3-piece Alaskan true cod fish and chips. Hot and crispy. I wish it were battered instead of breaded. But it was still good.
Big E.

Up until now, I had zero experience with this local chain/brand. I found myself unexpectedly on this end of town and decided to give them a try. I might have been the first customer of the day. Very friendly person at the counter. I asked about allergens and ingredients (because I'm a no lactose guy). At first he wasn't sure, but then consulted the chart he had behind the register and showed it to me. I would've tried more items like the chowder, if I would've had some lactaid pills with me, but decided to go with a 3-piece Alaskan true cod fish and chips and a soda. The food came out lightning fast. I don't even think it was 5 minutes. I was surpised that it was a breaded style. I usually prefer battered. But it was hot and fresh tasting. Fries were hot and crispy as well. I really, really wish I had some lactaid pills with me. I wanted fried clams in a bad way. Next time. Anyway. It didn't knock it out of the park for me. But I didn't feel ripped off either. I still can't get used to the 10% restaurant tax in this area. So after tax and tip, over $20 is a little steep for lunch. But you'll be paying the same or more at BK or McD's, right?

Salmon and chips 4 piece

I've been to a handful of different Iver's, all of which have maintained that same high quality of food and I'm happy to say this location continues to follow that trend! Mom and I split the 4 piece salmon and chips and the salmon pieces are so incredible. Large pieces, hot and fresh with that signature minimal breading we both liked and barely any oil residue. They were so delicious. The fries were fine, nothing that will blow your mind but you get enough to split and that's what we did. But the salmon dipped in their tartar sauce is THE BEST. It's always a good time to eat at Iver's :)

Fish tacos

Although we don't stop here often, we always enjoy it when we do. For starters the place is clean. I compare this to other sit-down and fast food restaurants. They might be fooling me, but I don't think so. Next, the staff-like they enjoy their job, appearing to want to be there, friendly and professional. This is key when looking for a place to eat. Many employees go by the numbers, no smile with little courtesy. This crew is customer focused. The food was hot and delicious with good portions. Everything considered we will return.

Jumbo Prawns 'N Chips

YES YES YES ! I love this Ivars so much, I have honestly been there 3 times this past month and it's been on point every single time! The food is always hot, fresh and flavorful. I always get the fish and chips half Cajun and my mom gets the clam chowder. We splurged today and got the Cajun baby shrimp and jumbo shrimp and you guessed it; it was amazing! And to mention that the customer service is always on point. They are so kind and definitely give you all the crackers and lemons when you need it. I even got extra cod today! The soda is nice and spicy too yum! The place is always clean too, which is comforting when you're eating good food. And of course, I'll be back!

4-pc classic cod/chips $14, hot, fresh and tasty. Wish slaw included.

Would give 4 rating due to everything ( cleanliness, food quality and menu options), except prices. Although I do know good fresh seafood not inexpensive. I must say though one of my favorites, like many is the famous clam chowder. Hadn't been here in a while and this time we noticed it wasn't as thick/creamy, stronger on bacon flavor and shy on clams, so that was disappointing. Hoping it was an off' day. We also got the classic 4-pc cod/chips $14, very tasty but should have come w/ bit of slaw too so we ordered a side $3-4. Also got a clam/chips basket $10 also good. Portions are smaller than remembered. We asked for two small sodas than realized their only reg. size is 16 oz. and $3.25 each, ugh. I hate paying $3+ when don't usually get a refill. $7.50 for one cup each kills me but she also should have said they don't have small. Nearly $40 later for lunch, we had it eaten in under 15 mins. and just had chowder & slaw left to take home. Good but definitely need more specials and rewards to get people drawn to their good food. I'm afraid it's going to go under at this Puyallup location as eateries next to it we're busy yet only couple other tables while we were there. Also wish they had hush puppies.

NO Super Clams, , just Super Breading

No more clams I like Ivers Fish and cl chowder always hot and yummy, but don't get the Super Clams $12 but I could not taste clams, just soggy breading. After eating 3-4 pieces I decided to remove the breading so I could taste the clams. To my dismay I could not find a clam in several smaller strips and the larger ones Har a miniscule piece of clam and were 75% breading So if you dislike clams but like breading go for it Me? I will not order again and I fed my breading to the parking lot crows

3 Piece Fish 'N Chips

I am so surprised at the size of the fish pieces each time I go it seems the pieces get smaller and smaller I also ordered my fries crispy and they were not crispy and had no flavor. Been eating ivars my whole life and it's gone down hill will be looking for a new fish place

We came here for my friend's birthday and the vibe was absolutely immaculate!!!! Exactly the kind of energy you want for a special night out. Let's talk about the service: Brian and Jason are absolute legends. They took such good care of us and honestly made the whole experience 10x better. They're attentive, super friendly, and just know how to make you feel like a VIP. The bar has everything you need. Reanee is the sweetest and will customize to your hearts desire ensuring your whistle is wet Now, the food... wow. The chicken is straight-up fire, but the real game-changer is the Lemon Pepper SAUCE. I've only ever had the dry rub before at other spots, but having it as a wet sauce is a total revelation. It's zesty, peppery, and addictive... I'm never going back to dry rub again. Amazing food, killer service, and a great atmosphere. If you haven't been here yet, you're missing out. Highly recommend!

In my mind it…read morewas gonna be dimly lit, old school, classy dark-colored furniture, easy listening jazzy music playing softly in the background and a warm ambiance that was inviting, once you stepped in. That's what I picture when I hear speakeasy. A very intimate setting. However, this was completely opposite. It was bright, with a mishmash of decor. I wasn't sure if there was a theme. There were fake plants and a column/pillar with mirrors on it, an Amazon Forrest mural on the wall with televisions up on a couple. Felt like a sports bar. The tables and chairs were your average styled booths, that light-colored wood. It was sooooo cold inside. When we walked in, we were greeted by a nice young lady. She seemed to have a puzzled look on her face as to why we were there. My husband stated we had reservations. So now we were seated. Time to order. Looking over the menu, I see the pricing and was like "ok, a lil higher priced type of menu" I was down to give it a try. We ordered the calamari and zucchini chips for apps and then the butternut squash risotto with scallops (approx $30) for me and the brined chicken ($28) for my husband as well as a side of broccolini ($14). The apps came out first and I was honestly shocked. The calamari were so tiny and the zucchini looked like what they would serve in a bowling alley. Both dishes had the "mama lil's peppers" in it. I'm okay with the portion size but how are you charging $20 for calamari and $14 for the zucchini? Then we received our entrees. Again, we were looking for an elevated dining experience with the pricing of the food, to include presentation and all. I was disappointed to see the cheap cafeteria-like silverware and dish ware it was served on. Now understand the food was good. Not OMG WE ARE COMING BACK kinda good. But mid. Nothing wrong with that but the way they advertise is as if you are about to have a romantic, chill and classy dining experience. It's okay to be mid tier. I won't be mad about it. My dish was not butternut squash risotto, it was a mushroom risotto with 4 mid sized scallops. My husband's chicken was nicely seasoned and flavored and the mashed potatoes it came with, delish. He had caramelized carrots but some were straight black. Maybe a bit much heat. The broccolini was drowning in a cream sauce with onions and mama lil's peppers, slightly overcooked. Needless to say, it wasn't the dinner I was expecting, especially paying almost $200 for it. We did have a couple drinks and those were good. Customer service was on point. The staff were accommodating and helpful. I would kinda expect that since there were only us and another table in the dining room area. I had high hopes but sadly, not the vibe I was looking for. I've been to a fair share of a lil more upscale restaurants and this didn't hit that point for me personally. I think with lower prices and refraining from calling it a speakeasy, it could do well. Just my opinion. Oh they had a lil area for taking selfies available. Thank you for a nice date night with my hubby. We had a chance to have some one on one time together.

I couldn't remember the name of the place, but we found it: The Fish Peddler! We must have arrived at a perfect interval because there was a table for two that had just been bussed and ready for us near the large counter in the back where food was collected by servers and presented to hungry patrons at any of the 30-40 tables. Our server was genuinely warm and delightful and guided us to the menu and the on-line beer on tap information. Drinks were ordered and delivered in minutes - just enough time for us to announce our selections: A 3-piece halibut and chips for her, and for me, the albacore tuna with spring greens and gouda cheese on sourdough with a pint of I'm Not Afraid Of Music. It had the lowest alcohol content, and since I was driving, didn't want to push my luck. When our huge white dinner plates arrived - oh - did I mention the amazing jalapeño coleslaw? - we were amazed at the size of the perfectly deep fried halibut - which, on their own, provide a good bite, making only a smitten of tartar sauce necessary because you gotta have tartar sauce with fried fish, after all, right? I picked up one my sandwich haves and removed the toothpick with too much gusto and suffered a small splinter that I couldn't remove until I got home a couple of hours later with the help of a magnifying glass, a tweezer and some masking tape. But I ignored the splinter while I enjoyed my "this is NOT your mom's - or HER mom's - Tuna melt". The perfect balance of the albacore spread with the gouda showing up gloriously in almost every bite, the pillowy and cool greens and tomato slice that balanced the heat from the albacore between the two lightly toasted sourdough was my Valentine's Day gift to my mouth. We were stuffed, but not defeated - we ordered our cheesecake to go, and I get to have the last piece of halibut for a snack later on! It was great getting re-acquainted with This cozy, fun, busy restaurant since our last (and first) visit 3 years ago. My only regret is that for some unknown but surely inexcusable reason, I had waited three years before returning. Won't happen again.

Turns out it's the former, at least in atmosphere. The service was genuinely lovely from start to finish. The host, server, and table assistants were warm and attentive. No notes there. We went with the ribeye prix fixe, which felt like the obvious call given that Ms. Jane's has built its reputation around it. The menu included a salad, two ribeyes with mashed potatoes and broccoli, and dessert for $150 plus wine. The salad was beautiful and delicious. It just could've used some cheese, and I will die on that hill. The mashed potatoes were legitimately outstanding and nearly redeemed the entire evening on their own. The broccoli was fine. Broccoli is always just fine. Then there were the ribeyes. They were enormous, beautifully presented, and unfortunately not much else. Both cuts had an excessive amount of fat and lacked the depth of flavor you'd expect from a restaurant that's staked its identity on this one dish. We make better steaks at home, which is not something you want to be thinking about after dropping $150 before wine. Dessert closed things out on a high note. A chocolate and vanilla mousse topped with genuinely delicate whipped cream. In the moment we told ourselves we'd come back and try something else. A few days of reflection later, that enthusiasm cooled but it didn't disappear entirely. The service was too good, the mashed potatoes too memorable, and the mousse too solid to write the place off completely. Ms. Jane's clearly has something going on. We just hope the ribeye isn't the thing they're most proud of.
