I really want to give them a great review but after two nights (back to back) where we've waited at our table for, I'm not kidding, 18 minutes with zero staff interaction, I just can't. The food is great and the servers are trying I think but it takes for flipping ever to get anyone to acknowledge you and then the "service" gets even slower. Two nights in a row we've ordered bread pudding and had to have it taken off the bill the first night because it never arrived and then had to go to the bar to ask for it (and the check) because it hadn't arrived. It was my last night in Dublin and I was leaving for the states in a few hours and I wanted to try one more beer before I left, so I made way down to the Iveagh Bar, which happens to be inside The Ashling Hotel. The Iveagh bar is very warm and inviting, lots of comfy couches to sit on, I wouldn't say this would be a bar to goto if you were looking for a fun night out on the town, but it was perfect for the last stop of the night kind of place. Again unsure of what I wanted, I asked a few questions and was able to sample some beers, I settled on O'Haras, I tend to light the lighter of the ales, at least that's what I am taking from my beer journy in Dublin. So I ordered a glass of O'Hara's and then after a few sips I got to thinking this beer is missing a burger, I ordered up a burger with some chunky fries, I have to say that the burger though perfect for that moment, was not one of the best burgers I have had, but the chunky fries, oh my, those are just great! Couldn't get enough. Half way through my burger I noticed I needed another beer lol so I ordered one and guess what, they must have thought this chick isn't playing around, my 2nd glass of beer was 2 times bigger than the 1st, which was alright with me. If staying at The Ashling and looking for a low key kind of place, this is the spot for you! read more

The food and non-alcoholic drinks here were always tasty. The only real issue I had was the pricing. But then again, it's a hotel and therefore one expects to typically pay a premium for anything extra. It is a great place to people watch (if you're in to). Lots of people walking to and from Heuston Station, joggers, dog walkers and lawyers/fancily dressed people walking to and from the courthouse a block down the street. read more

The service is a bit slow. We experienced several different servers during our dinner experience yet not one could seem to expedite ...well ... anything. Having said that we did enjoy our meal. It being our last night in Ireland we both decided to go for Fish and Chips. The fish was excellent. The chips were very chunky (it did say this on the menu) but there was far to much potato "meat" verses the crispy outside. Just my personal preferences as others definitely enjoyed the chips. The Guinness was enjoyed by all except me ... I went for the ginger ale ... The one desert on the menu that was decided upon was Bread and Butter Pudding. I was asked by another person if I'd split it with them ... once I took my first bite I immediately regretted that decision. It was out of this world delicious. Best Bread Pudding I ever tasted. Served with a butterscotch sauce. Rich, creamy and completely decadent. All in all a good experience as previously stated the service was slow but they were all friendly. read more

Came here after our arrival to Dublin from the states. We were quite tired so decided to stay in for a light lunch and then dinner as well. We both ordered the soup of the day (Mediterranean tomato) and it was just what we needed! The bread it came with was also fantastic. For dinner I ordered the burger and my husband ordered the lamb shank. The burger was great, unfortunately too cooked for me but that is just my personal preference and note you are unable to choose how you want it cooked. The chips were very large, greasy, and tasted good. The lamb shank fell off the bone, it was rich and melted in your mouth. Wait staff were attentive and friendly, always assisting us with whatever we needed in a timely manner. Is it anything crazy special? No, but it definitely hit the spot after a long flight and jet lag. read more

Order at your own risk. After a great dinner at Nancy Hands, we decided to have dessert here. Ordered Black Forest Gateau. After a 15 minute wait, we were advised they were out. No worries, ordered tiramisu as a replacement. 10 minutes later, we were advised they were out of that dessert as well. Again no worries. Ordered Apple strudel as a replacement. 15 minutes later we just gave up & got a candy from the vending machine. On the other hand, the pint of Guinness was great. read more

We spent three nights in the Ashling hotel and this pub is in the lobby so we visited several times. If you are just going for drinks it is a comfortable spot and has wonderful service. We had dinner here one night and it was OK, nothing to rave about. The service at the dinner tables was quite slow and not super friendly. I would recommend this place for a relaxing drink with friends and family absolutely. read more

The Iveagh Bar is none other than the bar of the Ashling Hotel where we stayed during our city trip in Dublin. This is a fairly large bar with a correct menu including classic drinks but also some snacks. I found the prices a little high. This is the only negative point. The space is really cozy and friendly, warm, you feel at ease in the big chairs near the windows! This is the perfect place for a last drink before going to bed ! read more

Was a guest at the hotel and came down for lunch after checking in. The restaurant was a bit crowded so it made service a little slow, but I was in no hurry. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. From the Bloody Mary, to the incredibly delicious cream of leek and coconut soup, and finishing with the chargrilled Cajun chicken focaccia - everything was delicious and just what I needed. This bar is located at the Ashling Hotel with large couches and a smaller dining area. I came down to grab dinner instead of going to the restaurant. Not very busy, I had to flag someone down to sit at a table. Once seated it took about 15 minutes for someone to come take my order. The lady who eventually took my order had walked by me several times as I told her I was ready to order. She continued to walk by and say "one moment". After ordering my fish and chips and water the Food came out pretty quick, but it took a reminder and 10 minutes for my water to be brought to me. I had also requested more tarter sauce when I reminded her of my water. I'm still sitting her waiting for my tarter sauce and my server to come back. The nice gentlemen has checked on me and is getting my tarter sauce while my server is still MIA. Tarter sauce has arrived! But now my fish and chips is cold. :( I'm afraid to order dessert as I may end up sitting here until tomorrow. I guess I'll settle for the check and the 3 day old half eaten chocolate muffin in my room. Dinner at the iveagh bar = FAIL!!! read more

The bar looks nice, lots of sofas etc to relax on but the barman who served us was clearly not in the mood. Surly, discouraging, unhelpful. We had one soft drink and left, as they'd run out of what we asked for. Not a good experience. read more
