I don't frequent IT'SUGAR often. I generally do when I'm on vacation. It was the case last month when I visited this store at Opry Mills. The last time I visited this sweet store (literally and figuratively) was in Las Vegas several years ago. You can buy practically every gummy, lollipop, or candy that exists at this store. You pay by weight. There were a lot of sugary items to peruse. I was pleased to see a wide assortment of Squishmallows plushies. Naturally, there were many that were also Hershey collaborations. There were Pusheen, Hello Kitty, Nerds, Coca-Cola, and Oreo plushies. I was in heaven! I also saw Grogu as a Pop Vinyl figurine. I loved them all. I liked looking at the cereal varieties. I saw sour worms and gummy bears as cereal. I laughed when I say the boxes say that each cereal had no nutritional value... haha! You do get sales at this store. Cotton candy in containers were 50% off the regular price. I managed to nab a couple of Ribena drink boxes for a dollar each. I was so happy! Seeing my favourite candies and snacks as scented candles was cool. The Swedish Fish caught my attention. I consume so many of them that I'm surprised that I don't look like one. That candle smelled good. I went to pay for my items at the counter. The woman asked if I wanted to buy a Make-A-Wish star lollipop, where a portion of the proceeds go to the foundation. I said yes. I paid with a credit card. The transaction completely successfully. I thanked the woman and left with my purchases. I finally finished my star lollipop on the weekend. It was yummy. It was surprisingly not super sugary. I had an enjoyable visit to this store. I'd return when I'm back at Opry Mills. (346)

My daughter has an absolute sweet tooth she loves candy so the first thing she went and did was grab some candy and we shared some it is slightly pricey but at the same time what can you expect from the mall everything is overpriced possibly next time well just pack some candy for her instead of paying almost $15 for just a little bag worth of candies

Pack, buy, eat and repeat. This is exactly what we did! My family and I came here a couple days before Christmas and stocked up. Yes, we repeated it, too, the day after Christmas! I am a sucker for sour candies. Well, they had a whole bulk section. You bet I packed a bag with all the sour goodies. Sour belts are probably my absolute favorite. The goodness goes on for days. We had a riot seeing all the fun novelty candies and sweets. During our 1st visit, my daughter even got a gummy holiday house to build (instead of the traditional gingerbread house), which looked like gummy Lego blocks colored red, green and white. They even had a chocolate candy (bulk) bar, so we loaded up on some dark chocolate candies, too! It was so fun to see the giant versions of popular candy and also loved the "marshmallow only" (no cereal) boxes. Even though it was a couple days before Christmas, it was terribly packed and customer service was great. The gentleman, who was working the store kept things pretty tidy; thankfully. Because who wants to see or shop in a candy store that's in disarray. So, the day after Christmas we were back and we bought more! The cool things was that everything Christmas-themed was 50% off! Of course, we loaded up again. Yes, we went home with more goodies in our baggies!

One of the employees gave us a quick blurb on the candy factory's history: It's a family business of many decades dedicated to handcrafting a diverse range of Southern sweets and delicacies. The founder is Stan, aka "The Candy Man." Aside from the wall-to-wall and candy dispensers, SCK also offers Gourmet Popcorn, Pralines, Divinity, Cakes/Pies, and various gift ideas. I walked away with bags of some of my favorites - Hot Tamales, other Mike & Ike's flavors, Sweet Tarts, and Cherry Sour Balls & Jelly Beans. It was cool to watch the gourmet popcorn, chocolates, and candied apples being made. The sweet landmark you have to stop by when in Nashville. Just don't snack too much before dinner.

We accidently ran across it while heading to the Lainey Wilson place next door. Once I saw it, I had to stop in. Inside is a homage to the Goo Goo Cluster with history, trivia and lots of product sold to go. I do wish they had free samples available. If so, I probably would've bought more product. We bought a few items as it was and are still enjoying them back home in the Seattle area. This place is fun to check out and learn about the Goo Goo Cluster.

But after seeing a Yelp friend post their positive review of their much more recent visit to Goo Goo's, I wanted to briefly tell the (Yelp) world that I also had a fabulous time at this Tennessee-based chocolate factory, especially in regards to their build-your-own Goo Goo Chocolate class. If you haven't had their chocolate before, the Goo Goo Chocolate Co was founded over 100 years ago in Nashville, TN and is unique for its disc shape, containing nougat, caramel, peanuts, and chocolate. These huge clusters are absolutely delicious and make great gifts! Surprisingly, it is only about 200 calories for the traditional palm size piece of candy. So of course, I enjoyed quite a few during our chocolate making class! I took this class as part of my sister's 30th birthday bash in Nashville in 2024 with my sister and her friends. For about an hour, our lovely cooking instructor entertained us with his hilarious wit, making us feel giddy and grand as we made some Goo Goos! While the base was the same for all participants, we could add whatever we wanted inside before our creation was drizzled in yummy chocolate. We could also grab some tiny treats to snack on too. I remember putting lots of pretzels, marshmallows, and many others things in mine! Best of all, we were gifted with half a dozen full sized goo goo chocolates as well as a branded apron that is incredibly well made and is my go-to apron even now! Then we also got a discount for the attached gift shop to buy some candy for our loved ones... or for ourselves! I bought a magnet and Goo Goo branded coffee beans. At about $45-55 a person, this is a decently priced experience I highly recommend for all Nashville tourists and locals alike.

Per some sources, they are the first bean to bar chocolate maker in Tennessee, and they even offer weekly factory tours, although I wasn't able to make it in time for one. Olive and Sinclair has a relatively small retail area. They have all of their products on display and more importantly, have tons of samples! I ended up trying basically everything. The chocolatier doesn't advertise where they source their cocoa from but I asked an employee and she said they switch it up all the time. Apparently the current batch is from Peru, which gives the chocolate a pretty neutral taste at the start but then transitions to a kind of sharper dried fruit taste. They also sell several types of caramels. The Ghost Pepper Caramel starts with the caramel sweetness. It's only a second or two later that some heats starts to show up. I'm not sure how much ghost pepper they actually use; the heat is a bit more than just a warmth, but isn't nearly to the point of being painful. The heat lingers for quite a while, enough that I had to wait a good five minutes before trying another caramel! Interestingly I think this one has the "cleanest" caramel taste, at least at the start before the pepper kicks in! The Duck Fat Caramel has similar sweet undertones but adds on a really savory and almost meaty element on top. The Sea Salt & Vinegar Caramel has a light vinegar scent. It starts with sweetness and a light tang, but then the vinegar gets stronger. It never gets to the point of tasting like a vinaigrette, but is quite noticeable. To be honest, I'm not a fan of any of the caramels. They are certainly unique and nice to try though! I ended up picking some of their more intriguing products - the Bourbon Nib Brittle and the Smoked Nib Brittle - for gifts. From what I tried in store, they're both exactly as the names imply: super bourbon forward sweet candy, and a surprisingly intense smoky sweet. Yum! Olive and Sinclair Chocolate is definitely a place to pick up some unique local gifts! I wish I had made it in time for one of their tours.
