Working with Irvin at Prostruct Engineering was a breath of fresh air. After purchasing a new home and enduring my first winter, I was incredibly nervous to find significant water in my crawl space and cracks along the raised foundation. I initially signed a contract with Prostruct, but after Irvin reviewed my photos, he demonstrated a level of integrity that is rare to find. Instead of taking the job, he honestly informed me that my specific issues fell outside their scope. He took the time to explain what I was seeing, referred me to a geotechnical engineer who could actually solve the problem, and issued me a full refund. I greatly appreciated his transparency and professional guidance. I highly recommend Prostruct Engineering to anyone looking for an honest assessment--they clearly prioritize the customer's needs over their own bottom line. read more

20 minutes late to a scheduled call. Unclear on the service area and was unlikely to provide service in N San Diego County. Vaguely requires whole house plans for simple door entry modifications. Waste of time. read more

I've worked with ProStruct Engineering on a couple of my projects for full plan sets, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. Their team is very professional, responsive, and easy to work with. The plans were well-prepared and detailed, and the city approved them with minimal corrections, which really speaks about their quality and attention to detail. One of the projects was on a hillside property, where the foundation requirements were quite intense, but their team handled it seamlessly with well-thought-out and detailed designs. See pics. They always delivered on time and maintained excellent communication throughout the process, keeping me informed at every step. I highly recommend ProStruct Engineering to anyone looking for reliable and efficient structural design services! A special mention to Lokesh, who I worked with directly -- he was very responsive, understood my needs clearly, and made sure everything was addressed on time. read more

We have a flat-roofed house in the desert, foam and t&g planks with support beams, that makes frequent crashing and banging noises loud enough to wake us out of a dead sleep. I've had the roof and ceiling inspected a number of times and everyone says it looks perfect, no visible signs of damage. It seems to be an issue with contraction and expansion of the layers of the roof due to temperature and/or humidity changes, but no one has been able to pinpoint a precise solution. I've had a few suggestions for unusual solutions with never more than a 50/50 probability of success. So we thought, instead of the roofing experts I've been talking to, why not confer with a structural engineer? Which brings me to my phone appointment with Josh last week. Based on what I told him, he said it didn't sound like a structural frame issue. So that's good news. Josh was upfront in that if he sent an engineer to inspect my place, that in my case, I would incur an expense that probably wouldn't yield me more information than I already have. I appreciate that he didn't try to sell me on an expensive inspection that I don't need. Josh was personable and patiently addressed my questions and concerns, even when it had become clear that my problem is outside of their scope of work. I appreciated the conversation. He wasn't able to refer me to anyone that he thought could help me address the problem, so if anyone has a recommendation for this weird problem, please let me know! read more

I found these guys on Yelp (searching for structural engineers) 4 reviews (but in business for 35 years?) Had a good intro call with Bryan who is "maybe a project manager or sales" but only a 20 min phone call. In scheduled a second zoom meeting so I could see if there was a legit person and get a more detailed overview of the company, who they are and how ir works. Bryan was not comfortable getting on camera (and I said thats kind of a deal breaker) i need to see who Im working with. How do I know you guys aren't a scam? He then had Josh (a co-owner) give me a call. Josh did call me promptly but his customer service, and attitude were way off. He said he could make a Zoom call but first why don't you tell me more about your project to see if "we want your project" He proceeded to talk at me and word choice gave me the impression of arrogance and like he was irritated, and dismissive. there's no way I was gonna to give this Owner my business. Oh and I still never saw Josh on camera so who knows if this is legit. read more

Understand what you're getting and learn from my mistake. The scope is very lawyered up; read it carefully, and don't listen to the answers they give on the phone. The $895 is for them to sub-out to a local engineer to look at your project and say whether it could be done or not, and give options like a designer would without any technical specs (i.e. "you could probably run a board to span this area" without required sizing or anything else you'd actually need to do the project; it's merely for a concept). The real charge comes if you want anything usable (upwards of 4-5x the original). Nice folks, and it's too far to say a scam, but be prepared for an expensive bait and switch. read more

Prostruct Engineering came to inspect patio decks as part of a home purchase inspection. They were super prompt with responding for a quote, answering my questions, and writing the inspection report. They were very flexible in working with me to schedule the dates as I had to give tenant notice. The report was clear and extremely helpful. Lokesh called me to see if I questions, Frances was thorough and thoughtful as he inspected the place I would absolutely recommend them to anyone else! read more

From the first phone appointment to the final phase of our building inspection, I was very impressed with ProStruct Engineerimg. We had some major issues with the beams in the attic. I did some research and found ProStruct Engineeting to work with. They came up with detailed plan to retrofit our beams. They even referred to me the good contractor to do the actual work. The city inspectors came and had it passed right after seeing the work. They also were impressed with the amount of retrofit work that were involved with and were shown by their true professional expertise and work ethic. I highly recommed ProStruct Engineering if you ever need help with any of structural work on your home. read more

ProStruct came to my rescue when my previous structural engineer bailed on the job and claimed to have gone on vacation - leaving me stranded with a 10-day delay. I reached out to 5 companies and ProStruct was very competitive when it came to rates and was in the middle bucket (You get what you pay for, trust me - folks who are extremely cheap are probably doing this part-time) I engaged ProStruct and I can't tell you, having a project manager like Lokesh really makes a whole load of difference when it comes to timelines, communications, and delivery. Lokesh was extremely clear and on point with his delivery. Francis the engineer showed up the next day to measure and ran the calculations within 2 weeks. We got our permits approved within 43 days after submission - Did I mention, that it was a one-time approval, ZERO questions for structural engineering? (This speaks highly of their work ethics) I am impressed and will continue to utilize ProStruct for my structural needs - I've already started my second project with them! read more

I would like to take this moment to give Kudo's to Irvin Chua with ProStruct Engineering, and give Irvin a BIG THANK YOU, for taking his time and being so patient with me as I asked questions to allow me to make the right decision for our "noisy" furnace situation and another placement for it within the house, as the options were slim, but we definitely figured this situation out together for the right choice! Irvin's knowledge, expertise and suggestions were sound, good advice and educated as we brainstormed together on a few ideas as I had to make the right decision for our "noisy" furnance project! Such a relief and a blessing! Happy and relieved from a "mentally" satisfied client, there's nothing like a reassuring knowledgeable engineer to receive the right information for a tedious project, for sure! Thank you again! :) Respectfully said, Mia... read more

Josh Krumm was the engineer I spoke with. When my ADU company suggested I get a geotechnical report, all the engineers just blankly gave me quotes that ranged from $4k to almost $9k. Josh asked really good questions and even said if this is a junior ADU (which is less than 500 sq ft), it should not require a geotechnical (soil) report. My backyard in SF is not on a slope or on a fault line. I told him it was a new build, and he asked me to question the engineer before I went ahead and accepted this. Now the engineer is working with his supervisor for an interpretation. Josh informed me if I need any more help on this, he is happy to step in as the engineer. I'm so grateful to find a company that helps their customers save money and not blindly spend money. read more

Dawn, my project manager, was quick and always responsive to client concerns. Despite running into problems along the way, Dawn is reliable, and never have to worry about her non-responding. I can't say that about my contractor. A+ for Dawn. read more

I was referred to construct engineering by my realtor. I wanted to evaluate some cracks and ensure there were no structural issues with my house. They were very professional and responsive. A structural engineer came by and took the time to explain everything that was going to be in his report. They produced a thorough report and suggested next steps. I highly recommend them and would use them again! read more

Great response and turnaround times. Foundation report was accurate. highly recommend working with these folks.

I called them a few weeks ago to get an idea how much they would charge for drawing up plans for earthquake retrofitting and levelling our house, and they were nice enough. We decided to instead go with the first company we got a quote from, but ProStruct decided that I needed to be hounded into changing my mind, and sent me numerous emails and texts to "check in with you on your project and see where things are at." They also called me, and I informed them that I went with another firm. That didn't stop them from continuing the emails and texts, and they even called me again. When they called the second time, I told them that they should stop harassing me, but I got another email and more texts. I've blocked them on my phone, so I don't know if they stopped sending me texts, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did. If you are lonely and want to get lots of attention, ask for a quote from ProStruct. read more

The whole team at ProStruct Engineering exhibited the best customer service I have experienced in a long time. Vajezatha was very prompt with her communication and informative with laying out the process ProStruct engineers would conduct during my subfloor inspection.Unfortunately, I had a health crisis, and had to cancel my inspection, but Josh from ProStruct was very warm with his response to the cancellation, and didn't try to push the job, and immediately refunded my evaluation cost!As soon as I am well enough, I am going back to this team! They made me feel valued as a customer, something so many companies lack today! read more

The ProStruct team were very professional and at the same time flexible. We had two simultaneous projects with them going at the same time. One was straight forward major renovation and Nithin and team worked with my architect very well. They were very responsive and accepted the many changes we made as we moved along. They were very good engineers and I was very very happy with them. On my second project which was a bit of a challenging project applying for permits etc , even though it was just fixing a garage which got damaged by storm and needed a lot of work. Josh, Nithin and his team were very patient with us and the contractor in understanding what the county was asking for and trying to fulfill the needs. Although we have submitted and waiting for the permit I am confident it will go through smoothly as the quality engineers in Prostruct have done a good job. Overall it has been a very positive experience. They are also very efficient and fast without compromising quality. I will post pictures once the project is complete. read more

I had a very small project (roof screen for a mechanical system) and had difficulty finding a structural engineer to do the calcs and drawings for Plan Check review. I will be calling on them with future work!!! read more
