, but nice alone doesn't cut it. I'm already investigating where to get our tree next year so that the experience is organized and easy. read more
