Arash helped us with our on going Kitchen Remodeling issue where electrician cut notches on the window header compromising it completely. Arash visited the site on a short notice, evaluated the situation and provided with multiple cost-effective, time-effective, not too invasive solutions to bring back the strength of the header. So I'm seeing cracks on my ceiling and they are starting to worry me. I checked Yelp and Nextdoor for some structural engineer recommendations. When I contacted them to get more information they responded timely. Made an appointment with them about a week and a half later. Arash came to the house and looked everywhere garage, outside, all the rooms. And thankfully he said there is no foundation concern. Took him I want to say about 40min to look everywhere. They are not cheap. My eyes almost popped out of my socket when I heard about their rate. But I want someone with experience to look at the house. Anyways, there is a little hiccup with the invoice but they reached back to me quickly to resolve it. The inspection cost is separate to the report fee. Just fyi. We just bought a new (older) house. On the very first day we owned it, Arash F. came by to inspect the structure for our planned remodeling project. He even climbed into the tiny attic to carefully examine the ceiling structure and determine whether it would be safe to raise the ceiling by a foot. He also cut a small inspection hole in the ceiling to confirm that the wall between the kitchen and family room was not load-bearing and could be removed safely. I was disappointed when the engineer came out and suddenly the price of service went up by 1/3. The scope of the work was different apparently, which was my lack of understanding the engineering terms. As consultants they could have done a better job asking targeted questions of a non-engineering person so that we were all on the same page. I didn't feel comfortable with the price change and on the spot pressure to take their evolving deals, so I didn't accept service. read more

Together they made a formidable combination to help me through several structural challenges. One of which was a change in the direction of staircase in my home ( that literally 7-8 architects gave up hope on). They came out and took a few prelim measurements, accessed the roof and crawl-spaces, spent over an hour looking at the structure of the home. Never sent us a report, nor a sample report before they arrived, and we never agreed on a cost of their services. Their "office manager" emailed and phoned us requesting payment for the "preliminary investigation" but would not send us a report of the work they did, scope of investigation of our structure, findings and recommendations. ???? EAS helped us with a design for both insulating our uninsulated cathedral ceiling that had an undersized support system and seismic retrofits for that part of the house, which was complicated with big sliding glass doors and a brick chimney for one wall. This was not a simple/typical deck project as it was built right next to an existing pool, on a hillside prone to soil settlement. During the project we had to navigate various challenges -- from architectural changes to meet the City's elevated deck rules, to adjustments to the placement of the concrete piers to be clear of the pool wall and pipes, to finding alternative materials to use for beams and columns due to supply shortages. His quote was incredibly fair and reasonable but our contractor expressed interest in working with the same engineer he normally works with, so we obliged.
