Roberta was a very pleasant lady, but we had a bad experience. Brought 2 bridesmaids dresses in to be altered. One required taking it in on the side, at the top and hemmed. This cost $180. The second one required taking in at the top and hemmed for $140. The first one was so large on the top, but Roberta didn't want to alter it. She told my daughter to use tape! We now have to go get it altered because it looks awful. The second one turned out ok, but the price was unreasonable. Especially since Roberta told me I was getting a discount by paying in cash. My wife went in to have a few bathing tops taken in. After saying to them she really only wanted to pay one hour (40 dollars). She mentioned to them that she bought them online for near that amount. No call to say it would cost more, just 140 dollars due once she got there a week later. The lady even said it would have been 165 if not for a "special discount". I have seen things like this at "shady" mechanic shops. A simple call to say it would take longer would have avoided this as we could have just went to a designer store in town to buy brand name bathing suits for the same price. read more

I just had a pair of jeans slimmed down in the legs a bit so they'd fit in my tall boots better without bunching. I called ahead on a Saturday afternoon and Roberta told me to come on over. She took my measurements quickly and verified what I wanted. I came back 5 days later and the pants fit well: $22.50 (I believe). Note: It's cash or check only, so just be sure to have either ready when you come back to pick up and pay for your garments. Overall, an easy experience and a quality job. read more

It's a Stitch is a one-woman-show from what I can tell and Roberta (I'm 99% sure that's her name) does an amazing job. She has sewed buttons on jackets for me, hemmed multiple bridesmaid dresses, taken dresses in, taken others out. Everything has been done flawlessly and on time. I've always felt 100% at ease with her working on my clothes. I can't say the same for other alterations places I've tried. Nothing is worse than leaving your new $150 jeans with someone who you're not sure understands what you just told them to do. Not the case with Roberta....she even took a bridesmaid dress out for me at no cost (I was having her hem it) when I was going to deal with the thing being too tight. She was worried that the zipper might break and didn't want me to chance it. That's customer service! I will return again and again and recommend her to anyone seeking alterations work. I am getting married in Sept and needed my wedding gown hemmed. Of course I was nervous of where I would go because I a.) didn't want to get ripped off and b.) I want it to be gorgeous. It's a stitch succeeded on both desired. The actual hem is very well done and the entire dress looks great and fits well. There's only 1 woman who works(and owns) the place but I didn't feel rushed. She took multiple pictures for me even! I had extra fabric and she was excitedly telling me what I could do with it; she seemed genuinely enthusiastic about clothes and style. I'm already planning on taking my dress back in a year to shorten and alter for a cocktail anniversary dress! read more

Such a disappointment. My sister is getting married in two weeks and my dress is ruined. She made a large mistake and wasn't going to mention it to me. Thankfully I caught it. She cut way too much off the bottom of my dress and tried to add it to the torso..... my dress now looks nothing like the other bridesmaids. She literally said "Well it's wearable. If I charge you $100 instead of $225 will you not kill me?" So incredibly unprofessional. I would never recommend her. read more

I brought my wedding dress to Roberta because she was on The Wedding Shoppe's recommended vendor list. WHAT A MISTAKE! She ruined my dress. With only two weeks before my wedding, I had to take it to another person who literally undid every stitch Roberta put in. And, another thing ? She is overpriced. The second woman I went to undid all of her work and THEN had to fix my dress in a short time frame, and she charged me $110 less than Roberta. Her shop was grubby, her floor dirty (not good for wedding dresses!) and she doesn't seem to "get" what current styles are. I am sure she does great ordinary tailor work (hemming pants, replacing buttons) but she has no "vision" or concept of what to do to fix such a complicated item as a wedding dress. read more

Went to see how much it would cost to replace a zipper on a jacket, lady told me that it would cost over $35 to fix and suggested to just go and get a new jacket instead. She was too busy watching the price is right to help so took my business elsewhere. read more

Roberta was wonderful! I called her with three weeks until my wedding and she had the job done and done right within a week! As soon as she zipped me up I couldn't stop smiling, the dress fits just right now and she was so pleasant. In the other places I've had dresses altered before, the people didn't talk to you or make conversation while they worked, they just ordered you around and that makes it pretty awkward. I'd happily recommend her to anyone who needs alterations. She did a wonderful job and was pleasant to work with! read more

Roberta was Great!! I took my daughters prom dress to her on a Sat morning and told her I needed it back by Friday. (Yep less than a week)! Long story short buying a prom dress was a nightmare! This was our second dress that had just arrived, and as you may know prom season is a very busy time for a seamstress. Most people were booked and the ones that weren't wouldn't touch the dress because of the amount of jewels on it. Roberta was so nice and took on this dress at the last min. Early Fri afternoon I got a call saying the dress was ready...She saved my daughters senior prom. She looked Amazing in the dress!! read more

Great work, but pretty spendy. I was in a bridal party and the cost of my alterations (taking in and hemming) were about $30 more than other bridesmaids, who also got their dresses done in the area. But Roberta does a fantastic job, so especially if you have something tricky, probably worth the $. read more

Roberta had horrible customer service. My friend took her dress there, she is super thin and can't help it and Roberta made her feel horrible! She got her dress back two weeks before her wedding and it still did not fit her. She had to take it to another alteration shop because she felt so uncomfortable going back to Roberta. Which the other place redid the bustle and took the dress in about another 1 1/2", AND only charged half of what Roberta charged. When my friend picked up the dress she was encouraged to pay for it in cash, so she did not have to pay any taxes. Hmmm, seems fishy Thank god they were able to get a receipt! After my friend took her dress in her mom called to just get the $100 back ( they paid almost $400) and she would not return her phone calls and when they finally got a hold of her, she flat out said she wasn't returning any money to them. I would not recommend this shop to anyone! The atmosphere is not right for a bride to be. The place is dirty and uninviting, and the customer service is horrible! read more
