Ivan was friendly and professional both in person and over the phone. I'd say his diagnostic fee of $150 is fair compared to dealership prices--that's about the only positive I can offer. He charged me $750 to remove the intake manifold and starter, which I agreed to in hopes that he would identify the issue with my car. After a day and a half, I received a text saying my engine was seized and would need to be replaced. This was confusing because, during the initial diagnostic, he told me the issue was electrical. I don't believe he even used the proper tool to manually turn the crankshaft. I had my car towed back home, and yesterday I checked over the work myself. I found missing bolts, loose bolts, missing coolant hose clips, and the intake manifold was installed incorrectly--with a coolant hose pinched between the manifold and the alternator. I essentially had to undo everything I paid him to do just to inspect what else was missing or improperly reinstalled. Wires were left exposed and not put back into their plastic sheathing. For $750 in labor, plus $150 for the diagnostic, I expected a much higher level of care, attention to detail, and pride in workmanship. Unfortunately, what I received was far from professional, and I'm left disappointed and frustrated that I now have to fix the very things I paid someone else to do. I try to figure things out. The "thing" that was giving me the blues was replacing a reservoir (coolant). I had the part, watched a video on YouTube and had most of the tools. Most. The one tool I needed was a specialty item to remove the "buttons" (I called them what I called them. Hush!) and allow me to remove a panel and replace the reservoir. I'm also a woman with limited patience. It's the same kind of patience my husband exhibits when he can't find the 60 oz bucket of yellow mustard in the fridge. That was my level of patience when I couldn't remove the old reservoir. So, after leaving messages for two other mobile mechanics who shall remain nameless (I'm not feeling that petty today) and calling another business whose voicemailbox was full (Seriously?) I called Ivan's. I was kept updated on their arrival, the work to be done was discussed, the pricing was fair, and the technicians were wonderful. They were pleasant, respectful and efficient. I almost wanted to ask them in for a snack, but my home was not fit for company (I'm Yelping for cleaning services next). My experience with Ivan's was customer service should always be. I'm still waiting on a response from the other two businesses. I have a mechanic in Inglewood (where Momster lives), one in San Berardino (work) and now one for home. I requested that they come out and fix a mistake I had made on my car. I received a quote over the phone by text message and then when I notified that I was paying by credit card I got an additional one up front before agreeing to any services. The mechanics were early, polite, clean, and the work was done swiftly for exactly what I was quoted.
