Went to get acrylics removed and my real nails just painted. They did not remove the nails completely just filed them down and painted over them. I asked why and was told it was to protect my nails. They painted over the acrylic and now my nails are chipped and the fake nails are falling off leaving this ridiculously priced $60 service completely worthless. Will not be back. read more

E Nails is the only place in Ithaca I had a pedicure and returned to have another one a few months later. On this last visit the chairs have been updated to quality massage chairs! Loved the raspberry/pomegranate package and the gel polish is beautiful! I would have liked a little more time spent on callus removal but my feet are a hell of a lot better than they were when I walked in the door! I will be back in a few months, I'm sure. read more

I have been coming here for 2 years and I can honestly say that I have never had a bad experience here. I get my acrylic nails filled every 2 to 3 weeks and Grace does an amazing job! I see her every time for my nail art designs and every time I am blown away at how professional they look. Grace also is so sweet and and always such a pleasure to be around. The rest of the staff there is great too, Grace does more nail designs but the rest of the staff does beautiful nails as well. I also get pedicures there and my feet look and feel amazing. They offer a very wide variety of services massage, eye brows, waxing, and nails and etc for what ever you are needing. 3.5 stars Pretty good for Ithaca, not as good at California ones though. A bit pricey, 50$ for a full set whereas I can usually get $35 for a full set in CA; but Chris did a good job so I'm satisfied. One down side other than the price is that they don't spend as much time being meticulous about the glue or making sure the nails match up perfectly in shape and length. I have never in my life been treated so poorly and received such poor quality service. I opted to get an upgraded pedicure with callus remover- they maybe scrubbed/treated 30% of each foot. There was no prep of my nails before polish and the "10 minute foot massage" consisted of her walking around gathering supplies for my pedicure and maybe 5 minutes of massage. I was then rudely spoken to when trying to pick a color. I tried to ask for help and showed a picture of my inspiration and was shut down and rudely told to just "pick a color they have" and comments were continuously made throughout the service about the color. My manicure has bubbles and I had to go home and reshape them myself. The overall cleanliness of my service was poor and I will NEVER be going back to receive a service. $115 for a pedicure and a fill that I will likely have to go somewhere else to fix what Ithaca E Spa did to my hands and feet. read more

I'm in Ithaca for an intensive summer course and was dire need of a gel mani & pedi. So I came by on Sunday, hoping for a slow day (it was raining on and off) and a relaxing mani-pedi. I came with a friend, and they were slammed so they asked us to come back in 45 minutes, which was fine because we needed to do nails and go to Walmart before hitting the books again. When we returned we had to wait a while and decided to review the nail colors again. Then we were seated at the pedicure chairs, but were asked to wait. I asked someone if we could at least soak in warm water so that we can sit tight... but was told that I needed to wait because they had other customers. Maybe he misunderstood my request? We were slightly annoyed. Especially when they were finally ready to come to us... they turned on the faucet for the people behind us in line for pedis and let them soak in hot water while we got rushed pedicures! Hmm! He went right for the nail clippers and almost cut my toenails short... ones that I've been growing for the perfect sq-oval shape for a while!!! And when I asked him to just File them, he didn't do much to them. I realize I sound extremely picky but being someone who gets their nails done often, I assume that anyone who expects cash from me for a service will at least keep up with nail trends. Another thing I noticed was that there were no women working at this nail salon. Not that female employees absolute necessary for a business to function, but I wonder if my experience would have been different if one was there. And if you're wondering if they at least soaked off my previous gel mani during my pedicure, the answer is no. So the design process for the one accent nail on each hand was particularly annoying... because I was really starting to believe that no one was actually skilled at doing nails! And no, I don't think it's unfair to judge them against my experiences in nicer facilities in New York, Boston and Chicago... I would just expect that don't accept an extra charge for designs if they don't know how to do any!!! I had to coach the guy to make the darn sunflowers look more realistic (I wish I took a pic of what the rough draft looked like). I still tipped because I'm not a barbarian. The 20% discount for being a Cornell student was the one pro (the side eye and question of if I was really a student after showing my ID was unwarranted, though). Unfortunately, this salon wasn't anything I would write home about. If you're looking for a basic, round (or square ) shaped mani/pedi with only 15 gel colors that match their regular colors... this is the no frills place for you. read more

Worst manicure I have ever had in my life. Was visiting the area from out of town for the weekend and this was one of the salons with one of the the "best" reviews on Yelp. What a joke. Very, very sloppy work. They're more focused on pushing through as many people as possible instead of trying to do even s half-assed job on a single manicure. Could not even file my nails evenly, did not trim cuticles, and polish was extended over my cuticles and the sides of my fingertips and did not clean up any of this residue. Smudges of nail polish left on my skin. I sat at the area to dry my nails and noticed a smudge in the polish on the nail as well and I had to fix it myself because no one was attentive at all. Had to go to Wal-mart afterwards and buy my own nail polish remover to remove it because it was so bad. Complete waste of time and money and now I have no manicure for my weekend events. read more

I was a Sam Nails loyalist since I moved to Ithaca, and Demi did the best manicures and nail art in town until the salon closed last week. Forced to switch, I decided on E Nails, and came in today for my biweekly gel manicure. I was underwhelmed. The gel removal process was rushed: Ashley didn't wrap my nails very long, taking off the foils after only a few minutes, and then filing off most of the polish and base coat (not great for my nails). The manicure process is dry--no soaking--which means that cuticles and rough skin get minimal attention. The actual polish application is fine (2 coats of color, 2 coats of topcoat), and looks professional, but it's too soon to say how long it will last. I appreciate that they have a good selection of top-quality brands (OPI, CND) and the shoulder massage at the end of the manicure was a welcome treat. The salon is also large, clean, and conveniently located on Elmira near Wal*Mart, with sufficient parking. Options are limited in Ithaca, so E Nails isn't the worst option, but stick with simple services for the best outcome. read more

I've tried out every nail salon in Ithaca at this point, and E Nails & Spa was not much better than the rest. Similar to another review, I was loyal to Demi at Sam Nail Spa until she temporarily closed the salon recently. In need of a fill in, I decided to go to E Nails as the only time I've been was before they switched management. I made an appointment for 12:00 the day before, and when I got there, had to wait about 5-10 minutes... no big deal in my opinion. The salon is clean and there's a good variety of polishes to choose from. I had a few broken nails so we decided to just do a new set instead of the fill, as they charge $5 for each nail they repair. The nail tech removed my nails by digging under them with a MetroCard. He did not soak my nails or anything, just painfully shoved the MetroCard underneath the nail and pulled it off. He did try to be gentle in this method, but still, not the correct way to remove a nail in my book. He then puts on the tips and asks me how long I want them. I came in with extremely long nails and said I wanted them just a little shorter, so they would be less likely to break. We decided on a length and he cut the nails down. Throughout the process, however, he kept taking the electric file and shaving down the nail from the top, making it shorter and shorter to the point where they are way, way shorter than I asked for! I came in with a coffin shape, and we agreed that I wanted the same shape. The shape is much more rounded than I like, and isn't even straight at the top-- half of my nails are literally diagonal on the top. They don't do acrylic here, only UV Gel, which I have gotten before, but they think it's perfectly normal for it to burn when you put it under the UV light, which is not true. It only burns when the layer of gel they apply is too thick. They shaved it down after, of course, but it's even oddly shaped and thicker in certain places from how it was shaved down. Overall, I feel like I really waste $60 on the service, and am not happy with how my nails came out at all. It seems as though I'm going to need to travel a bit farther from Ithaca to get my nails done, unfortunately. If you're just getting a regular manicure-- no gel, no artificial nail, they're probably okay, though. read more

I'm new to Ithaca so I researched a few places before heading out to get my nails done. My natural nails aren't as long as I hope for them to be, so I got a UV Gel set. Raymond asked what shape I wanted and I told him "just keep it looking natural." I think he did a fantastic job! It looks like I just got a gel manicure so that made me very happy. My only negative is that this treatment BURNS... like I had to pull my hand away from the light because of the stinging sensation, but I love the outcome. Beauty is pain. read more

If I could leave 0 stars I would. Susan did an absolute hack job. I had grown my natural nails out with care, but needed one tip where my thumb nail had broken off. While removing the hard gel to do a new full set, she created hotspots on my nail beds with the efile and laughed about it hurting me. She then managed to rip off the grown out parts of both my ring finger nails -one ripped off OVER the nail bed- which meant 2 additional tips. The tips were applied at an angle, and both had to be removed and reapplied to look straight. Throughout the whole process, she was laughing and talking sh*t about me to 2 other employees. Then, when filing with flat file, she proceeded to file them, so they looked crooked again despite being glued on straight. I wasn't offered any discount for this poor experience but paid my 70 bucks and basically ran out to have the gel polish applied somewhere else that would actually pay attention to detail. This is the second bad experience I've had at this place. First time I had the same issue with tips being glued on crooked, and the woman who did my gel pedicure did a poor job. 0/10 never again.
