Prospect Public Library held for spring break. That was very very well attended, with a long line of folks waiting to get in (and that's with all of us registered to attend!), but the show was a lot of fun. He did a little magic, a little comedy, and some fun balloon tricks. This guy has been doing this all his adult life--unless that's also a joke and part of his act--but regardless, he's great at his job. There was no work space for the paints, water and brushes because we were seated so close together. We couldn't see the instructor or able to see what she was demonstrating. We were really looking forward to this class and left feeling like they just cared about fitting as many bodies in to make money. This also raises the question what the occupancy for this space is because I have to believe they were over it. If there had been a fire or emergency I don't think everyone could have gotten out nor could any emergency help get in with equipment etc.

We had our tasting a couple months before our wedding day; which is complimentary to the couple and a $50 charge for any additional guest to join. They have you select 8-10 appetizers, 2 salads, and 4 entrees to taste at their Naperville location. They also have displays of china, silverware, glasses and more to help couples select what aligns aesthetically for their special day. Jamie worked with us to make small modifications to their standard offerings to make the food exactly what we wanted! Our wedding day came and we were floored by the quality/presentation of food, level of detail in place settings, and service from all staff members. We had multiple guests say that this was some of the best wedding food they've had, steaks were not over cooked, and food tasted fresh. Jamie also let us add desserts a week out to reallocate money from a couple of guests who last minute were unable to attend. Their team was even nice enough to service items not purchased through their group: disposables for the late night snack, display and refilling of cupcakes, etc. Overall, their group went above and beyond for us under Jamie's leadership. Our tables looked great, our food was wonderful, and their team was fabulous. We truly appreciate all they've done for us and could not recommend them more! Disappointing experience despite a fresh and new business relationship. We have used this catering…read morecompany for multiple corporate events and have spent considerable money with them. Historically, the food and service have been very good, which makes our experience with our most recent BBQ event particularly disappointing. The weather was questionable the morning of the event, so we understood the decision to precook the burgers and brats. However, the weather ultimately cooperated, and the event proceeded as planned. We specifically requested that we use at least one large gas grill we provided, even if only to keep the grill/char lines going, but that did not happen. The catering team arrived on time, but the setup was not completed as expected. Two chefs who had originally been scheduled to be onsite to cook the food ultimately spent much of the event standing around with very little involvement. More importantly, the food was served lukewarm to cold even though it arrived in hotboxes, and some food was undercooked/raw. The sternos were not lit until well after the food had been set up and less than 10 minutes before mealtime, which did little to address the temperature problem. For the price we paid, the quality of service and temperature of the food were simply not acceptable. I immediately raised my concerns with the event planner after the event. When I didn't receive a follow-up, I emailed to express our disappointment. To the event planner's credit, she responded and said the owner wanted to address the matter personally and would contact me after returning from out of town. That was over a month ago, and we have still received no communication. A coworker who also helps coordinate our company events separately contacted her point of contact at the company, but also received no response. What is most disappointing is not simply that one event did not meet expectations. We have been a significant repeat customer, and we expected our concerns to be acknowledged and addressed professionally. Instead, we received no follow-up at all. We have had good experiences with this caterer in the past, which is why this situation has been frustrating. Unfortunately, the combination of cold food, a lack of attention during the event, and zero follow-up afterward has made us decide to seek catering elsewhere for our corporate events.

I waited for days, and then I got an anonymous text with a couple of questions in return. So I'd respond, and then days would go by where I wouldn't hear anything again. I called several times and left messages, then I got another text a couple of days later. Finally, I got a text with just a price tag - no itemized breakdown of costs, no responses to my questions about table sizes, nothing. I left another message, asking for an itemized quote and haven't heard back. Its so surprising, considering how responsive and professional they were the past two summers when I rented from them. Itemized contracts, detailed terms. everything you would expect. This time there was none of that. Did they lose their sales staff? Are they going out of business?

We were on the hunt for a one stop shop for decor for a small backyard party during Covid-19:…read morelights, furniture, rugs, pillows, etc. This turns out it's harder to find than I expected unless you go with the big time players like Kehoe that was a bit pricier than I wanted for this particular party. I loved the rustic look of the furniture Elegant had and their prices were better than most. While they didn't have any rugs or pillows to rent (sigh), their wine barrels were perfection to use as high boys and ended up getting a bunch of their low benches to put together as low tables (to use with floor seating). And they were also able to provide lights for my backyard. While every other vendor told me that postposting due to rain or Covid-19 wasn't an option (say whaaa?) I also liked that they were flexible. The main issue was that getting ahold of them was extremely difficult. If the Yelp reviews didn't give me faith that they'd show in time fo the bash I would have been extremely worried. It took a lot of stalking for both me and my party planner to get a contract, pay for the contract and a date to set everything up. There is an emergency # and found that we had better luck when we called the emergency #. They set everything up a few days in advance so I didn't worry too much about them being a no show. I let them know they needed to come at 7am to get it all done since I was headed out for a busy day and they showed up even a few minutes early. An hour later my yard was lit up beautifully and I was really happy with the look of the furniture for the price. They set it all up on a Thursday morning and said they would be back on Monday to pick it up (also prompt for pick up) so we got to enjoy a long weekend of beautiful lights. While the service leading up to the event wasn't the best, I'd probably still use them since it was smoothly the weekend of the event. However, I'd hope they would be more on top of their communication next time.
