Don and Robert at In the Mix Production were wonderful to work for our wedding at Palmdale Estates! Robert did a great job helping us curate our list of songs we wanted played throughout the day. There were a few specific versions of songs we wanted played which he didn't have in his possession, but ended up purchasing just so we would have exactly what we wanted at the day. Our only mistake was that we forgot to listen to the first dance song in advance and didn't realize there were two different versions of it. They played the other version than what we wanted, but made up for it, playing the intended version as our second-to-last song to make up for it. We loved how they set up the ballroom and the uplighting was a last minute addition they suggested which we loved! It made the night so fun!! Don was an INCREDIBLE MC!!! He brought me and my bridesmaids champagne as we were getting dressed and was so wonderful calming nerves, making sure everyone was where they were supposed to be, and ensured everything flowed smoothly. He kept us on time throughout the evening, and when we needed a little more time to take photos between the ceremony and reception, he did a great job keeping the guests entertained until we returned. However, throughout the planning process & now when we look back at our wedding night (almost 3 weeks ago now), we are SO THANKFUL that we had the opportunity to work with Jude & ITMP! Jude was really, really great to work with. He gave us a discount and was easy to work with. And was a great value. He showed up on time. The other vendors liked him. But we gave only him 2 instructions... 1. Don't play our entire first dance song. 2. We really like 90s hip hop. Unfortunately... he played all the verses and choruses of our first dance song. So we were just dancing for an uncomfortably long time. The song we gave him was a recording of a live performance, so the singer starts talking at the end of the track. He didn't stop the song until after she started talking and promoting her tour. As for the 90s hip hop... we didn't hear any of that. Instead, during our dinner it was elevator music. (Our wedding was in a barn and we were eating ribs and barbecue and drinking lemonade.) He could of played country, popular music, r&b, anything. The type of music played would have been more appropriate in hotel wedding. I can't fault him completely on that, though. Because it's just our opinion that that wasn't the best choice for our type of wedding. I wish he could read the crowd/setting a little better. Even some of our guests asked us why he was playing that music. I'm hoping that we were just a fluke.. Because he really was a great guy. They were able to understand our wedding theme and the overall mood and tone we wanted to set for our ceremony and our guests. One of the most important things at any party is the music. Don was the DJ/MC at our wedding reception at Palmdale Estate in Fremont. From the time that we talked as to the last song, he was very attentive and followed up all the time. He went out of his way to get us drinks, etc. He was very understanding when I was dragging my feet on getting him the final list of songs and worked with me to finalize the list. My only request for Don was to make sure if folks are sitting down, they are catching a breath and/or resting their feet and I have to say he made it happen. Jude was our MC and DJ, and he made sure he was available for us when we needed his input and brought his expertise to the table when it came time to figuring out the timeline for our big day. We had In the Mix Productions for our wedding this June, 2018 at Nella Terra Cellars, and are so glad we did! Jude is so easy to communicate with. He's responsive, patient, and guided us every step of the way. He is completely transparent, listened to all of our needs and accommodated us in such a friendly manner. We had many calls with him and he never made us feel like we were taking up too much of his time. It was always easy to get in touch, and we touched base again right before the wedding to finalize the details. We love that we didn't have to go through any assistants and could always contact Jude directly either via phone or email. For our wedding, Jude teamed up with Young (aka DJ Twin Spin) who handled the reception MC and DJ role. As soon as the music started, he managed to get everybody on the dance floor and keep it packed all night. It was absolutely wild. While this can be attributed the particular demographic at our wedding (having younger guests definitely helps), we felt that there were some things Young did that actually catalyzed this. First is his ability to enthusiastically yet still professionally handle the microphone and establish the right atmosphere. He's humorous and well spoken, and keeps the program moving on schedule. But most importantly he knows how to get the wedding guests engaged and hyped up. We made a specific request to start off with songs from 2011, the year we first started dating, but left the rest up to him. He knew exactly which hits to play and actually mixed them together like a real DJ (that's because he IS a real DJ...he's resident at Temple in SF and a few other places). I'm not a music expert but even I could tell the difference between his mixing and that of a typical wedding DJ that just simply plays one song into another. When choosing ITMP for our wedding, we based our decision based on how comfortable and effortless it felt working with Jude, and how skilled and professional Young appeared to be as evident from his blog. Do not discount the power and importance of a good DJ on your wedding day! For a brief moment during our planning process, in the name of budget conservation, we considered doing the ipod reception thing. We are REALLY glad that we decided to work with a DJ. After meeting with Jude, we realized exactly what you count on your DJ to do... provide sound equipment for both ceremony and reception, manage the crowd via announcements (ie. seating for dinner, cake cutting, first dance, general dancing, end of night announcements, etc), in addition to playing the right music at the right time. Don is your man from start to finish. I recently had my 10 year high school reunion that I couldn't have pulled off if it wasn't for this guy. My DJ cancelled on me last minute (2 weeks before the event). Being out of town, I was VERY upset and stressed out by this. Like most people planning weddings we were trying to figure out how we're going to balance rump-shaking beats while still being family friendly. As we were shopping around for different DJs it became apparent to us that Jude Wellington was our best bet. Let's just say we cashed in on that return. Jude was great to work with all around. When interacting with just the bride and myself he was calm and engaging. When the special day came and Jude was upfront he was energetic and still engaging. I attribute our reaping of the treasure trove during the money dance to Jude kindly telling people to empty their purses and wallets. Leading up to the big day we were educated on his huge, diverse, collection of music. If your somewhat of a music snob then Explosions in the Sky shouldn't be a problem. If your more on the trendy side you'll be taken care of as well with some YMCA. As somewhat of the square that I am, the fact that Jude could whip out some NPR music bites I personally couldn't have been any more impressed. We didn't have to put an entire set list together. He was equal parts Pandora and iTunes. It was important to me that during the wedding festivities, amidst all the chaos, planners whisking you away for photos, family reminding you to go say hi to so and so, are we ready for dessert?, should we open another round of wine?, etc. etc., your DJ should be able to calmly ask a simple question if necessary that requires a simple answer. The DJ is at your service, not the other way around. My bride was the most important part of that celebration. Sorry to all the DJs out there but your just a complementary ingredient. Jude gets that and that you will find is HUGE! So if looking for a DJ that can be that catalyst for whatever event your celebrating while balancing the line between Soul Train and the Sesame Street (whichever way you'd prefer it to teeter) then "In the Mix" should do the trick. read more

We used Don and Jude for our April 20th wedding at Palmdale Estates. They were amazing to work with! I cannot say 'Thank You" enough to them both. Even after my first conversation with Don, I felt confident in having them as our DJs. I was a little overwhelmed planning our wedding and they both were fantastic about guiding me through the music selections. I did not want traditional music and they helped me pick songs that were perfect to help set the mood. They were great about following up for any changes we made and they were excellent at communicating. After the wedding ceremony they brought us water during pictures and helped make everything move smoothly. During dinner they checked in with us to make sure we were happy about the music levels. They kept the party going during the reception, as guests danced all night long. They were like a second coordinator and helped us keep track of time and even came and got me when it was time for the last songs. I am so glad they were part of our wedding team.
