I got my braces off four years ago and promised Dr. Lee that I would write a review about him, but…read moreonly if he put the photo of us that we took on the day I got my braces off on his wall of his clients. I'm not sure if he's done that yet, however, my sister is getting braces now and I was reminded that I owe him a review. I came in with a huge overbite, overcrowded teeth, and unbelievably crooked teeth that I thought would be impossible to fix. Dr. Lee told me that I had to pull out 2 top teeth and 2 bottom teeth and that was the best thing an orthodontist could have ever suggested me to do. Because I pulled out a couple of teeth, my jaw line is so much nicer and my teeth don't look overcrowded anymore. I was never a fan of gum, but somehow when I had braces, I craved gum. I also wanted to eat stuff I wasn't supposed to eat, like hard candy, chips, and drink soda. One day I ate a Cheeto and my wires snapped off. I was so scared to see Dr. Lee. He's very strict and makes sure you take care of your braces. He only does this because he cares and wants your teeth to look the best it can when you remove your braces. Oh, and I would like to add that even though he gets really busy sometimes, he always gets to you in a timely manner. His assistants are super nice too! I can not thank Dr. Lee enough for doing an amazing job on restructuring my teeth, jawline, and overall face shape. If you need braces, he is the man to go to. Trust me.

Recently found out that Warren Lee opened a new location in Cupertino closer to me than their…read moreoriginal Fremont spot where I went for about 2 years to get orthodontic work done when I was in high school. It's been about 8 years since I last had braces so as you can imagine my retainers are out of whack and way too old. My teeth had slightly shifted (only the top) so I decided to go back to him to get a new set of retainers so I could continue to value my $5000+ spent for orthodontic work. I made an appointment with his wife (who runs the front desk) and came in on a Friday. Despite his friendliness in greeting me and asking me how things have been and treating me like an old friend, I felt like he had an agenda. This agenda became obvious when I explained to him why I was there. I thought that I could just get them to mold another set of clear retainers from my old teeth molds and go from there. However, he immediately sat me in the chair and starting to look at my teeth and told me he wanted to do this this and this before he even clarified whether or not my insurance would cover this work or WHAT exactly he was doing. This annoyed me since the entire 20 minute session while he was in the room, he kept telling me not to worry about it that he will give me what I need for retainers when I kept asking him what it was and he kept changing his story. Finally, I got his wife to come in and talk to me about my options and what they were recommending. It turns out, I didn't need a set for the bottom because my bottom teeth have no shifted, but my top teeth have so instead of a passive retainer, they recommend an active one. This was information I had to pull and pry out of them because they wanted to give me a set of active retainers which would have cost me around $500+ even after insurance. I was very displeased that they essentially tried to work me over. I ended up spending $160 for a top teeth retainer. Went back to pick it up today and again, I felt they were now unfriendly knowing that I didn't spend the ENTIRE amount of money they wanted me to spend so they just fitted me for the retainers and sent me on my way. What a pain.

I had two lower wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Lee, about 1 week apart. I highly recommend Dr. Lee…read more Here's the rundown: For lower wisdom teeth extraction, there is always the risk of nerve damage. Dr. Lee has a lot of experience when it comes to evaluating this risk, and he uses surgical techniques to avoid nerve damage. That is the #1 reason why I recommend Dr. Lee for lower wisdom teeth removal. Typically, your dentist will x-ray the tooth, evaluate it, and refer you to Dr. Lee. Ask your dentist to email the x-ray to Dr. Lee. For both of my wisdom teeth, the dentist x-ray was sufficient; Dr. Lee did not need to take additional pano x-rays to evaluate the situation. Very convenient, and it avoids radiation. If your wisdom tooth is an "easy extraction" and not impacted, go for local anesthesia (Novocaine) instead of IV sedation. Dr Lee is great at injecting Novocaine and NOT hitting a nerve. During the extraction, you will not feel pain; you only feel pressure. You can drive yourself to/from the clinic, and there are fewer limitations on eating/drinking beforehand. It's also cheaper than IV sedation. During the extraction, for the lower wisdom teeth, they may use a hammer and chisel to crack the tooth into pieces before pulling out the roots; that is a little unnerving, but not a big deal. Dr Lee is fast; he extracted each tooth in about 7 minutes. Dr. Lee has an assistant in the operating room who is highly skilled; that person does quite a bit of the work (the aforementioned hammer/chisel). It is freezing cold in the operating room. Wear thick pants and a long sleeve shirt. They have a blood pressure cuff constantly checking your blood pressure, so avoid thick fleece/sweaters. For lower wisdom teeth, you'll need to irrigate the socket after eating, for up to 6 weeks; not a big deal, just be aware of it.

What I was first impressed with was how much time Dr. Sunwoo spent during the consultation explaining directly to my daughter what was going on, details about the treatment, and end goal. This eased a lot of my daughter's anxiety as she was able to ask him questions directly. (Typically doctors speak to parents only and the child is sitting there panicking about what they can piece together ). We have quickly seen results with the correction of her cross bite too. Not done, but it's helpful to see progress! If you're a busy household like ours, extra stars for always being on time with appointments! We rarely have to wait more than a couple of minutes before she goes in.

Our dentist had recommended him and my sister was his patient when she was a teenager. Dr. Lee was nothing short of wonderful. He was always pleasant to be around and greeted everyone who walked into the office. His staff was attentive and showed a lot of care during all of our appointments. I don't know if they still do raffles at the office but during the 3 years my daughter had treatment they did. She won movie tickets one time. Towards the end of my daughter's treatment Dr. Sunwoo was in the process of taking over for Dr. Lee. We had the pleasure of having him oversee the last couple of appointments my daughter had. He was very personable and kind. Dr. Lee has since retired but left the practice he started in good hands. I recommend Dr. Sunwoo to friends and family.
