Working with Irvin at Prostruct Engineering was a breath of fresh air. After purchasing a new home…read moreand enduring my first winter, I was incredibly nervous to find significant water in my crawl space and cracks along the raised foundation. I initially signed a contract with Prostruct, but after Irvin reviewed my photos, he demonstrated a level of integrity that is rare to find. Instead of taking the job, he honestly informed me that my specific issues fell outside their scope. He took the time to explain what I was seeing, referred me to a geotechnical engineer who could actually solve the problem, and issued me a full refund. I greatly appreciated his transparency and professional guidance. I highly recommend Prostruct Engineering to anyone looking for an honest assessment--they clearly prioritize the customer's needs over their own bottom line.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY -- terrible communication and shady tactics…read more I reached out to ProStruct Engineering for a simple onsite structural evaluation at my home in Danville. They sent a 10-page contract and demanded the full $1,100 upfront the same day, before any work was even scheduled. After I signed and inquired, I asked the project manager multiple times for a firm date when the engineer could come out for the survey. Instead of giving a straightforward answer, they used clear delay tactics and kept putting me off with vague responses. When I finally decided to cancel before any site visit or report was started, their own contract (Section 5.5) clearly states I should only owe a $500 "setup fee." Yet they are now treating it as if I owe the entire $1,100. This is a classic "pay us everything first, then we'll drag our feet" operation with a heavily one-sided contract designed to trap customers. Save yourself the stress, the risk of a lien on your house, and the endless runaround. There are plenty of other licensed structural engineers in the Bay Area who actually communicate and don't play games with scheduling. Would not recommend. Proceed with extreme caution.

After some research, I concluded I should consult a structural engineer. Framework has great reviews, so I reached out. The person who resounded to my email inquiry requested some photos, asked me some targeted questions, gave me some pointers re what to look for, looked at more photos, and responded again. The professionalism and courtesy exhibited by this company is first rate, and I am not yet even a client. These days, great customer service is rare, so I am surprised and enthusiastic when I receive it. I may or may not end up needing a structural engineer in the future, but, if I do, I know who I will hire.

I strongly recommend Framework Engineering…read more My wife and I were looking to put in an offer on a house near Rockridge Bart. Due to the condition of the home, which hadn't been lived in for a couple of years, there was significant deferred maintenance and open questions about the scope of needed structural repairs. The house sits on a down slope with a large undeveloped basement level. We have a growing family, so were excited about the possibility of expanding the square footage of the house in the future, but unsure about the risk and cost to expand. Dustin Muhn came out to the site this past Sunday on short notice. He walked the Basement level with us and compared his observations to the seller's home inspection report. He uncovered a crack in one of the retaining walls that was not covered by the report and expertly interpreted some of the more technical language for us. Most importantly, he provided us feedback on the minimum required scope of work that we should complete prior to occupying the house, while also exploring a second larger project to occur sometime later. If you're looking for someone to evaluate the structural design and existing conditions of your home, Check out Framework Engineering.
